Calista’s POV
I followed just like he asked, my heart pounding heavily on my chest. I left a huge gap between the both of us, covering my hair back with the cap of my hoodie with my gaze casted on the floor. Logan Drummond, son of Alpha Drummond, the most cruel alpha who has ever lived. His mother died the minute she finished giving birth to him, and according to the rumors I’ve heard, he was a cursed one.
I didn’t care much for rumors, but he was almost at the center of the topic in my family every night, especially now that he was looking for his mate. And also because Kayla, my elder sister, fanned for him more than anything.
Asides from his shoulder length hair which he sometimes packed into a bun, and sometimes let loose on each side, those black eyes of his could stare into your soul either dangerously or magically. His eyes were the most beautiful of his face asides their emptiness,
“People say his eyes lack depth, but even with that, he looks so gorgeous!” Kayla would say almost every time.
He was built differently from other guys in our class, broad chest, chiseled jaw and perfect arms and height that resonated with his entire self.
Even the way he walks exudes the aura of his name, Logan Drummond, the ALPHA PRINCE AND THE CURSED ONE.
I gulped, leaving my thoughts and taking notice of my environment. We were already out of the school compound and to wherever knows where, and he hadn't even turned back once to check if I was still following him or not. I halted suddenly, contemplating whether to run back to class.
Being the alpha’s son, everyone expected him to be a bully, but Logan was not. He was the silent pistol of the class, gentle, dangerous, and untamed. He only talked when asked a question, or when he was being disturbed by the noise of the class.
“Continue walking.” He called out and my heart instantly skipped a beat.
I balled my fist in the pocket of my hoodie as I picked up my steps, following gently at his back. Finally he entered a*****e and I followed, my brows earning a raise.
It was not a mall, or a food store, but more of materials that were used mainly for plumbing, and also… I eyed the entire section one after the other, some books, and some insecticides. I glanced at the section he was in, watching him put a rope inside the basket and walk away.
Not for once did he even glance at me. Would he know if I tried to run away now? There were just three of us inside, the cashier, him and I. I took a huge gulp to calm my swelling heart, taking a step backwards when his head flicked towards me and every part of my functional system in my body died down,
“You’re taunting me. I’m not a fan.” He said from where he was, loud and clear before turning back to the store.
I watched him put an insecticide into the basket and fear coursed through my blood. Was he trying to kill me? Was he going to poison me? What was his plan?
“Come here.” He called out as he got to the cashier, passing the basket to the not too old man.
I stride towards him, gulping down with my eyes on my feet.
“112 dollars.” The cashier called out.
“Where’s your school card?” I heard him say.
I looked up and met his emotionless eyes, glaring right into mine, some of his hair peaking right from the cap of his hoodie. The lines of his fine jaw accentuated with his face, his nose pointed and his lips in a firm thin line, complimenting the rest of his…
“Your school card.” He repeated, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Ohh.”
I brought out my purse from my pocket, fumbling with the zip as I tried to open it. My heart was beating rapidly in my chest and if I wasn’t careful, it would be bursting out soon enough.
“I…I’m…im so..I’m no..not th…”
My eyes widened as the purse left my hand, slowly raising my head to watch him open the zip, dump out the entire content and bend down to pick the one he needed. He passed it over to the cashier who swiped it against his machine, deducting the amount from it.
I clenched my jaw hard as the cashier confirmed the payment successfully done, a pang of evening trouble running down my spine. First of all, I was in trouble already with Kayla’s parents as she would report the bullying that happened today. And now a huge amount deducted out of my card, they were going to roast me alive.
A hundred and twenty dollars! How was I going to explain? What would I tell them I got! How.. various thoughts ran through my head, ranging from a lie and the truth.
Kayla would skin me alive for getting so close with Logan, not to talk of him taking..
“Here,” he called out again, my purse out in his stretched hand.
I nodded respectfully at him and collected my purse which seemed lighter than it was before, putting it back in the pocket of my hoodie.
I followed him as he walked out of the store with the nylon in his hand, my mind all over the place on what I was going to report back to them at home. I was so absent minded that I didn’t watch where I was going, colliding straight to the broad back of Logan Drummond and a pit of shiver coursing through my stomach instantly.
He turned to look at me, his eyes raking me up and down like it did in the classroom, “won’t you ask?” His majestic voice inquired.
Maybe this was why Kayla fanned over him too much, “what?” I retorted.
“What I’m using all of this for.”
I shook my head quickly, taking a step back, “I don…don’t..have..no..I don’t..”
A chill ran down my spine as his lips curved up into a smirk, stepping close towards me. I swallowed, taking a step back at each step he took towards me, “what’s your name?”
“Calista..” I replied.
“Calista, stop..moving..back.”
I stopped instantly, grabbing the hint of warning in his voice.
My heart stopped as his feet came to stop right in front of me with no barrier or space between us. His hand reached for the cap of my hoodie, pulling it down as my disheveled hair came into view.
“How much do you like your hair?” He asked without taking his eyes off it.
“I don’t like it.”
“Then what is it you like the most?”
I intertwined both my palms together, rubbing it hard against each other. What was there to like about my stupid sad life?
“I’ll take that as a nothing then.” His eyes flicked towards me instantly.
I tensed as one of his fingers lifted my chin up, fully staring deep into his eyes. He leaned close to my lips, making my heart go frantic deep in me. Just a little push and we’ll be locking lips instantly, “tell this to anyone, and I’ll make sure to find you and make your existence a nightmare. I don’t care what they’ve been doing to you in class, whisper a word to anyone, and you’re dead.”
He dropped my chin to the ground as a shiver ran down my spine, my toes curling out in my shoes out of fear.
“You know my father right?”
I nodded instantly, “Good girl.”
“I’m exactly what you people think he is. I’ll find your entire family, I’ll make your whole lives bearable that even the moon goddess would come down and plead for help on your behalf.”
His hand reached for my hair again, smoothening it as my heart panged hard on my chest, “are we clear, Calista?”
I nodded again, wanting to be out of here as fast as I could, “Good girl.” He muttered, turning his back on me and walking out.
I stood rooted to the ground for a while, unable to take a step either backwards or forward. Every part of me was scared, nervous and anxious as hell. His words continued to resonate in my brain, as if on loop, not allowing any new words in.
I was just about to walk away when I heard the she-devil voice of my cousin, and I turned my head to see her walk towards me, “Spill everything now, or you’re dead tonight.”
