When my eyes fluttered open, I could feel myself moving.
I saw Enzo, who had worry etched across his face.
“Enzo?” I asked.
He stopped walking and I realized he had been carrying me. “You’re okay.”
“I think so. What’s going on?” I questioned.
“You passed out while they were putting the cloaking spell on you, babe. It was so scary, we couldn’t wake you.”
Slowly Enzo set me down. Everyone else was noticing I was awake again.
“Are you okay Celine?” Pierce asked. “People don’t usually pass out from a cloaking spell.”
“I am. I think my mind really wanted to connect with Sela’s to see what was going on.”
“Is she okay?” Enzo asked.
“I think that she’s with the Depraved Fiend right now. She has no clue who he is, but she’s determined to find out if he’s Lev or Doran.”
“How far are we, Pierce?” Enzo questioned.
“Not too far now, but we obviously won’t get there before she finds out the truth.” He sighed.
“We’ll just keep moving through the night. We can all handle that right?”
“We might have to.” I said. “She needs to take her powers back in order to defeat him.”
“We’ll get to her, don’t worry.” Enzo assured me.
“Where’s my bag?” I asked.
“Why?”
“I wanna check in on Rekz.”
“You’re going to faint again.” Enzo frowned.
“Then keep carrying me. I have to know where he is.”
“Fine.”
Enzo grabbed the chain out of my bag before lifting me up again.
“You’re so strong,” I smiled.
“I know. It’s sexy isn’t it?” Enzo kissed me and I pulled away.
“Enzo, not in front of everyone!”
“They already know who cares?” He kissed me again. “I love you and there’s no point in hiding it anymore.”
“I guess I love you too.”
“I’m sorry I lied to you, Celine. I was just…I just didn’t want you to not love me.”
I sighed. “I could never not love you, Enzo. But you have to promise me, no more lying.”
“I swear. No more lying. Complete transparency.” He promised.
“Then I forgive you.” I smiled. “I’m going to see into Rekz’s head now, okay?”
“Good luck.”
I touched the chain.
Rekz was back with Alpha Rafe.
“You have proven more useful than I ever thought you could.” Alpha Rafe chuckled. “Maybe you Incubi are actually good for something.”
“I try to be.” Rekz said dully.
Alpha Rafe suddenly frowned. He closed his eyes and then opened them once more with a smile on his face.
“She’s here.”
“What?” Rekz asked.
“I can feel her in this room. She’s…in here.”
“Celine? How?”
“Didn’t you used to wear a chain?” Alpha Rafe asked.
Rekz grasped at his neck. “s**t. I guess I lost it.”
“She has it. She’s using the powers to see into your mind. Celine are you here?”
“Yes.” I said, unsure if he could hear me.
Both Rekz and Alpha Rafe jumped in shock when they heard my voice.
Alpha Rafe laughed. “I told you she was here.”
“Alpha Rafe, please, stop trying to hurt Enzo.” I pleaded. “He’s a good man!”
“He’s a cold blooded murderer.”
“You killed his father first!”
“That was nothing personal in regard to Enzo. His father killed my mother. How was I supposed to react?”
“I don’t know, but you both hurt each other! It’s time to stop all the bloodshed!” I was putting so much energy into trying to convince him.
All at once I wasn’t just seeing what was going on…I was there!
Alpha Rafe and Rekz's eyes widened upon seeing me. Rekz lunged for me, but his hand went right through me.
“What is the meaning of this?” Alpha Rafe asked. “How is this happening?”
“I think it’s The Seraphic Paragon’s powers. I’m astral projecting, I think,” I answered. “But forget about that, and just talk to me Alpha Rafe.”
“Just…call me Rafe, Celine.” He stated.
“Rafe, please. Enzo has changed. He’s different now, he’s not the man that killed your father.”
Rafe laughed. “You think love has changed him?”
“It has. Enzo is so different than when I first met him!”
“He is still the same man, If anything he’s now weaker because of you Celine. Enzo used to have no real weaknesses, and now he does. A very big one. It will be his downfall.”
