Emma Blake was his mate?
Aiden is in shock. He sits down, how, did he miss this?!
She didn't have a scent, so of course his senses wouldn't have picked up on it. The rare moment of vulnuralbility made him realize it was her. The internal struggle between the two of them.
There was also one very. Minor. Detail to make things even more complicated. She was human. Human and werewolf relationships were taboo. Mainly because it required the other to turn once claimed. Some called it disgusting, mixing human and werewolf creating half breeds. So it was completely banned. That was different from Lycans who were mostly bitten against their will turned werewolf. Since its existence Lycans also have bred out more lycans. Now there was a mixture of lycans who were labeled halfbreeds. So they just banned it all together.
His mind was fried, Emma had left. He punches the table in anger. His brother jumps "What the heck Aiden!"
That was a sturdy oak desk, Was.
"Emma left." He chokes "Emma left- I don't, I don't- why?" He chokes
His brother never has seen him so emotional "Dude, the hell." He closes the door, and blinds to the whispering nosey coworkers.
Blaze winces. "Well, she, wasn't really liked here. It's been hard for her. Can't say I blame her for leaving. She was being bullied by Amber and her little lap dogs." He points out to the cubicles.
"Why didn't she ever say anything?" He asks
He shrugs "She was protecting you. Maybe, didn't want to hurt your feelings or cause trouble, its hard for her being the only human in this place."
"I talked to her about it earlier. I guess it was always in her mind to leave this place, she just felt like, she didn't want to abandon you." He said gently
He looked out to her desk, now to find a new assistant.
"I'm sorry Aiden." He said quietly
"Me too." He grumbles.
Emma took the long way home to clear her head. She finally stopped shaking. She felt, like a weight lifted off her. Maybe it really was bad she stayed as long as she did. She felt bad for Aiden. Her heart clenches.
Chrissy see's her coming, "Wow you look like someone kicked your dog."
She sniffs "I DID kick a dog."
"We need drinks." Her friend declared.
She nods. They head to a bar, The DogHouse.
She sighs sipping her cocktail.
"You left." Chrissy asks in disbelief.
"Yup."
"He literally hugged you and begged you to stay."
"Yup."
Chrissy chugs back her drink "Girl. How is he not in love with you?!"
"Keep it down!" She hisses, Human relationships with werewolves, were strictly forbidden.
Chrissy looks around, they were in a private booth in the back.
"Sides, what human or werewolf isn't in love with Aiden Blackwood." Chrissy says
"Exactly." Emma groans out "Sides none of it even matters, he's getting engaged tomorrow. He's miserable. I'm miserable." "It feels like someone is crushing my entire soul." She wails
Chrissy blinks. "Wow you have it so bad." She bites her lip, "Hey uh so what else do you feel?"
She sniffs, "I. Don't know" She whimpers "But it all. Hurts."
"Bar keep, we need another round of drinks."
"Emma. Love. I think, maybe Aiden might be your mate." Chrissy suggests
"EXCUSE ME. YOU ARE SO JOKING!" She exclaims
She shakes her head "Girl, no your symptoms are like- when a were rejects their mates. The thing is Aiden, I don't think is rejecting you either, he might not even know you're his mate."
"Ha! that's so funny! Chris. So. Funny." She scoffs "Right. His mate. Human. I am Human." She snaps her fingers
"And- if you weren't?" She suggests
She pauses, "I mean, he's nice to me. I'm, greatful for him. I guess." She sighs "Doesn't matter anyway, that stupid gold digging pack slut is going to marry him anyhow." She chugs back her drink.
"Wanna get silly drunk till we forget about it?"
She smirks and nods.
They end up going to her place. Ordering take out, and she starts crying on the couch. Her heart was crying for Aiden.
Tomorrow comes.
Emma shuts everything out and down. She feels like her insides are being crushed. Chrissy watches her biting her lip. "Honey. I think, maybe you really are his mate."
She sniffs. "It doesn't matter." She mumbles
Chrissy wipes her face, She frowns "Honey, Honey you have a fever! how did that happen!"
