To me, it was instinctual, and I had grown up with stories of wolves that could connect with the elements once they were fully bonded to their mate. It didn't even occur to me that it might have been considered more myth than fact. That it wasn't what every wolf was capable of. But the look on Melinda's face and now Wyatt's told me otherwise. In the meadow, everyone could connect if they felt strongly enough for one of the elements. Wyatt had seen me burn the bridge. So he already knew I had the affinity for fire. I guess it just surprised him that I was capable of more. That Senna was capable of more. I looked at him and laughed. "What do you mean? How did I do that?"
He looked at me, shocked at my dismissive attitude, towards what I believed to be a normal thing. "Not many, if any, wolves can run on water, Isana." He said calmly as a matter of fact. I just shrugged. There was wonder in his eyes at me that I had never seen anyone look at me with previously. In that moment, my stomach rumbled, and we both laughed his questions, soon forgotten as he carried me into our home, although looking at it now, it really was more of a castle. As I felt my body warm against Wyatt, I realised I was still naked. I gasped. "Damn, my clothes are outside still," Wyatt chuckled as his eyes glazed over, and within seconds, someone was handing him a robe. I gladly took it and shrugged it on. Wyatt placed me on the stool in the kitchen as Mrs small brought me a plate with a chicken mayo sandwich and strawberries and a yoghurt. It was exactly what I would have asked for. I thanked her and dug in as Wyatt sat next to me, picking at his lunch. "Out with it," I said after I'd eaten half my sandwich. He looked at me. "How long have you been able to control water?" I chuckled."Not long, I did it for the first time today with Melinda. Speaking of the devil, " Melinda came in and sat next to Wyatt as Mrs small handed her an identical plate to mine. "You're mate certainly is something special, Wyatt," she teased, nudging him. The run back must have been enough time for her to calm down. "I want to see what else I can do," I said with the excitement of a child, the glee in my voice evident. "After lunch, we'll go to the track and see," Wyatt paused, "but no fire, we've already seen what you can do with that." I nodded as I was eating and thought about what else might be possible.
As we went outside, I grabbed my dress and pulled it over my head, taking the robe and carrying it with me until someone ran over and took it from me. I thanked them and continued to follow Wyatt to the track. "So we already know you can handle fire and now water, but what about air?" Wyatt asked. I took a deep breath. Focused my senses and let myself feel everything. The breeze was soft and cool, and the smell of the dirt and grass surrounding my senses. It was like the air was electric. Like with the water, I closed my eyes and reached out. I felt the air like a force around me, and I pushed against it. I opened my eyes, the air was propelling forward like a vortex from my hand. Wyatt and Melinda were watching intensely wonder on their faces as more people began to gather. In that moment, I wondered if I could have a greater control of it. I pulled the air with both my hands as I felt my hair lift around me. I drew my hands to my sides. Imagining it surrounding my body, lifting me. As I began to float, the thrill exhilarated me, breaking my focus. But that was enough for me to falter and fall. Wyatt rushed and caught me in his arms. "Maybe don't try to fly before you can run," he chuckled the worry clear on his face. I nodded, and he placed me back on. my feet. "I'm three for three," I said to Wyatt. He smiled at me, "So now for earth." I felt myself shaking with anticipation. Could I do it? Before I could even try, I could smell the same scent I smelt the night I was taken. Rouges.
Senna didn't even bother to warn me before she forced me to shift. My dress being torn to shreds. Everyone gasped seeing Senna's form, Senna rushed to the scent and growled as the rouges came out of the bushes. The fear in their eyes clear, knowing they would be outmatched. All except one. There was a cold, calculated look to his eyes, and I knew he was going to be trouble. Wyatt had shifted, and Conri had stood beside me in an instant. Senna reached out her mind to him. 'Don't make a move, I want to deal with them.' her orders were clear with no room for negotiation. She needed this, and Conri allowed it as the rouge, circled Senna growled, baring her teeth. The other rouges submitted immediately bearing their necks, but the one with the cold calculated eyes didn't even flinch. Senna focused, and before he could even move a muscle, he was floating high in the air. So I guess that answers that question, I thought as she dropped him fast, knocking him out cold. Senna let me shift back. "Shift." I ordered the remaining rouges. As each of them shifted, I recognised one of them. "What's your name?" I pointed to him clearly, my voice stern. He looked fearful, "mikal," he replied, instantly dropping to his knees. "Why did you drug me?" I asked as he looked to the floor, avoiding my gaze. "I was told to get you out by any means nesscary and given the injection to subdue you," he replied, but I knew there was more to it. "we will talk more about this," I stated to mikal. I looked to his companions and saw they were clearly malnourished, and I felt myself soften. "Stay," I ordered them as I pulled Wyatt to the side. In a hushed tone, I asked him, "Do you think we can trust them to stay?" He looked to them and back at me pity on his face "yes, I don't think they have ill intent. " I breathed a sigh of relief. Wyatt's eyes glazed over, and four men rushed over with clothes for the rouges and us. We got dressed and headed to the kitchens, whilst others took the unconscious one somewhere. I didn't think to ask where. But for now, this would have to do.