“I will never marry you,” I said. “I won’t be your Luna and I won’t give birth to your child.” I stated firmly.
“So you’ve been doing other spying, have you?” Rafe grinned. “I can see right now that doesn’t seem appealing, but it will, Celine. You will see a much different side to me very soon.”
“I love Enzo.”
Rage suddenly filled Rafe’s eyes. “What’s so special about him anyway? Huh? Why did my mother love him more than me and why do you love him? You are a divine being and you’ve fallen for a cruel werewolf?”
“He’s not cruel anymore! Enzo is different now! Please, just leave him alone, this can all end!” I begged.
“Oh, Celine, this is so much bigger than me and Enzo. And soon…very soon you will see that. I will open your eyes to what’s truly going on and you may just love me for it.”
“No, I won’t.”
“You will if you want Enzo to live.” Rafe replied.
“What?” I whispered.
“I’ll give you an ultimatum. If you come to me…I’ll spare his life. I just want you and to hurt him. I don’t have to kill him.”
I studied him. Something in me knew that there was something off about this deal.
“You’re lying.”
Rafe laughed. “You’re very smart. But it doesn’t matter. One way or another, you will be here with me.”
“You’ll never find me. I have the cloaking spell.” I smiled.
“Hm…then maybe we’ll have to find some other way.”
I was unsettled about how sure he was that he would find me. It was scaring me. Before I thought Rafe could possibly be redeemed, but the way he was looking at me was telling me that everything Enzo had said about him was absolutely true.
This man was beyond saving and too much had happened.
“I will fight you the whole way with this.” I declared.
“Good. I love a challenge.”
Before anything more could be said I left.
“Celine? Are you okay?” Enzo looked down at me. “It was weird, but you were like see through.”
“I was astral projecting,” I whispered.
I was afraid to tell him about my conversation with Rafe, but we had just said we would have full transparency. He had to know.
“I’m getting worried now,” Enzo shook his head after I told him everything. “He’s really coming for you.”
“He can’t find me.” I assured him, though I didn’t exactly believe that.
“But what if he does? What if he gets you? Then what?”
“You’ll come for me.”
Enzo smiled slightly. “Damn right I will. I won’t let him hurt you.”
“I won’t let him hurt you either, Enzo. I love you.”
“I love you more. We’re gonna figure this out.”
“Wait, Enzo, I just had an idea!” I exclaimed.
“What?”
“If I can astral project, that means that I can get to Sela and tell her that we’re coming to help her!”
Enzo smiled. “ That's brilliant Celine. But…how will you get to her? You don’t always dream about her right?”
“I didn’t think of that…but what if I could now because I used the powers? Every time after I use the powers, I dream of Sela. I just need a sleep potion!”
“I have one,” Pierce offered. “It’s very powerful though.”
“That’s okay. I’ll risk it.”
Enzo looked unsure, but I think he knew there were few things he could say to stop me at this point. “I guess I'll be carrying you for a while.”
“I can help you if you want,” Grey spoke up. “‘I’m pretty strong too.”
“Yeah, I don’t think so.” Enzo said.
“Enzo,” I scolded.
“I mean thank you for the offer and I will take you up on it if I need to.”
I kissed him. “That wasn’t so hard was it?”
“Believe me, it was.”
I took the sleeping potion and literally seconds later, I could feel my eyelids growing heavier.
“Be safe, babe.” Enzo said as he kissed me.
Very quickly I slipped into my deep sleep.
This was different.
Usually I saw everything from Sela’s point of view, but this time was like when I saw into Rekz’s head. I was there and I could see her. She was outside of the study. I think she had locked Lev and Doran in there.
Sela was so beautiful and oddly familiar.
Just like Alpha Rafe, Sela seemed to be able to sense me.
“Who is there?” She asked.
I used all my energy like I had with Rekz and Rafe. Sela gasped when she saw me. “Who are you?”
“Celine. I’m here to help you.” I smiled.
“And how are you going to do that?” Sela practically demanded.
“We’re going to find out who The Depraved Fiend is. Together.”
