Chapter fifteen - He found me

2084 Words
Kally's POV: It has been almost a month since I started working as a babysitter. I'm not doing much. The boys stopped with the pranks. We don't talk often. They are still distant. I know why it's happening. I want to help them, but I don't think I can. Their mom won't listen to me. She will think that something has happened since I'm defending them. That is not true. Let's say that they are not as bad as I thought. I believe they can be good. For some reason, they don't want to do it. I won't ask anything. It's not my business. I talked with Addie about this. We went out two days ago. She still thinks that I'm falling for Jay. He barely looks at me. We talked a few times, but nothing has changed. I mean, not that much. The other thing is that Kian is still like a fresh memory. I had to change my phone number because of him. Only Addie and my parents have it. I talked with their mom through email. It was safer that way. I wanted to get rid of him. That is part of my past. I hope that we won't see each other again. I woke up early today. I went to have breakfast. A sandwich will do the work. While it was toasting, I made myself some coffee. Dad came and wanted my coffee as well. I might have made him addicted. I don't see him complaining. We made breakfast for him and my mom. They need solid food. One sandwich won't be enough. I went to wake up my mom. She was already getting ready for the day. I'll go to work after I finish my food. I want a full stomach. - New week, the same job. - my dad said, chuckling - I'm not complaining. The kids don't do much. - Kally, I know the truth. You don't need to hide. - What? Since when? How? - You are babysitting boys. - Yes. Little boys. - Kally. - Alright. Can we not talk about this? I don't want a lecture. - I won't tell you anything. I'm sure they haven't done anything to you. - No, everything is fine. - Otherwise, you would've quit a long time ago. - It's in their interest for me not to do it. - If you say so. - How is your job? You don't say much. - I do the same thing every day. There is nothing new. - We can switch. - I'm sure they want a girl as a babysitter. - I won't be so sure. They didn't want one at all. - I believe it wasn't their choice. - No, it wasn't. Their mom wanted it. - It's a bit ridiculous. They are twenty. - I'm only following orders. At least I get paid for that. After breakfast, I went to work. The boys were watching a movie in the living room. Usually, I eat lighter food during the summer. I have to cook for three boys. Honestly, no one made me do it. That was my decision. They came to check on me. I don't mind having company. The only louder noise was from someone's phone. I ignored it and continued cooking. - It's your phone. - Jay said - Excuse me? - That was your phone. Someone texted you. - Thanks. - Are you ok? You look pale. - No, I'm fine. - Won't you pick up? - I. Um. - Kally, are you ok? What is going on? I waited for the phone to stop calling. Then, I called Addie. How the heck did he find my new phone number? I didn't give it to anyone else. I'm sure my best friend didn't do it. - Hey, what is going on? - He found me. - What? How? - I don't know. He texted me at my new phone number. Later, he started calling. - Are you serious? - Yes. You didn't give it to anyone, did you? - No, of course not. - I don't understand where he got it from. - I have no clue. Can't you block him? - Yes, but this means nothing. He will find me no matter where I am. - Do you want me to come? Where are you now? - There is no need for that. I'm at work. - I know it sounds weird, but you can ask the boys for help. - No, no. I can't do that. I can't mess them up with this. - They are boys. Maybe they can do something. - Addie, I said no. - Ok, don't be mad at me. - I'm sorry. I'm scared. - Don't worry. What was the message about? - He wanted us to talk. - About what? - I have no idea. He said it was urgent. - Kally? - He is calling me again. - Don't pick up the phone. We'll go for dinner after you finish work. Ok? - Yes. Thank you. You have to be kidding me. How the heck did Kian find my new phone number? He only wants us to talk, but I can't do this. I promised myself that I wouldn't see him again. I sat down and buried my face in my hands. That can't be happening. Why on me? I feel horrible. Soon, I got pulled for a hug. It's wrong, but I need one so bad. I thought it was Blane, but no. It was Jay. - Are you ok? - I'll be fine. - What happened? It's like you saw a ghost. - You can say it like that. - What happened? - That was. My. Um. Ex-boyfriend. - You dated before? - Yes. It didn't end well. I mean, for me. - Mind if I ask what the story was? - I forced myself to give this relationship a chance when everything was falling apart. In the end, he dumped me. Addie told me a million times to do it. I couldn't. He left me. Pregnant. - What? You are. - I was. I lost it. Either way, I was going to remove it. - I'm sorry. - For what? It wasn't your fault. I feel