#10. Disarray

“I’m sure that she will have an idea about this…. But I haven’t seen her since that day” Ken was lost in thought not aware of the wasp coming at him from behind with it’s stinger pointed.

Ken later sensed him and easily dodged it.

“The monsters here are much compared to the first floor” He said looking around surrounded by five wasps.

After he killed all the wasps, two disappeared and four remained.

“Uh. You’re still here?” Cherry blossom asked as he saw Ken.

“Aren’t you supposed to be fighting monsters?” Ken asked.

“Shut up…. I just got hungry, so I’m heading back”

“What a pain” Ken said irritated.

“Hey. Spiky cherry blossom haired beast”

“Uh! Who’s that?” He asked.

“You of course”

“Want to die?”

“How long has it been since you started coming to the labyrinth?” Ken asked looking serious.

“Why are you asking me?”

“You said slayed monsters aren’t supposed to disappear”

“Yeah so….”

“What makes you think that? Was there any information passed in the guild about this before I joined? Or are they a different type of monster? Did they evolve or maybe mutated…..”

“Shut up!” He yelled cutting Ken short

“So….” Ken said hoping for an answer.

“No idea”

“Uh!” Ken exclaimed.

“Then how did you come up with that mindset?” Ken asked looking even more confused than before.

“Who knows. That’s what my mind keep telling me” He said with confidence.

“I’m sure you have a screw loose up there you stupid beast” Ken snapped.

“Piss off stalker” he said as they butted heads.

“But…. There might be a possibility that what he’s saying is right” Ken muttered then sighed.

“There’s just too much going on in my mind. We’ll finish this another day” Ken said leaving.

A few minutes after they exited the labyrinth, they were spotted by Silver.

“Ah! Ken, Rex…. You two were in the labyrinth” She said approaching them.

“Uh! You know this bastard?” Both of them then butted heads because the feeling that they said something together pissed them off.

“Whatever…. I hope I don’t see your annoying face again” Rex said and left.

“What a pain in the ass” Ken said annoyed.

“You guys sure get along” Silver said laughing.

“No way. By the way…. What are you up to?” Ken asked as they walk together to the market square.

“Just finished an errand from Charlotte” She said.

“You sure had it easy while I was stuck with that short tempered beast all morning…. Wait how do you even know him?”

“Well he’s….”

“Help thief” a young woman screamed for help as someone grabbed her purse and took off.

“A thief?” Silver exclaimed.

“In broad daylight” Ken sighed.

“Silver can’t use her magic here. She’ll end up scattering the market. Guess I have no choice” He said to himself and zoomed off to the front of the thief.

“Uh!” The thief exclaimed, surprised to see Ken in front of him.

“Out of my way” The thief shouted.

“My bad” Ken said giving him some space.

“Uh” The thief paused in confusion.

“It’s obvious that you’re a mage, aren’t you here to stop me?” he asked staying on guard.

“Welk there’s no need for that…. After all I already got the purse back” Ken said showing him the purse.

“Uh…. When did you….How did you….” He said confused, then Ken threw the purse to Silver.

“Well since you insist….” Then Ken moved behind him and knocked him out.

“Thank you very much” The woman thanked them as Silver gave her the purse back.

Then some knights came and took the culprit away. “So the knights are like the police” Ken said to himself.

“Guess that settles it” Ken said as they left the scene.

“You sure know how to act cool in a flashy way” Silver said teasingly.

“Drop it” Ken said looking away

“Hey Silver you've been to the labyrinth right?” Ken asked.

“Yeah”

“Do the monsters disappears after you slay them?”

“No…. They don’t”

“I see”

“Though I haven’t been there for a while now. And some time ago I overheard some of the guild members talking about it, calling it a new specie of monsters or something like that” She said.

“I see. Have the guild said anything about this?”

“Just this morning”

“Oh yeah. I went straight to the labyrinth today. What did they say about it?”

“Just told us to be careful and always stay in guard that we don’t know what they are”

“Okay. Anyway I’ll be going to the item shop” Ken said picking up the pace.

“I’ll come with you” She said following him.

“I’m not getting you anything” He said clearing it out.

“How stingy” She said pouting.

“Thanks for the compliment” He said poker-faced.

“You sure worked hard today” She said looking at the money he got from selling the dropped items.

“Naturally”

“It’s getting more cold by the day” Ken said tucking his hands in the pockets of his hoodie.

“It’s almost Christmas after all” She said then she bumped shoulders with a man passing by.

“Oh sorry about that” She apologized.

“Little girl are you blind or something?” The man said pissed off.

“It wasn’t intentional” She said trying to calm him down.

“Shut up shitty b***h” He yelled then noticed Ken glaring at him.

“Uh! Don’t give me that look…. Want to fight.

“Let’s go Silver” Ken said ignoring him.

“Whoa there. Just wait a minute, I haven’t say I’ve forgiven you guys, have I?” He asked tapping Ken shoulder.

“And I don’t remember saying we care about that” Ken said removing his hands from his shoulder.

“Hey brat. Why don’t t we make a deal?” He said to Ken

“Deal?”

“Yeah. You’re probably taking her to an inn right now to have a good time right? Let me into the fun and I’ll forgive you” He said smirking.

