Kaira sat on the Glimmer’s flight deck. Tarkus was beside her, focusing on preparing the ship to leave jump space. She was watching the electric blueness of jump space curling around the ship. She wondered if this would be the last time she’d gaze on this view. If things didn’t go well at the planet, or even if they went well but just took too long, it would be almost certain she would die before they returned to jump space.