like his mood changed. It's like I'm talking to another person. Is it possible that he cares? Well, I never thought I would see this side of him. The same goes for his brothers. Jay has nothing to do with that. - Nothing of this is your fault. You don't have to feel sorry. - But I do. That boy shouldn't have done that. Not to you. - Why? Do you care? - Yes. What will you do now? What does he want from you? - It's only a conversation. I don't know how he got my new phone number. - Do you think he is stalking you? - What? No. I don't know. - Maybe he saw you going to change it and asked for it. - Isn't there private information? - Probably not. I never imagined that I would tell him everything. Even my parents don't know about the pregnancy. Something felt right about this. He didn't let go of my side. I don't know how long we stayed like that. I haven't felt so valued by someone in a long time. I can't do this, but I want it. - I have to finish lunch. - Don't worry about it. We can help you. - Really? You will do this. - Yeah, why not? You deserve it. - Thanks. Can you do me a favor? - Sure. Anything. - Don't tell this to too many people. You can tell your brothers, but that's it. I don't want the whole university to know. - This will be our secret. Is that ok? - Thank you. I needed that. You can chop these vegetables into small cubes. - Like this? - Yes, perfect. You are a good student. - No, I have a good teacher. - I told you only one thing to do. - But it doesn't matter. I still did it. - Can I know why you don't want to be yourself? - What do you mean? - You and your brothers act like this on purpose. No one knows why. - Can we not talk about me? Please. - Sure. I won't insist. - Thanks. Is there anything else I can do for you? - For now, no. I'll tell you if I need anything. You can go. - I would like to stay if you don't mind. - Not at all. I would love that. Company is always welcome. Jay and I kept talking. His brothers came as well. Our lunch was peaceful. In the afternoon, we went to drink coffee by the pool. We covered ourselves from the sun. Toby brought an umbrella from the garage. That is way better. As usual, I stayed here until their parents came home. Later, I went home. Addie and I have to go out. I met her at the restaurant. - Hey, are you ok? Come here. Nothing will happen. I promise you. - Addie said and hugged me - I don't know what to do. It's too much for me. - Relax. I'm here. Did you block his phone number? - Not yet. - Do it now. He can't keep calling and texting. - Done. - Good. What about social media? - I have blocked all his accounts. - Perfect. - Wait! - What? - I have an invitation. Is this another account? How? - I asked and gave her the phone - I see. He will create multiple accounts to contact you. Block all of them. - I don't want to play this endless game. He can create ten thousand. - Well, we don't have a choice. Ignore him and don't respond. - He only wants us to talk. - Are you sure? - No. - Exactly. He will use your good side again. - I want this to be over. - Trust me. That will end soon. Be patient. - I'm trying. Addie and I stayed in the restaurant for a while. She convinced me to sleep at her house. I called my mom to tell her. I'll go to work from her place. I offered to come with me, but she denied it. I still haven't told her about everything that happened today. I know how she will react. The girl kept looking at me in disbelief. It sounds unbelievable, but it's true. He was a great support. I needed that. I waved my hand in front of her to make sure it was not frozen. - Earth to my best friend. - You are lying. He did not do that. - Yes, he did. I told you that. Twice. - Why? Are you sure he didn't play with you? - Yes, I am. I think something has happened to him. The whole time, he was sticking by me. - That is weird. I never expected something like that from them. I mean, triple trouble. - I believe they are doing this on purpose. I don't know why. - You can ask. - He didn't want to answer me. - Don't trust them completely. Something is going on there. - What should I do? I mean, with Kian. - Ignore him. He doesn't deserve you. It doesn't matter what he says. Don't give in. - Thanks. I don't know what I would've done without you. - I don't understand one thing. How does Jay know about your pregnancy, and your parents don't? - At that moment, it felt right. I have no idea why I told him. With Addie, I can talk for hours. We stayed up until 1 am. I have to go to work tomorrow. It's not like the boys will do something. I can say that this is in the past. I'm glad that we sorted things out. I still don't understand why Jay reacted this way. He had nothing to do with what happened between Kian and me. We didn't know each other. I mean, not on that level. It felt real, but you never know. He might have faked every reaction. I'll believe that he was honest. I don't want to be worried about another thing. It's enough what we did. It won't happen again. I hope that Kian will stop reaching out to me.
