To Be Loved

*Mira’s POV*
I had only ever really wanted one thing in life.
To be loved.
I figured it would happen at some point. I mean, I was a werewolf and we had mates. I would find someone one day.
And then when I was five years old, I met him. Alpha Enzo.
He was so cute and strong. Of course then, I didn’t know it was a crush, I just knew it was a fascination with the future Alpha of our pack.
The crush developed further, with every passing year. By the time I was fourteen, I knew what I wanted.
“Mom, I want to marry Alpha Enzo.” I stated.
“That’s very sweet, honey…but you have to be his mate.”
“No I don’t. We can fall in love the natural way. Lots of people do in this pack. So if I can get him to notice me, I could get him to love me.”
Mom smiled. “Well if that’s what you want, honey, then go after it. You don’t let anyone stand in the way of you and what you want for your life. You do whatever is necessary to reach your goals.”
I smiled back. “I want to be a Luna.”

Being a Luna was not going well.
Rumor has it Enzo didn’t believe in love and he was screwing any pretty she wolf that breathed in his direction. How on earth was I going to make this happen for myself?
Though on the inside I feel insanely confident, on the outside, I was a nervous and shy girl. I didn’t know how to talk to people, let alone, Enzo.
I started to give up on my dream of being his wife. It would never happen for me. Sure I briefly dated guys and even let one of them convince me to give them my virginity, but no one loved me.
And then there was him.
Paz.
He was always so sweet to me and we had so much fun together.
“Do you believe in love, Paz?” I asked.
“Definitely, I mean, love is the most beautiful thing you can experience on this planet. There is love in every single being.”
“Are you…in love?”
“Maybe. There’s this girl, Mira. She’s beautiful and thrilling. I want to know every single thing about her. I just worry she could never feel that way for me.” Paz sighed.
Oh my god, he was talking about me! He had a crush on me and wanted me to reciprocate!
“I’m sure she does like you, Paz. I mean why wouldn’t she? You are probably the most amazing guy in this pack.”
“I’m no Beta Grey.”
“He is very nice, but you are too. Any girl would be lucky to have you.” I smiled.
“If that’s the case, I have to ask you something Mira.” Paz stared at me intensely.
I was so ready to say yes to being his girlfriend.
“Would you ask Irene what her favorite flowers are? I want to get them for when I ask her out.”
My heart dropped. Irene?! The weird girl who dressed in all black all the time and had that monotone voice with no emotion? That was who someone as bright and happy as Paz wanted to be with?
“Oh. Um, sure. I didn’t realize you liked Irene,” I whispered.
“I was too afraid to tell anyone. I mean I’m probably not even her type. But you’ve given me hope that I could be. Thank you so much, Mira. You’re a great friend.”
Paz and Irene were dating two days later and I was their third wheel.
I had to do something!
I set my sights on someone new. Beta Grey.
He was sweet, funny, and completely hot. Being a Beta’s wife was almost as good as being an Alpha’s. I still loved Enzo, but he would never look my way. I wasn’t even sure he knew what my name was.
Maybe he would if he saw me with Beta Grey.
I tried my best to get his attention, I really did. He said hi to me and we had polite conversation, but somehow it never went any further than that.
What was I doing wrong? Maybe I had to get rid of this shy persona and just go for it.
“Hey, what are you doing tonight?” I asked Grey.
“Whatever Alpha Enzo tells me to.” He laughed. “Why?”
“I was thinking we could go for a walk. We barely know each other and I think that’s a shame.”
Grey smiled and opened his mouth, surely to say yes, but his eyes fixed on something behind me.
“Who is that?” He asked.
There was a girl I had never seen before. She was stunning! Auburn curly red hair. Sparkly eye makeup, a corset and tutu on. She looked like she had just fallen from another world or something.
And Grey was utterly hypnotized by her.
Suddenly all anyone in the pack could talk about was Celine. No one knew where she came from or what she was doing here, but they were fascinated by her.
I wanted that kind of attention. It was what I had craved my whole life. I wanted people to be interested in me and my life and what I was doing, but no one ever saw me.
But Celine did.
She was incredibly nice to me and it was so genuine. She truly just wanted to be my friend and I loved that, even though I was seriously jealous of her and her relationship with Enzo.
They had become close extremely fast and I was always curious to know why.
“You think they know each other from somewhere?” I asked Irene and Pas as we watched Celine and Enzo talk.
“Maybe. I think he likes her.” Irene stated.
“Really? But Alpha Enzo doesn’t really like people.”
“I think he does now,” Paz stated. “They remind me of me and Irene. Opposites that would do very well together.”
I sure hoped not.
If Celine just waltzed in here and took the title of Luna, I would scream.
But Celine didn’t want Enzo. She wanted me to have him!
With each passing day, Enzo seemed to become more interested in me.
“Hey, Mira, what are you doing tonight?”
“I don’t know.” I laughed.
“You’re going on a date with me. Meet me in my quarters tonight at six.” Enzo winked.
Oh my god! He actually asked me out! It was working! I was going to get what I had always wanted.
The date was incredible, especially when we started making out.
I was straddling Enzo on the couch as we kissed fiercely. I pulled his shirt off and threw it behind me. I wasn’t stupid. I knew Enzo would want to f**k on the first date. And I was more than willing to give it up.
His lips dragged eagerly over my neck, kissing and sucking. God that felt so f*****g good. I reached down to unbutton his pants.
“What are you doing?” He breathed.
“You’ll see.” I grinned as I slid out of his lap and onto the floor.
I tugged his pants down and was face to face with his massive erection. I wanted every inch of it inside of me.
“Mira-” I took his d**k in my mouth. “Oh f**k!”
Enzo pushed my head down as his hips bucked. I had never felt more accomplished in my life. I had the Alpha of the Bloodrose Banes weak. I was definitely going to be his Luna.
“Oh s**t…oh f**k you’re good at this.” Enzo groaned as he gripped my hair.
My head bobbed up and down quickly. I was getting impatient. I needed to have s*x with him.
Enzo gasped before pulling my head back. “I almost came.”
“You want to do it inside of me?” I asked.
Enzo looked taken aback. I was usually so quiet and now here I was being sexy and bold. That’s the kind of girl he wanted.
“I don’t know, Mira.”
I climbed back in his lap and licked up his neck before sucking on it. “f**k me, Enzo.”
Enzo let out a whimper. “I want to but,...Celine.”
I pulled away. “What about her?”
“She um…she said we should take this a little slower than I usually go with other girls.”
Celine and her innocent little ways. She was being a total c**k block! Or was she looking out for me? She wanted to make sure I wouldn’t end up like the other girls.
Kinda sweet, actually.
“Okay…I can wait.”
“Cool,” Enzo pulled up his pants. “And can you not tell her you gave me a blowjob? She would be really disappointed in me.” Enzo admitted.
“Sure. It’ll be our little secret.”

