Chapter 14

Sage's POV

We walk to our room in silence. I try to give him time before I will ask him questions about his behavior. He holds onto my hand like his life depends on it. We reach our room and he closes the door.

"Ask me." He says while looking into my eyes.

"Ask me the questions you want answered." He says again. His face is neutral but I can see the emotions in his eyes.

"What happened since you hate humans so much?" I finally ask the question. He takes a deep breath and drags me to the bed.

"My father was killed by hunters. I couldn't save him or my brother." My eyes widens. His brother? I didn't know he had a brother.

"He was my twin brother, he died trying to save my father. I don't talk about it, it's to painful." He looks at his hands and right there, all I see is a boy who lost a part of his family. Not a King or a notorious killer. Just a boy who needs comfort.

I caress his cheek and turn his face to me.

"I'm sorry, Valens." I can't say anything that will change his loss. I can only be here, right here with him.

"But all humans isn't bad. Amara is Jaydens mate, just like I'm yours. You can't change that or make him choose between you or her. Who would you choose? Me or him?" He looks at me with a frown.

"You. Always you." I nod.

"Exactly. So why are you demanding that he will choose you over her?" He looks torn but I can see he gets it. He's just mad about the situation.

"Please, just try and forgive him for something he's not in control of. I know you love him like a brother." I lean in and kiss him. He hesitates at first but then he kisses me with hunger. He push me down on the bed and straddles me. Heat travels through my body and I fight the urge to moan. He pulls away before it gets to heated.

"Thank you. You have no idea how scared I was for losing you." His blue orbs looks into mine and I can see his relief.

"I'm sorry. I wanted to run to you but I had to get Valeria away first. I only thought about you." He gives me a warm smile that knocks my breath out of me.

"I know. And I'm sorry about Clarissa, she's in the dungeon right now. She tried to hit my Queen." I growl when he mention her name but I'm glad she's getting punished. A knock on the door interrupts us and Valens pulls me up from the bed.

"Come in!" The door opens and Jayden walks in with a bow. Valens growls lowly when he sees him but thankfully Amara is not with him.

"What do you want?" Jayden keeps his head down as he can feel Valens' aura slipping out.

"I'm sorry Alpha, I'm here to give you and my Luna a big apology. I got lost in the matebond and didn't think my decision through." Valens frown and walk closer to him. He puts his hand on Jaydens shoulder.

"What happened?" Jayden collapse on the floor, breathing heavy and trying to get his tie open.

"I rejected her." My eyes widens and so does Valens'. He looks at me and then at Jayden.

"Why?" Is all I can ask. Jayden looks at me.

"She asked for the bathroom and I told her where to find it but when she didn't return to my room after 20 minutes, I went out looking for her. I found her in the library, looking over the books I was telling you about, Valens. You know, the one about.." He looks at me with a frown and I get the hint. He was reading about me and mother wolves. Valens clears his throat.

"So what did you do?" Valens' ask him.

"I asked her what she was doing and she was playing dumb. Telling me, she couldn't find the bathroom and took a wrong turn. She stumbled over the book and so on. I pushed her for more answers and that's when I looked at her hand. She was holding a phone in her hand and she was talking to someone. I grabbed the phone from her and a male voice asked if she had found the book about the mother wolf yet. Though he didn't say mother wolf, he said your name Sage." Jayden and Valens looks at me with concert and I get it. What's going on?

"I grabbed her and now she's in the dungeon. I rejected her right away, Valens. I'm sorry." He looks down on the floor again but Valens pulls him up and gives him a hug. Jayden looks at me with wide eyes and a frown.

"I'm sorry too." Jayden keeps quiet and wait for him to let go. Valens pulls away and look at me.

"I guess I have some explaining to do." I shake my head.

"Not at all, I have been searching for answers too." He nods and gives me a smile.

"So you think she's a hunter?" Valens asks Jayden but keeps his eyes on me.

"Yes. I think she is." My heart breaks for Jayden. It's hurting him to admit it and I must say, she convinced me.

"I will talk to her, try to get her to talk." Valens looks at Jayden before heading to the door. He opens it but stops.

"You know I will kill her, right?" I look between Valens and Jayden.

"Yes, Alpha." Jayden says without emotion.

"Make sure to get as much information as you can before you do." He says with a cold stare. I look at Valens and he gives me a nod. He walks out the door and I stand alone with Jayden.

"Do you really mean that?" My voice is low. He nods and walk out the door without a single word.

'Will he torture her, Sia?' I ask my wolf a question I don't even want the answer to. 'Yes and it will be painful. She's a threat to you, Sage. She's a threat for his Queen, she will have a slow and painful death.' The answer makes me shiver. Just as I assumed.
