Mae's POV
"Mae get down here, you're going to be late for the dance"
"Mom why do I have to go to this thing, I don't have a date, my hair is not cooperating today, and we both know even if someone where to ask me to dance, I have two left feet and will end up faceplanting infront of everyone. Do you really want me to live through that humiliation infront of the whole school."
"O stop with the dramatics, school dances are fun, I'm sure you won't be the only one there without a date. Who knows maybe you could make a new friend with someone else there."
"Mom I don't need anymore friends I have Tyler."
"I know dear, but you and I both know his life is about to change drastically and he won't be available for all your highschool drama. It'd be nice for you to have some one to talk to and spend time with at school. Making new friends doesn't mean you will lose Tyler, trust me that boy won't let you replace him that easily."
"If I go for an hour and completely hate it, will you come back and pick me up?"
"Of course dear, as long as you promise to try to have a good time. I'll come get you and well grab some icecream on the way home ok."
"Ok fine I'll go...
*Ding Dong*
who could that be?"
Mom was just getting read to snap a picture of me when the door bell rang. Nobody every rings our doorbell. Mom is a homebody, she doesn't go anywhere. Ever since dad died; and she works from home too so if she's not driving me to school she's here. Her friend call and check in on us from time to time but nobody every comes over and no ever rings our door bell, even the sidewalk sales men skip our house.
She puts the camera down on our kitchen isle and goes to the door. Our house isn't anything special but it's our home, now with dad being gone its almost too big for us. Mom refuses to use his old office upstairs so she's turned the living room into her office. the kitchen is cute and basic with a little entertaining isle off the to side separating her office and the kitchen. The front room is dusty, we used to have family game night in there but with it just being the two of us it's not as fun anymore. Dad would find the most random games out shopping and bring a new one home each month for us to learn and play together. The house used to be full of laughter, Now its just quiet. Mom and I are fine, we are happy, its just not the same with out him.
"MAE I thought you said you didn't have a date?" mom called from the front room. what on earth is she talking about.
I grab my hand bag and walk around the corner only to be stopped dead in my tracks...
"Tyler?!? What are you doing here?"
He is standing in the door way in a navy blue suit complete with bow tie and a corsaige in hand.
"I know you thing I ignore you alot lately, and your right. Being future alpha ain't easy, but that doesn't mean I can't still take time for my friend. besides it's our last chance to really do anything together before graduation and I wanted to say sorry for being such an ass lately. Let me take you to this thing as my way of making it up to you? You know you'll be the coolest girl in school if you walk in with me on your arm." *wink*
"Ew barf, ok you can take me but don't ever say something as idiotic or ergotistical as that again"
My mom and him laugh and she grabs her camera to take a few picture. soon we are out the door on our way to the dance.
"Tyler... what the hell is this?"
"what do you mean? Its a limo haven't you ever seen a limo before?"
"Of course I have but this isn't Prom we dont need to show up in a freaking stretch LIMO!"
"Eh, perks of have the future alpha as your date, haha"
"O god when did you become so insufferable, You know I will still kick your ass in this dress right?!"
"Alright aright just get in the car will ya we are already late and an alpha can ne...."
"That's it you must promise not to mention your new soon to be fancy title anymore tonight or else I will leave you stranded at the dance and never talk to you again, Got it"
"OKAY ok geez lighten up this is suppose to be fun, you know like old times. Just two best friends living it up."
"alright lets go but if I'm not having a good time we can leave early right?"
"This is your night whatever you want well do."
