“Alright! And we can break for lunch.” Uncle Dec said and we all stood.
“Hey Josh, I just wanted to say I’m sorry I acted weird yesterday.” Henry said coming over and holding out his hand.
“Oh no, I’m sorry. You know Daisy is just a friend… I think.” I said and Henry laughed.
“You think?” He asked me.
“Well I’m still scorned from the past.” I said and started to the door.
“So you’re not interested in Daisy?” Henry asked and I didn’t say anything. “Josh?” He asked again.
“Sorry what? I have to go see my mom.” I said smiling at him and hurrying off. I ran to her office and opened the door. She looked up from her desk. Arnold and her were looking at some paper.
“Joshy!” She lit up when she saw me. “Are you here to have lunch with us?” She got more excited.
“Actually, I had a question.” I said walking up.
“What is it?” She asked.
“Can you feel a mate bond before you, you know… before you mark?” I asked and my mom gasped.
“Is this about Daisy!?” My mom said standing up.
“Daisy?” Arnold asked.
“Madison’s daughter, remember?” She said.
“Oh yes, her and Josh had that spat.” Arnold said.
“Yes and then Lee said they were kissing.” My mom said.
“Haha! Josh!” Uncle Arnold said and I glared.
“Mom! Stop telling people!” I said.
“I’m sorry son. You’ll have to ask your father or uncle James. I did feel something, but it was mostly after their birthday.” My mom said and I looked at uncle Arnold.
“Oh don’t look at me Josh, your Aunt Shay felt the mate bond before I.” Uncle Arnold said.
“Ok, I guess I have to find dad.” I said running out. I ran to dads office and opened the door. No one. I turned and walked across the way and opened the door. Uncle James and him were laughing and stopped when they saw me.
“Joshy!” Uncle James said.
“Please don’t call me Joshy.” I said walking in.
“What is it son? Did you want to have lunch together?” My dad asked.
“Mom sent me. She couldn’t answer my question and told me to ask one of you.” I said and they looked at each other.
“Oh goddess.” Uncle James said.
“What is it?” My dad asked.
“Can you feel a mate bond before you become of age?” I asked and they both at the same time answered.
“Yes.” They said in unison.
“As soon as I saw your mom in that diner.” Lee sighed.
“Yes, as soon as we saw your mom we both knew.” Uncle James said.
“Both?” I asked.
“Oh yes, your uncle James had a stronger mate bond with your mother.” My dad said and I looked at my uncle confused.
“She chose your father after he strengthened their bond.” My uncle James said.
“She chose the best.” My dad laughed.
“I’m glad she did. Could you imagine if I was with her when the king came along?” Uncle James said.
“Oh you wouldn’t have been able to take it. He would’ve killed you.” My dad said.
“What are you guys talking about?” I asked.
“Your mom and mate bonds.” My dad said.
“How many dudes did she bond to!?” I said shocked and uncle James started laughing hysterically.
“Identical twins can share a mate, and the king has a mate bond with every girl born to a alpha.” My dad said.
“You mean Barion?” I asked.
“Yes, unfortunately his father did and he will too. It’s hard for a king to find his true mate. Barion’s father’s true mate was your mother. They call that being chosen by the moon goddess.” My dad said and I stared at him more confused then I was before.
“Your mother has made a fine Queen.” Uncle James added.
“So Barion doesn’t have a mate?” I asked.
“He does, it will just be hard for him to find.” My dad said and then he clicked his fingers. “You have a mate bond towards Declan’s girl!” My dad said pointing at me.
“No! I was just wondering.” I said.
“Oh no, Henry is going to be crushed.” Uncle James said.
“If he’s anything like you, he’s going to be challenging Josh for a month at least.” My dad said.
“This isn’t about me, but he might. Be prepared Josh!” Uncle James said and they both started laughing.
“Ok, I’m leaving.” I said.
“Josh!” My dad called and I turned. “Only mark her if she asks.” Uncle James smacked his arm.
“That was over twenty years ago.” James said and I looked at them like they were crazy and left. I looked at my watch and realized I had only ten minutes left. Cafeteria for food was my only option. I walked over and went in. I ignored the many people yelling out “Josh” and went to grab food. I grabbed stuff and went to walk out.
“Hiya Josh!” Some girl latched onto my arm.
“Do I know you?” I asked.
“I’m a friend of a friend.” The girl said.
“Which friend?” I pulled my way to the door.
“Amanda.” She said and I pulled us out of the door. I stopped and looked at her.
“My cousin in college? Well if you hear from her, tell her I said hi.” I yanked my arm away.
“Do you want to hang out some time?” I looked at her. She was short, auburn hair, pale skin, kinda cute, but looked really young.
“No.” I said turning and walking away. I walked into the family dining room and stopped. Daisy smiled when she saw me, I couldn’t catch a break.
“Oh come! I swear we’ll have fun.” The same girl came in. I walked over and put my plate down next to Daisy who was standing now.
“Get out of here Priscilla!” Daisy said and I looked over at Priscilla and then back at Daisy. Daisy grabbed my arm and glared at her.
“Fine! I’m telling my mom!” Priscilla left.
“Who is that?” I asked eating.
“Priscilla Fletch.” Daisy said her name in a disgusting tone.
“She looked young.” I said.
“She’s only fifteen. Fifteen Josh!” Daisy said and I laughed.
“Relax, I’m not trying to jump into bed with her.” I said chuckling.
“I’m not worried about that. You barely let me in your bed.” Daisy said.
“Shhhh!” I looked around. “Someone will hear you.” I said.
“Why was she following you anyways?” Daisy asked.
“She said she knew Amanda.” I said and Daisy reached over grabbing food off my plate.
“Uncle Jason’s daughter in college? Unlikely.” Daisy said.
“That’s what I thought too.” I said. “I told you. Girls always trying to mate bond.” I looked at her and smiled.
“Oh my goddess! I didn’t know you had those muscles!” She grabbed my face.
“Stop it.” I laughed.
