Ding! Dong!!

She went to open the door while wiping away the tears in her eyes to avoid questioning from whoever it might be as she was not in the mood for conversation rather than unraveling the puzzle of her life which she needed an answer as she was desperate to understand what is happening to her but she was very certain it was her boss, Mr. Alex because he noticed she was acting out of it so he might thought to check again even though he was the one that driver her home but to her utmost surprise, it was Ken, of all person to know at this moment, it was Ken although she looked a bit disappointed by the person standing in front of her and not the person she was expecting.

He was looking at her with disgust,

“What was the meaning of that performance at the office”? Why do you have to push me away like that and why are you acting strange like a possessed person”? Anyways, are hungry? let's grab something to eat and drink then maybe you can explain your nightmare while sleeping in the afternoon at the office because I was watching you all through. Ken said

She felt a pang of dread, her feet heavy, unable to move, she stood still and stared at him as if to ask him several running through her head but she forced herself not to think.

Then she mustered the courage to follow him, she struggled to push her feet forward

She went to change her outfit into something simple, so they had a walk to a nearby local bar shop.

The was a bit of unease and tension between them as each person had a sort of thought running through their mind.

Ken left to pick a drink from the woman who is known to be the owner of the bar.

A message popped on her phone, it was her best friend Jane.

Ding!

“I have been trying to reach you, why did you run out of the office like that, we need to talk, I’m coming over right away,” Jane said

“ I need to be left alone at the moment, I’m not feeling too well and by the way, Ken is here with me, so you don’t need to bother” Sam replied to the text message.

While pouring a drink for himself, he broke the silence between them.

“I understand people say women act different in this certain period but you shouldn’t make it so obvious at work”

She was trying to understand what he was driving with his ridiculous words and questions, also she was lost in thought

“How did I end up with this kind of man in marriage, I traded my peace for love, and in the long run it wasn’t worth it, I’m better off single than being tied to this man who killed me alongside my best friend”

His question brought her to consciousness

“Are you pregnant?” he asked “Is it for me? because I can’t remember the last time we got intimate”

Those questions came suddenly to her as if she had been pierced with a knife. She wondered how he could have thought of such but she wasn’t really surprised since she knew how shallow-minded he could be

When he noticed her countenance to his question, he quickly changed his tone

“You can’t be pregnant now, your career would be at stake, you love your job, you love working, if you get pregnant now, you will be set back thereby stopping working and also stop earning. You know what? You need to get rid of the baby, you can get pregnant later but not now, you need to work” He told her

“I’m not pregnant” She announced to him with a smile

He was happy with the announcement, he tried not to show it but it was obvious

“ I was only kidding, I know you dare not do such a thing, you are too naive to be with another man or do you think anyone would want to be with someone so fragile as you,” He said Sarcastically

She offered to pour herself a drink, and after gulping it down, she gave him the most shocking news of his life.

“Let’s break up,” She said without a second thought or feeling remorse

After making him know her intention, she left the restaurant and he went after her, he grabbed her hand

Ken looked at Sam with a grim on his face, He could tolerate all her requests or demands but “ break up” it is impossible

“You must be crazy, what did you just say? Are you out of your mind, what has come over you?” He said while holding her arm

“Let go of me, leave me alone,” she said while walking away from him

He drags her back with force and pushes her hard against the wall

“ Did I say anything wrong, I have been keeping my cool since when you were acting like a mad person at the office and now this? You want to break up” “ You don't know your place, I have made you too comfortable and that brought the gut for you to utter nonsense” He shouted at her

Her mind raced back to the past where he raised his hands to hit her in the face before she died, the same thing is about to happen as he raised his hands up to hit her face but this time around, he withheld it and she remember he doesn’t care if anything happen to her but she can’t stand the chance of her breaking up with him because of his selfish interest, after all he was solely with her because of her money and nothing else matters to him as long as I am still in his life

“Is someone there? Please help me. Help! Help!! Help me, please!!” She screams for help
