Chapter 12

Sages POV

"You look good, Sage. It's been a while." His eyes roam over my body and I feel nauseous. The girl beside me is trying to get away from him, clawing at my arm. I stand up and push her behind me.

"Yes, it has. What are you doing here? You know what will happen to you if the King sees you." I try to sound calm and collected but my head is spinning and I have a bad feeling. Sia is growling furiously in my mind and I'm ready to attack him.

"Oh your little mate? I look forward to crush him like the bug he is. As to why I'm here. I simply missed you and our little game." He smirks and I gulp. I look behind him, praying that Valeria gets to Valens in a hurry.

"Looking for your mate? He will not reach you in time." He takes a step closer and I back up.

"I'm not pumped with wolvesbane this time, Jason. I can take you out on my own." I growl out loud and clear. He takes another step and I take a step back. The girl is holding on to my arm. I have to get her away somehow.

"You think I came alone? Oh Sage, you sweet little thing. I'm not taking any chances with you." My eyes widens and I look around the tree line and my heartbeat increases. Several men from Jacks pack walks out and I didn't even notice them.

"Confused? I hid their smell from you." He mocks me before snapping his fingers. The men holt but one keeps walking. I don't recognize him, but I can sense he's a witch. I push the girl further behind me.

"Do it." Jason says to the guy and the guy snaps his fingers. The air gets heavy and I look around. A barrier forms around the clearing and I snap my eyes to Jason's.

"You need help taking me down, huh?" I growl, but I'm not stupid. This is not gonna end well for me. Jason takes several steps towards me and grab my neck before I can move away.

"I can take you down. And I'm going too. I will break you so your little mate will reject you and you will come crawling back to me. You're mine!" He roars. The others howl their approval and I try to get his hands off me. A horrific roar echoes through the forest and Jason looks in the direction of the pack house.

"Looks like your mate is mad." He removes his hand and I gasp for air. The growling and howling comes closer and I finally see him running towards me. Several wolves follow him and I look at the witch. The smirk on his face makes me nervous. I see Valens coming closer. I rise from the ground and scream.

"No! Don't!" He runs right into the barrier, and howls in pain. His eyes snaps to mine and my heart breaks. I see anger, devastation, frustration and sadness. I fall on my knees. He tries to push through the barrier but it's too strong.

"Looks like your mate is worthless." Jason grabs my hair and pulls my head up. Valens growls loudly and the others too. Jason hits my face. Blood splatters on the ground but he keeps hitting me. I can hear Valens roaring and howling. The pain doesn't bother me, I'm used to it. My mind becomes hazy and I can't see clearly because of the blood in my eyes. The girl next to me screams and the haziness disappears. I grab his arm before he punches me again.

He looks surprised by my sudden action but I can't let them harm her. I have to keep her safe. I crush his hand and he screams in agony. The others run towards us but I shift before they can reach us. I attack them, biting throats over. Blood is coloring the ground. A scream makes me holt and I look at Jason. He's holding Valeria in his arm with a smirk on his face.

"Shift back or the princess dies." He says through gritted teeth. I look at Valeria. Tears are running down her face and she looks at me with wide eyes. 'We have to shift back.' I tell Sia and I can tell that she agrees. I shift back and Valens growls even louder. He's shifted back too and he punching on the barrier repeatedly, but in no vain. I look at Jason with furious eyes.

"I knew you would fight your way through this, so I got Valeria here as leverage." He grabs her neck and squeeze. I run to her but stops when he squeezes harder.

"What do you want?" I ask him again. He lets go of her neck and Valeria gasps for air.

"I want to play with you. And show you how a real man f***s a woman." Valeria whimpers in his arm but he only throws her away. Two other men grabs her. Jason looks at me with a smug face but I don't move. I only look at Valens. He keeps punching the barrier. He stops when he senses my eyes on him. The look he gives me makes me wanna cry. All I want is to be in his arms again. To have his scent on me. To mark him and mate with him. All the things I have dreamed of these last couple of days.

Time stands still. I can tell every emotion running through his eyes. I feel the same. But most, I feel mad. I can't be a victim more, I have to put an end to this.

Valens POV

I keep punching the damn barrier but I can't get through. I can't get to her and save her. Cain is clawing in my mind, trying to get out, but it won't do any good. We can't get to her and she can't hear me. I have tried to call her name, get her to look my way, but her eyes is on that guy and Valeria.

Anger boils in my blood. I need his head, he's touching what is mine! I need his blood, now!

"Val." Jayden looks at Sage and I stop punching the barrier. I look at her and my heart stops. Her eyes is golden. Tears is streaming down her cheeks and I see her anger, sadness and longing in her eyes. The guy is talking to her but Sage has her eyes on me. She snaps her eyes shut and when they open again, my eyes widens. Her eyes is consumed in gold, her iris is completely golden. She gives me a smile before she moves like a lightning. She runs to the two men holding Valeria and snaps their necks in a blink of an eye. Then she proceeds with the ones holding the girl. The guy looks confused but she's moving too fast for him.

One guy vanish in the air, and I realize that's the witch. By the time I'm done looking at the witch, Sage is standing in front of that guy. Everyone else is dead. The guy looks around frantically before Sage snaps his neck. Blood is dripping down her naked body and I run to her. I barely reach her before she collapse in my arms.

"You're safe, love." I whisper before kissing her parted lips.
