Amelia threw her clothes aside. She saw the two cars following her through the rearview mirror, and sneered, "Hmph, that is fast."
The kidnappers were already behind her back. She lost the way in the countryside. It took her quite a while to find the route to the city.
She stepped on the accelerator and raised the speed directly to 180 yards, galloping fast on the road. There were no other cars in this place, this hour anyway.
She was very satisfied with her plan. It was also the first time she felt her voice imitation skills were so useful. But she could not anticipate the time when that guy woke up. She would have waited there with the kid but what if the guy woke up before the police arrived?
As long as they thought she had left the factory with the child, they would definitely try to catch up.
When Amelia dragged the time a little longer, the police would have enough time to get the boy.
She drove her car towards the city. She planned to abandon the car and run away but the gangs came in fast.
When she was about to enter the city, a car suddenly rushed towards her right in front of her. She quickly dodged.
However, this was only the beginning. Another car loaded towards her. s**t! Amelia's slender hands quickly turned the steering wheel.
"Stop that car! The boy must be handed over today!"
The bald man shouted at Amelia's car ,sending orders to his men, "Kill that woman. We only need the child."
"Sure we will! That b***h has caused us enough trouble."
The night was getting darker. The six black cars on the road raced all the way, and the sound of the engines cut through the sky.
"Damn, these guys are not afraid of death."
Amelia was driving intently when suddenly a bullet hit the window. She was so frightened that her body leaned down, and her hands almost took off the steering wheel. The tires rubbed against the ground making a screeching sound. Then she heard two more shots.
"What the f**k!" Amelia frowned. If it goes on like this, I will die.
She clenched her hands on the steering wheel to slow down. Seeing that the car next to her was about to catch up, she found the right time to speed up and let the car change lanes.
The car next to her didn't expect her to accelerate suddenly and slammed into the car that was chasing after her.
"Boom". Amelia looked at the fire in the rearview mirror and exhaled a long breath. The knuckles of her hands were white with tension, and her shoulders were shaking.
"Bi-" Suddenly a whistle sounded. There was a blinding light ahead. Amelia shook her head, and the car was slammed into it. She slammed into the back of the chair in pain. Her car rammed into the side of the road uncontrollably.
Amelia desperately grabbed the steering wheel to change direction. But the speed was too fast. She couldn't control the car at all.
With a "Bang" sound, the car stopped. The car's airbags all popped out. Amelia groaned on the steering wheel. Blood was left on her forehead.
Am I going to die? No, Luna is still waiting for me at home.
But she was not feeling well at all. Her memories flashed back to five years ago. She should have died at that time. The five years now with Luna, it was probably the last mercy God had for her.
Good enough. At least I saved the boy. Damn, I miss Luna. Please at least let me say goodbye.
In Seattle Hospital.
Amelia woke up with an unpleasant smell of disinfectant in her mouth.
She seemed to see a man. The sunlight through the window perfectly outlined the handsome figure of the man. The golden light on his cuff made her unable to open her eyes. Although it was blurry, she also knew that men were handsome.
Am I really dead? This is what an angel looks like?
She moved in a daze, but there was a dizziness. She only heard a low, magnetic voice coming from her ear. That sound was nice. She swore she had never heard such a beautiful voice. She couldn't help but want to hear more clearly.
"Doctor, she's awake."
Before she could see who was coming, the guy had already approached her. Another smell of disinfectant made her frown subconsciously.
"The patient is fine. Fortunately, the car was in good condition so the protection was solid. She only had a slight concussion. She will get better with more rest. But her forehead injury would take some time to heal."
It took a long time for Amelia to really wake up. Turned out she didn’t die. She was in the hospital. And the angel she saw just now was looking down at her.
He was tall and slender. The collar of his shirt was slightly open, revealing his delicate clavicle. The white shirt clinged to his body and drew the perfect and smooth lines of his muscles like sculptures.
Amelia retracted her thoughts and coughed dryly, with the man’s gaze so tense on her. She looked up to his chin and met his eyes.
His eyes were deep but shone like the stars. When their eyes met, Amelia couldn’t take her eyes away from them.
Amelia scorned. The car accident must have damaged her brain. How could she be so attracted to a man she just met?
Right! A car accident! Did they save the boy?!
Amelia immediately wanted to get up.
"The doctor said you still need to rest."
Just as she tried to sit up, her forehead tingled. She fell back on the bed. She thought she would hit the frame but fell into a warm embrace. The charming voice was right above her head.
Before she could regain her senses, the man had already put the pillow for her. She smelled the peculiar pine scent on him.
She said, "Thank you."
"No, thank you. Thank you for saving Hayden."
"Hayden?" Amelia was stunned. Her dizzy head suddenly flashed, "Oh! You mean Marshmallow?"
"Marshmallow?"
"So his name is Hayden! What a cute name. Is he all right?" Amelia immediately understood when she saw the man's puzzled look.
Taran raised his eyebrows and stopped asking, "He's fine. Thank you for yesterday, Miss Smith."
"You're welcome. That’s just what everyone would do!"
For some reason, the look in the man's eyes always made her look uncomfortable. She gave a plain laugh, "And you are Hayden’s….?"
Although she already had the answer when she saw the man's stern face. She still wanted to ask for a clear answer.
"Father."
After hearing the man's answer, she was relieved. But when she thought about what happened yesterday, her face turned cold again. "Sir, forgive me. But I have to say this. Hayden is still so young to be alone outside. How can you leave him like this? Hayden was lucky this time. If anything happened, you are so going to regret what you have done!"
