Breaking it Off

“I’m going to break up with Mira.”
My head snapped up to look at Enzo. “What? No you can’t!”
“Why not? I was only with her because you wanted me to be. But now that we’ve finally done this, I can break it off with her.”
“You’re sure there’s no part of you that loves her?” I asked.
“Celine, why would you ask me that? You and I have made love twice tonight. You don’t feel how much I love you when we do it? You think that I have room for anyone else in my heart?”
“I don’t know, but…if you don't love Mira…I don’t know what that means for me anymore.”
Enzo sighed. “Right, I temporarily forgot you’re facing damnation.”
“Lucky you get to forget that,” Imutterd.
“Come on, I was just inside of you. No other thoughts really go through my head when that’s happening.” Enzo kissed me. “We’re going to figure this out, Celine, I promise you that. We have a month to do it. Maybe the Seraphic Paragon can help! I mean she’s all powerful, right? What if she can like give you a pardon or something?”
“And then what?”
“And then maybe you can stay on Earth with me. We can fall in love…maybe get married, have a couple of kids or something.”
“You want all that with me?” I questioned.
“I want everything with you, Celine. When I say I love you…I would never say it if I didn’t mean that, you know it.”
“What made you believe in love again?”
“You. I’m serious when I said I fought it. I mean I basically had feelings for you since you revealed you were an angel.”
“I insulted your love making that night.” I reminded him.
“Yeah, maybe I needed that a little bit.” He laughed before kissing me again. “You’re always trying to make me better and I love that. It’s working. I want to be a better man and Alpha for you.”
“What if Sela can’t grant me a pardon or whatever?”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, let’s just have hope huh?”
“Hope? Oh my heavens, who are you?” I giggled. “You used to be the most negative person that I knew!”
“Well then I met an angel and I started falling in love. Crazy what love can do right?”
“Insane.”
Enzo’s lips moved down my neck to softly brush them against my skin before planting soft kisses. Before this, I never knew Enzo to be a gentle lover. He used to just want pleasure and nothing else. No soft whispers or sweet affirmations.
Just s*x.
“Do you love me back Celine?” He breathed. I nodded. “Say it again.”
“I love you, Enzo.”
He kissed my lips again. “And I love you. I’m never going to let anyone take you from me, especially Rafe.”
“Right, we also need to figure out how to defeat him.” I sighed.
“I’m going to have to kill him, Celine. I need you to realize that and not look at me differently after I do it. I know angels are against killing but…if I don’t kill him, he’ll definitely kill me.
“I know. I just wish there was another way. If only his soul could be saved.”
“He doesn’t have one.”
“But you do.” I smiled before kissing him again.
Enzo pinned me down and our fingers intertwined. My heart was beating rapidly and yet slowly at the same time. How did that happen? Was this what love was?
“I waited my whole life for you,” Enzo murmured, looking into my eyes. “I would imagine this perfect woman I would spend the rest of my life with and the woman I imagined…she pales in comparison to you. You’re everything Celine.”
I blinked back tears furiously. No one had ever looked at me the way Enzo was right now. Not even Grey.
“You are everything I never knew I wanted or thought I would have. I’ve spent my angelic life studying and helping everyone but I never did anything for myself. You my one selfish thing, I think.”
“So while you're making me better, I’m making you worse. I love it.” Enzo laughed as he kissed me again. “Do you want to levitate again?”
I nodded happily.
I loved levitating with Enzo.

A knock on the door jerked me awake the next morning.
“What?” Enzo called sleepily.
“Alpha Enzo, it’s important!” Grey’s voice said from behind the door. “Can you open the door?”
“Um…just a second!” Enzo shot up out of bed. “Get dressed in the bathroom.” He whispered.
I grabbed up my clothes and hurried to the bathroom, getting dressed as fast as I could.
I heard Enzo’s door open. “What’s wrong?”
“Celine is missing! I don’t think she ever came to bed last night. She wasn’t there when I woke up and no one has seen her all morning.” Grey sounded so panicked.
I felt horrible that I had spent the whole night with Enzo and made him worry so much.
“Um, I’m sure she’s fine. She’s probably on one of those walks she loves so much. You know mentally preparing for the trip.”
“I hope so.” Grey sighed. “What are all these black sparkles?”
“Uh, some girly s**t that Mira has I think, I don’t know. I just woke up, I’m a little disoriented.”
“I’m gonna go look for Celine some more.”
The door closed and locked.
I exited the bathroom, breathing heavily.
“What am I supposed to tell him?” I asked. “Grey likes me so much!”
“I know, but…I mean if you don't feel the same way it's better to just end it right? I mean, he’ll understand, he’s a good guy.”
“But I don’t want to hurt him.”
“But you want to be with me, right?” Enzo asked.
I nodded. “I really do.”
“Good. So you don’t regret last night, then?” He walked up to me.
“Not even a little bit. It was amazing.” I kissed him. “And I liked waking up with you.”
“I love it, baby. Unfortunately you should get out of here and ease everyone’s mind. I will break up with Mira after breakfast and you work on ending things with Grey.”
I felt the tingle in my body.
“Sorry, that’s not like a real order!” He said quickly. “I’m not making you do that.”
“It might be easier if you did make me do it.”

Grey looked relieved when he saw me again.
“Celine, where were you?”
“On a walk.” I smiled.
“So Enzo was right.” Grey laughed. “Are you okay?”
“I think we should talk.”
“Oh okay, what’s up?”
“Um…things have kind of gotten out of control, Grey. I think you and I should maybe go back to being friends.”
Grey’s face fell. “What?”
“It’s just…I don’t know how to explain it.”
“Is it because of what we did? Were we moving too fast?”
“Yes! Much too fast and now I’m just feeling a little weird. But it has nothing to do with you at all. You’re amazing, I’m just not ready for such intensity with you.”
That technically wasn’t a lie either. I was ready for intensity with Enzo and no one else.
“You sure I didn’t do anything wrong?”
“Not at all. You are perfect, Grey. I just really need a breather.” I said.
“Okay. Yeah, um, I can totally do that. Whatever you need, Celine. I’ll still be right here, ready for when you want to pick back up. I can wait.” Grey smiled.
I could see there was some hurt in his eyes, but he was also hopeful that I would want to pick things back up too.
“Thank you Grey, you are always so sweet to me. You are the best.” I smiled as I kissed his cheek. “Please tell me we’ll still be close while I take this breather.”
“Of course, babe. I love being around you no matter what.” Grey assured me. “You hungry? Want to eat before our big quest?”
“I would love that.”
I was shocked that ending things with Grey was so easy.
I hoped Enzo’s break up was going just as well.

“Celine, I have to talk to you now!” Mira snapped.
“I think we’re about to leave-”
“I need you Celine.”
“Um, okay. What’s up?”
“Enzo just broke up with me!”
I hoped I looked shocked. “Oh my god, what happened?”
“He said things don’t feel the way they used to. That we fight too much and we clearly aren't good for one another.”
“I’m so sorry, Mira. Um…I don’t know what to say.”
“Say you will talk to him and convince to get back with me!”
“I can’t do that Mira. I have interfered enough, I think. Enzo is a grown man who makes his own decisions.”
“Then why does he listen to everything you say?” She asked. “You said you would get me Enzo, so help me keep him! You’re supposed to be my friend, so act like it!”
She stomped away.
I was supposed to make my friend believe that I was asking her ex who was basically my boyfriend now to get back with her all the while making sure she and my kind of ex don’t find out about us?
This was going to be some journey to The Seraphic Paragon.
