Chapter 11 Birthday gifts and my mates best friends

James POV

I run down to the kitchen to find my mom and her friend Sapphire, sitting there chatting. “Mom I really need your help. I found my mate and I need to know more about her!” I said it so fast it was barely understandable. “Oh honey I’m so happy for you. Who is it, maybe I can help.” “It’s Lily Jacobs mom. The thing is, I don’t know really anything about her.” Sapphire’s eyes light up at hearing this. “You’re mated to my daughter?” She looks shocked as she says “her best friends are Haley Lockhart and Dominic Ruiz.” “Thank you so much Mrs. Jacobs.” I start walking to the door when I bump into Dominic, literally. “Alpha, I’m so sorry I didn’t see you there. Please accept my apologies.” “No need Dominic I was actually just looking for you.” Now he looks confused. “Me, Alpha? How can I help you?” “I wanted to talk to you about Lily.” He starts looking very confused and then protective of her. That part makes me happy, that she has people to protect her, but pissed they think they have to protect her from me. “Yes, today is her birthday and I want to get her something but, I realized I have no idea what to get. Hell, I don’t even know anything that she likes.” Again with the puzzled look. “Why are you getting her a present...... OMG are you her MATE!!!!” His eyes at this point look like they are gonna pop right out of his head as I nod. “We just found out this morning. So any ideas?” “Well Alpha, she loves Harry Potter likely to the point where it’s honestly more and obsession and she loves the color blue. She loves Chinese food and she has always wanted to get a tattoo but couldn’t with being under 18. I don’t really know how much of this is helpful.” So hearing this I start to make a plan. I have been getting tattoos for years so I know who is the best in the pack. I’m thinking a date? Bring her blue flowers and take for to the tattoo shop and if she doesn’t want to get something, I’ll get something for her. Hell, I very well may do that anyway, and after that Chinese if she is feeling hungry. “Thanks Dominic” I say as I run off to start making the preparations.

Dom POV

So apparently my best friend found her mate and didn’t even tell me. Is she mad at me, what did I do wrong? I keep thinking as I walk towards her house. I get there and head up to her room. I find her sitting there looking very sad. “What’s up Lil?” She looks up at me and gives me this really sad look. “I met my mate.” She said it like he rejected her, looking so sad it’s bordering on devastated. “I’m just waiting on him to reject me. He is not someone that would want someone like me. Who would want me, I’m worthless.” “ Well based on the conversation I just had with him I highly doubt rejecting you is on his mind.” She looked at me puzzled. “You talked to him! What did he say?” Now she looks excited and scared at the same time. “He asked me what you like? I think he wants to do something for your birthday. He seemed really excited.” “Really?” “Really. He ran away to start planning as soon as I left him to come here.” She looks like it’s Christmas morning with the megawatt smile she is giving me. I’m so glad because she’s my best friend and I love to see her so happy. I also don’t care if he is the Alpha. If he ever hurts her I’ll cut off his balls. “Well I guess a mate is the best present you could get but I already had it, so here. I hand her the wrapped box I had in my pocket for her. She opens it up and sees the locket I had got for her. In it is a picture of her, Haley and I all smiling and happy. “Thank you so much Dom, I don’t even know what to say. It is perfect, and I love it!” She says as she runs up and hugs me. “I guess I should probably tell Haley too, can you link her?” Because we are twins I guess we have always had a link with each other even without our wolves. Usually you can’t link until you get them when you turn 18 after you shift for the first time. “She said she was already on her way here, so she should be here any minute.” Probably more like 30 seconds later, my sister walks in and runs up the stairs to meet us. “So what is the crazy news that Dom got to know before me?” Lily looks at her sheepishly and mumbles out “Ikindametmymate” so fast it was barley hearable. “Come again” Hailz looks at me in confusion before Lily says again. “I kinda met my mate.” Now Hailz looks like she’s about to loose it. “You what! Goddess who is he? Is he hot?” Of course that’s where her mind is going. Lily looks at her again before saying “It’s Alpha James” now Hailey looks like she’s seen a ghost of the emotional faces on this one lol. So how do you feel about that Luna? I know you always wanted a quiet life and that is sure not what’s gonna happen now, are you ok? I look at her and she changes her demeanor before my eyes. “I’m getting there. With you and Hailey by my side, I know I’ll be ok.”
