CHAPTER SEVENTY

528 Words
Selene didn't look back as she drove off, she could tell the gate was closed immediately she had come out from the other side but she didn't care. Whatever was going on inside the mansion no longer concerned her. She needed to get away as fast as she could. Her first thought was to go get a drink or something close to that but she doubted she wanted to be in the midst of people. She was certain that if someone tried to talk to her they would be lucky if all they got was a rude reply and not a kick to the head. She was angry and it was those types of anger that one could feel reverberating through their entire body but mostly she was hurt. It was bad enough that her father wanted to marry her off but to go as far as to try this dumb trick was stupid. There was also the fact that she actually cared about Vance, she knew that well enough and a part of her totally loved the routine. That was the only way she could explain why she was still going back even though it was supposed to be a one night stand to forget about her father. She sighed while still driving, she needed a drink, a very strong one. Thank goodness she had a few bottles in her wine rack but the idea that she would need all of them to get even reasonably drunk made her churn. She didn't want to think anymore. She would definitely watch a movie when she got back home or take a nap but she knew sleep was far not from her, especially with the way she felt. She was happy when her street final came into view. She checked the time it was barely a couple of minutes past two, to think she had left here barely an hour and thirty minutes ago. She wished she had not left, for a very long time to come she knew today would be one of the top days she would continually regret leaving the house. The repercussions for not attending the meeting almost seemed like a slap on the back of her hand compared to what she had gotten at the meeting. She blamed all of them but most especially her father. She did not know what she would do about it but she knew she was not about to think about it now. She would worry about it when she had gotten a good night's sleep. For now, she would get drunk and try to forget all about tonight's expenditure even though she knew both tasks would be difficult she intended to do her best. Selene parked her car directly in front of her house, her favorite flower plant was ruined but she did not care. She just wanted to get inside as soon as possible. She got out of the car with her bag in hand. She locked the doors of the car. She fumbled with the keys as she walked up the stairs. Selene unlocked the front door, opened it, and immediately she knew something was wrong.