She starts shivering. Chrissy bites her lip, wow, her symptoms. Are. Like a rejected wolves. Its like a form of detox once rejected.
She paces, crap this was so bad! "Oh Emma." She cooes.
Meanwhile-
Aiden was at work, getting last minute things done. He was avoiding going home. Amber comes in with a smile. She frowns at his mood and looks outside, "Where's the human."
"She quit."
She blinks "Wow. huh I thought she had more, loyalty. I guess. Hard to find good help. "
"She LEFT because of You." He growls, he was so angry.
Amber swallows, looking at the empty desk. "Honey, in this job you know there are-"
"SHE LEFT because you were harassing her, and your harpies!" He was angry
Amber backs up slowly. "Look, I get you're stressed. But don't worry- I can-"
"What find a replacement for you to bully!" He snaps "You undermined me so much Amber."
"You can not find me with anyone, with her." He bites his tongue "Background."
Amber blinks, "Her- background?"
"YES she was an IT student from MIT!" He snaps "Can you find me with someone her genius level IQ or Background?"
"You can't replace that!"
"Baby, calm down I got it covered. okay." She cooes softly "There's this girl, her name is Aimme, and and she used to be Paris Hilton's assistant!" She said cheerfully. "So she can juggle high stressed enviornments. It seem's to me, maybe, Emma couldn't."
His jaw clenched. Headache forming.
Amber gives him a small kiss. "Now, don't worry. I laid out your suit for later. Do NOT. Be late." She says, and leaves
She didn't care she hurt him deeply.
He looks at the ring in his desk. Yeah right.
He goes to Emma's desk. He finds a little slip of paper. He reads it. His heart clenches
For the Next Asisstant- there a few things you should know about your new boss-
The rumors about him are absloutely not true, okay I lied maybe a little. He does have a temper, a bit stubborn too.
He is hard to read, and understand. But he has his moments, sometimes you can catch him when he's vulnurable. He burys himself in his work and tries way too hard, I think he just has high expectations of himself. He'll forget to eat, so you need to make sure he does. The favorites are listed on the back for take out and his prefrences.
He doesn't like repeated mistakes, try to learn quickly. Once you find your way around him, You can't help but be loyal to him. He makes you want to be loyal. Even for this lowly human.
He sits down in his chair. He has tears on his face. He only ever cried at his parents funeral. So, now it felt worse. He tucks it in his pocket, And proceeds to go home to get incredibly wasted.
Meanwhile-
Chrissy is watching her friend, whimpering. Gwad this was so bad. She thinks Doctor? no, no Doctor. s**t! She groans
She gathers every blanket she could find. "Ah, kiddo you are killing me here." She groans
Back at Aidens:
He is on the couch with his brother, chugging back a bottle.
"You are so not okay, you have to give a speech tonight."
"I'm not going to." He hiccups
"WHAT wait, whoa, why." Blaze asks
"Cause-" "She isn't my mate."
"So, you are dumping her. In front. of Everyone. Tonight." His brother asks
"Yep."
"Can, I ask why."
"Emma is my mate."
A pause. "You're joking."
He looks over to Aiden who looked less than sober. "You're joking. Shi- Emma?! She's human!" He hisses "How can she be your mate!"
"Don't know." He slurs
"s**t, Aiden you're really bad here."
"Wolf isn't happy." Aiden mutters
Blaze rubs his face. Well, could be worse?
"She left this." He hands him the note
He reads it, his face softens.
"I messed up." He says
The guests pour in, Amber strolls down the banister. Greeting their guests, music starts blaring.
"What are you going to do?" His brother asks
Aiden stared ahead. "Get incredibly wasted."
Blaze sighs "Well. Could be very worse."
Meanwhile-
Chrissy was pacing. Emma was weakening. Why! she was human! She didn't understand it, these were symptoms of a wolf rejection!
She curses. "Emma. Babe, I'm I'm gonna get help okay. okay?"
She nods dimly, tired.
Chrissy had no choice but to crash a party.
