Chapter 28 - Days later.

1006 Words
The days dragged on. I was going through the motions everyday and the silence grew between Daisy and I. Uncle Dec’s important question had only been asking me if I would consider babysitting again after I got back from my trip. I could only utter that I would think about it. We had wrapped up early today and I was standing in front of the family dinning room talking to Henry. “So you think the highschoolers aren’t getting adequate training?” Henry said. “Did you see them yesterday? Our pack has always been renowned for its hard work and dedicated warriors. What we saw yesterday was a joke.” I said and Henry stood there thinking. “I’ll talk to my dad about it. Maybe he can help me brain storm solutions.” Henry said. “Let me know what you guys come up with.” I said and I started to walk away. I passed by people, not really even caring who. “Josh!” I turned and saw Izzy and she grabbed my arm leading me away. “What?” I asked. “Are you ever going to apologize?” She asked and I sighed. “No.” I said lightly. “You can’t be serious!” She said in shocked voice. “Everyone has told me the same thing. We can’t grow attached.” I said and she pushed me. “That’s a stupid excuse Josh!” She said growing angry. “It’s not a excuse, this is just fact. She acts like we’re mate bonded and we aren’t.” I started up the stairs. “You’re being a *sshole!” Izzy yelled up the stairs and the people in the middle of the entrance room turned to us. I looked down at her glaring. “Maybe you need to mind your own business!” I yelled and continued faster. I could hear her following me and as soon as I got to my door, I hit a barrier. I smacked it and it fell. I opened the door and went into my room putting the papers I had down. The door opened and Izzy closed it. “This conversation is done.” I said and Izzy crossed her arms. “Josh, Daisy is a lot like you. She doesn’t really have friends. Most people in high school stayed away from her because of Liam. She mostly hang around me until I left. I’m her best friend and she would rarely call. You have to make up with her. You just have to. We leave in a couple days. I won’t be back until the holidays unless Liam is serious about us all coming back for her birthday as a surprise.” Izzy was sincere and I sighed walking past her. “Where are you going?” Izzy said following me. I got to the bottom of the stairs and saw people everyone getting lunch. I walked in and Izzy appeared by me. “She’s over there.” Izzy said pointing to the far corner where Daisy sat talking to another girl. I started over there while people said hello and tried to get my attention. It didn’t take long for Daisy to notice I was coming her way. She looked away from me as I got to her. “I need to talk to you.” I said and Daisy continued to pretend I didn’t exist. I grabbed her hand. “Now please.” I said and she sighed. “What Josh!” She said angry. “I want to talk to you in private.” I said pulling on her hand. “I don’t want to talk.” She said and I looked around at everyone staring at us. I looked back at her and leaned down close to her ear. “I miss you.” I whispered and stood up. She slowly turned and looked at me. “Fine! Fine, I’ll come talk to you.” She said standing up and letting me lead her out the doors. I took her to the family dining room that was not surprisingly empty. I turned to her and she pulled her hand away, crossing her arms. “Daisy…” I trailed off trying to find the right words. I took a step forward and hugged her. She sighed and stood there slowly putting her hands around me. “I’m sorry.” I said. “What for?” She asked. “For everything. For what I said, for not coming to apologize sooner, for letting you walk away that night. I’m sorry.” I said rubbing her back. “Everyone had me convinced, that growing a attachment to you was bad. I know… I know…” I struggled. “You know what?” She pulled away and looked in my face. “That I’m no good for you. You deserve better.” I said feeling tears pull up to my eyes. “Don’t talk like that!” She scolded me. “Let’s just be friends. Screw what everyone else tells us. I like being around you Josh. You keep pushing me away. I’m tried of being pushed away.” She said and I nodded. “I can’t promise you I’ll change how I act or respond to things, Only that I will try.” I said and she smiled. “Ok, now what?” She asked me and I looked around. I tilted her head up and leaned down kissing her soft lips. She looked at me surprised. “We can go to Andy’s soon. His birthday is tomorrow and we’re all kinda hanging out.” I said to her. “Is your sister going to be there?” She asked me looking nervous. “It’s Andy, of course she’s going to be there. I think her plan is to mark at midnight or something.” I said to her. “Sounds romantic.” Daisy said looking at me. “I guess.” I said grabbing her hand and walking out.