Enzo liked Celine.
It was more than obvious to me. Everytime he was around he would light up. He always wanted her opinions on everything and would listen to what she said. And the way he reacted to Rafe wanting her? Yeah he had some strong feelings.
But he wouldn’t admit it!
It was the topic of all our fights. It was just so obvious he wanted to be with her. So I did everything in my power to keep them from realizing their feelings for each other.
I convinced Grey to ask Celine out, I had s*x with Enzo and then told Celine about, knowing Enzo didn’t want her knowing. I pushed Celine to get serious with Grey. I did anything and everything I could to secure my future as a Luna.
And then Enzo said he loved me. Sure I knew it was to convince me that he wasn’t in love with Celine, but he still said the words. I could get him to fall in love with me easily.
“Mira, we need to break up.”
“What?”
“I’m sorry, this isn’t working for me anymore. All we do is argue and fight. This isn’t what I want.” Enzo said.
“But…Enzo you said you loved me.”
“I did, but I’m sorry it’s just not meant to be. You’re an amazing girl and-”
“No! No, you don’t get to say that! If I’m so amazing you would want to be with me!” I exclaimed. “Is it someone else?”
“No. We are just not a good fit. I’m sorry, Mira.” Enzo walked away with any chance at happiness I had.

“We…made love.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. Enzo had just admitted to Grey that he and Celine had slept together…while he was with me.
All this time I thought Celine was my friend. That she actually cared about me and wanted to help me. I thought she was an angel.
But she wasn’t.
She was a demon and she was going to pay for what she had taken from me.
