Chapter 14

As she watched the SUV disappear into the distance Aerly wondered if she made a mistake her time Raiden had been brief but she had quickly adjusted to him more than she had gotten used to anyone really. Maybe if she didn't pull away she couldn't help the feeling tighten in her chest but her stubborn head wouldn't hear it she had made her decision when it came to herself and Raiden and she wouldn't dwell on the thought. If they were meant to be then somehow they would be brought back together one day but for now, Raiden was gone and until then Aerly had other things she needed to focus on. ::: Flashback "I want to see you move faster if you don't want to be eaten alive by pure blood's!" Aerly shouted at the warriors who were running relentless drills. She was a tough trainer but she was only looking at the bigger picture of the situation but the warriors didn't argue they simply obeyed after all who of then would want to challenge the Alpha female. "Don't you think you're being a bit hard on them?" Mitchell asked ever since Aerly tore into the pureblood beta Mitchell's attitude was quick to change. "No, they need to be at their best and look..." Aerly pointed out to Raiden's warriors who ran alongside the Sanctuary warriors. She had been able to get the other pure blood's to train alongside the warriors to push them and show them what they are up against. One slip up could end them all and that wasn't a risk she was willing to make "they are still ahead. When our warriors are equal match maybe then we can go easier on them." "Tough trainer you all have here" the familiar voice spoke from behind her. Aerly's whole demeanour was quick to change with the presence of the Alpha he had a presence that couldn't be ignored especially for Aerly. "We have to be tough if we stand a chance" Aerly spoke not bothering to look away from her warriors. "That is why I brought my warriors" he stepped up beside her his hand's clasps behind his back but a smirk curling on his lips. Aerly wished she could compose herself as well as he could but she was far too hot-headed. "Yes, and the Sanctuary warriors need to be an equal match Raiden. Lucius is a pureblood and is after something on Sanctuary land and it already been made clear they won't stop till they get Lilah and I won't let that happen" Aerly spoke her eyebrows furrowed at the serious topic. "Aerly..." Raiden relinquished a hand from behind his back and placed it on her shoulder "we won't let anything happen" Raiden said softly while Mitchell cleared his throat at the awkwardness between the pair before quickly excusing himself. "Raiden..." she sighed letting her gaze linger over her shoulder to the tall man. His blue eyes were already focused on her "don't." "I know" Raiden smiled but it was plainly obvious how forced it was as his hand slacked and finally released from her shoulder and slowly grazed along her arm. Aerly's tanned skin erupting with goosebumps. "I can't do this right" she mumbled. "Of course" Raiden quickly returned his arm to behind is back "I will see you tonight anyway?" "What?" Aerly turned to face him clear confusion on her face. He chuckled as he began to step away "you agreed to date before I left and as today is my last day here..." the words hit her a cold bucket of water today he was leaving and though it should have been relieving to her apart of Aerly couldn't help but feel an ache "so I will see you tonight then" and with a grin, he was off leaving Aerly to return to her training. ::: "I don't believe you" she spoke following Raiden through her living room. He had only arrived a few minutes before and announced he would be cooking them dinner. "And why is that? Just because I was born to a wealthy family doesn't mean I can't do anything for myself. Trust me I can tie my own shoes with the best of them" he chuckled making his way into her kitchen. It wasn't hard to find in her small cabin home the only room that seemed to be closed off was the bathroom. "Add that list to impressive talents a twenty-seven-year-old who can tie his own shoes" she rolled her eyes before slumping down onto a stool at the kitchen island which was merely a large butcher's block. He laughed as he began going through her cupboards and fridge "please make yourself at home" she spoke sarcastically observing his behaviour. "I am doing just that" he shot her a smirk before returning to his hunt for food "the question is why is there barely anything to cook?" "Because I hate cooking. I train and train and train some more" Aerly scoffed "do I look domestic." "Not in the least, Darling" he smiled once again in her direction. Somehow the tension had eased between them by the evening it didn't seem to suffocate Aerly as much and she found herself actually enjoying Raiden's company "but I will think of something." "Who taught you to cook anyway? One of the many wolves you lot lord over?" her shaped eyebrow arched as she questioned it was actually more teasing than argumentative. "Actually my grandmother we don't have many wolves we 'lord' over as you so kindly put it. My grandmother was a great cook and she spent a lot of time in the kitchen no matter how feared my grandfather was she still got sneered at by some pure blood's" Raiden explained as he rifled through the cupboards. "I heard about that. Your grandfather was the one and only Caliban Crane, quite the legend" Aerly spoke her voice always seeming in admiration. "Also quite a name to live up to. Same with my father..." he seemed to trail off with his words. "And what about you? Do you think you will be a good Alpha?" she tilted her head as she observed his behaviour closely the mention of it made his shoulders suddenly slump. "I think I could do it better with a beautiful woman by side," he said playfully as he turned suddenly and stood opposite her on the other side of the island "but I certainly hope I can live up to the title... One day we will have the same responsibility considering you are the heir to your mother's families pack." "If I could find them... But yes seems that way" her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance of the thought of her missing family. "You will find them" Raiden stepped around the counter to stand in front of her "I'm sure of it then after I suppose we will see what the future holds hmm?" he reached out and let his hand rest against the side of her neck the place where he seemed to always place it and the place Aerly was quickly adjusting to. "Yes we will see what the future holds" she couldn't help herself and let her silver eyes turn to meet his. Those blue deep oceans she could fall into forever and happily be content but her stubborn pride simply scolded her for the thought. "Aerly..." he spoke softly and her name being called made her realise she was daydreaming "I know it's my last night but I want to lay my cards on the table. I want this as obvious as I have been but I just want to say it and make it clear that I want this you and I. I will wait till you're ready whenever that maybe but just so you know" Raiden let out a heavy breath as stepped closer practically standing between her legs "your it for me, Aerly I've known you for yes not long but we are bonded for a reason made for one another and there is no one else nor will there ever be anyone else. Just you Aerly" and that was when Aerly let her pride step back and her heart took over she was always one to take what she wanted and after Raiden's sweet words she wanted Raiden. Letting herself leap from the chair and into the arms of the large man while he caught her with ease. There was no time for a single question or another word because as soon as Aerly's lips found his, as soon as their kiss was sealed everything seemed to feel right, she had ignited and fire that refused to be put out. Their longing and aching vanished and the pair were simply moulded together fitting perfectly like two puzzle pieces. They were no longer two halves they were whole.
