The Elites

There was no getting around the fact that the Alpha’s sons just made me a walking target. I would think of a way to get revenge on them if I actually cared. I just wanted to get through the next few months and then I was going. I was eighteen, no one will be able to control what I do. Even the Alpha has no say on whether I stay or go. I would rather be a lone wolf without the pack politics. “Welcome back students and welcome new students to Blairsville Academy.” The woman onstage waited for the students to calm down, she let out a sigh as the crowd grew even more rowdy. “For the new students, if you would stay after the assembly, I would like to welcome you all and fill you in on our rules and regulations.” There were a few other students that looked confused. I knew it was just a way to get the new students singled out and then they would put us with a student that has been here and knows everything. My mind wandered and I couldn’t help but steal glances at Axel, why was he giving me that glare? I don’t even know him and he wanted to murder me. I wonder if he had some dealings with my father. Hana pinched me and I sat up and looked at her. “Do you have a mate?” Her eyes were wide as if I were a unicorn, how odd. “Oh goddess no! I mean nothing against those that have them but I do NOT want a mate.” Hands slammed down on my shoulders and I flinched again as a familiar scent came over me. “That’s a shame, but that also means I can have all kinds of fun with you new girl.” I wrinkled my nose and ignored Anson. “Did you hear what I said?” His fingers dug into my shoulders causing me to wince. “Leave her alone Anson, she isn’t worth our time.” I shuddered at the cold tone of Axel as his eyes slid over me. Anson shrugged and followed his brother out of the auditorium. I let out a sigh and sank further into my seat. “Mated pairs will be housed together; all dorms are co-ed and we hope that you can refrain from fraternizing with one another.” My mind went blank and it was all white noise. We sat through another twenty minutes of lecturing and it was all just random mumbling to me. The bell rang and we were dismissed, Hana stayed with me while her brother wandered off with a tall Amazonian-like girl. The headmistress made her way towards me and I could see she was not happy to have me here. I guess my father’s reputation is known far and wide. “Olivia Reynolds, I presume there will be no more problems? I heard about the spectacle you made of yourself this morning.” I bit down on the retort that I wanted to blurt out and Hanna was gripping my knee so hard she left nail marks. “It was all a misunderstanding headmistress.” The woman let out an annoyed sniff and looked at Hana. “Since Miss Park has attached herself to you, she will be your liaison. I trust you will keep Miss Reynolds in line?” Hana swallowed and then nodded. Another disapproving look was cast in my direction and she rushed out of the auditorium. “You are making quite a name for yourself, come on let’s get your class schedule and room assignment.” Sighing, I gathered my things and followed Hana out into the hall. The quadruplets were staring at me as I left and I hunched my shoulders and gave another shudder. Just a little bit longer that’s all I needed to keep reminding myself. Someone grabbed my hair and I was yanked to the floor. My scalp burned and I bit back the cry of pain. “Someone needs to learn her place among the order.” It was the sulky girl from earlier. I tried to yank my hair out of her fist but she just pulled harder. “Let me go you pocket pet. I know the order and I’m trying to keep my head down but you keep picking fights with me.” Her eyes went wide and she slammed me against the lockers. Hana shrank back and stared. She was afraid and I didn’t blame her. I have gone through this enough to know that it wasn’t my first bully and it won’t be my last. “I’m going to teach you some manners trash!” She punched me in the stomach and the air went out of me. Damn for a pixie she can hit hard. I tried to slump over but she pulled me up by my hair again. Her eyes glowed gold and I knew she was on the verge of letting her wolf out to play. “That’s enough Daphne, let her go.” Another punch to my stomach had me kneeling before her. She let out a snarl and pulled my head back exposing my throat. I saw her clawed hand coming for my throat and there was nothing I could do. I closed my eyes waiting for the pain to come but it never did. Axel was holding her hand and staring at her, I saw the glow of her eyes dim and she looked horrified. “I’m sorry my Alpha.” She let go of me and I curled in on myself. “I am not your Alpha, do not call me that. We DON’T start fights with those who don’t fight back. Get out of here new girl. Your presence is an insult to me and my brothers.” He snapped his fingers at Hana who came scurrying over to help me up. I leaned on her and shot an annoyed look over my shoulder at Axel. He was still glowering at me but I didn’t care, I also hated the fact that now I owed this asshole. “Come on let’s go to the infirmary.” I shook my head and knew all I needed was to get back to the dorm. “Don’t worry I will be fine.” She didn’t believe me but changed course to the front office. I had to ask myself was I lying? Will I be fine?