“Uh! Is your forgiveness that important, what do you think you are?…. A god?” Ken asked unimpressed.

“Hey you” Silver said walking towards him.

“I see you’re ready” He said smiling.

“Yeah I’m ready…. To send you flying” Then she touched him and he began floating upwards then started spinning in circles very fast.

“If I remember correctly she drilled one of those twins into a tree for something like this too” He said to himself.

After spinning him multiple times she tossed him into a nearby river.

Few minutes later they saw a man complaining about the price of an item to the seller.

“There’s no way I’m paying this amount for that”

“But sir. It’s the same price as always” the seller said trying to calm the man down.

“Uh…. That’s the guy I sell dropped items to sometimes” Ken said.

“Though he’s usually the quiet type. What’s getting him so agitated” Ken added.

Then a few knights came to respond to the situation.

“You guys have come to interfere” The man said to the knights.

“Be still” One of the knights knocked him out. Then the others carried him away.

“Can you tell us what’s going on? Silver asked the knight.

“Not sure what’s going on but some people are behaving abnormally and we’ve been ordered to capture them and take them to the cathedral”

That explains the guy that Silver bumped into” Ken said to himself.

“What about Miss Charlotte and Aran?” Ken asked.

“Mr. Aran is out with the search party” He answered.

“Oh…. Tristan is still missing” Ken said to himself.

“Lady Charlotte is with the guild master, don’t know where they are though” He said.

“I understand…. Thanks” Silver said to him.

“We’ll then…. Excuse me” Then he left.

“From what he said and what we saw, something or someone is controlling some people” Silver pointed out.

“Yeah but who, how and why” Ken said.

Then suddenly they heard an explosion coming from the park and hurried there only to see a mage from the guild going berserk and a number of houses on fire.

“Ha ha ha so beautiful…. It’s nice to be a king” He said loudly admiring the damages he caused.

“What do you inferior creatures want? Are you here to challenge me?” He said then blow up one of the houses on fire and a little girl was about to get crushed by the debris but Silver saved her swiftly.

“You guys are here to interfere after all…. I’ll kill you” He said angered.

Then they heard the sound of someone screaming coming from the next lane.

“Silver go see what’s going on there. I’ll handle this guy” Ken said unsheathing his sword.

“On it” Then she took the girl and left.

“Let’s get you to a safe place” She said as she lifted herself and the girl with her tornado.

“Th…thank you Miss “The little girl said cleaning her tears.

Silver smiled then patted her head.

“You self proclaimed king is the one causing all these explosions” Ken said pointing his sword at him.

“Self proclaimed? No your place peasant. I’ll show you the power of a king”

As he was about to attack Ken he received a hard unexpected punch on the face from Rex and which sent him flying.

“You….” Ken tried to say something but was too confused and annoyed.

“Hmmm…. If I didn’t show up you could have gotten you ass kicked by that weakling. Pathetic!” Rex said irritated.

“Shut up stupid beast. I could have taken him down easily. You just had to interfere” Ken snapped.

“Don’t give me that s**t stalker”

“Don’t ignore me!!” He yelled as he got up.

“Who are you flies. Don’t you know you’re standing in front of a king”

“Hoho…. You’re still okay even after taking that, not bad” Rex said approaching him.

“So you’ve chosen death…. Very well. Then die!” He said as he shot a huge amount of flames to Rex that caused a big explosion.

“Good for you. No one can survive a blast like that” He said with confidence.

“After what?” Rex said as he dispelled the flames.

“Uh…. How are you still standing and alive?” He asked surprised

“That’s because flames on that level does not affect me” Rex said then gave him a punch on the belly knocking him out.

“Hey you’re in the way” Ken said.

“I just did something cool so shut up and thank me”

“You really piss me off”

“Hey Ken…. Rex” Silver said waving at them to come closer.

“So what’s up”

“Yeah hope it’s serious I was about to pound this guy to smithereens” Rex said clenching his fist.

“That doesn’t even make sense” Ken said unimpressed.

She sighed heavily “Anyway this house collapsed because of the explosion and a dog was buried under the debris. I saved it but was too late” She said.

“I…. See” Ken said.

“Who the hell gives a f**k about some dog and what exactly are you seeing stupid stalker” Rex snapped.

“So where’s the dog now?” Ken asked.

“That’s what bothering me” Silver answered.

“Uh…. What do you mean?” Rex asked confused

“Wait don’t tell me….”

“Yes it disappeared” She said with a serious look.

“Just like some of the monsters in the labyrinth” Ken said to himself.

“Was anything wrong with it…. Like was it behaving in a strange way before?” Ken asked.

“Yeah. Before when I was passing here with the little girl he kept chasing and growling at us till we lost him”

“So that means some of the monsters and the dog have been poisoned or being controlled by something or someone and it’s possible that also applies to the people going berserk. Damn it!” Rex said.

“So the only option is to knock them out” Rex added.

“Yeah. Earlier the knight said that they’re being taken to the cathedral” Ken said.

“That’s also where the citizens are taking shelter” Silver said.

“Okay. Take that flame guy with you and tell the knights or even the guild master what’s going on” Ken said firmly.

Then she lifted herself and the guy with her wind and took off.

“The problem is we don’t know what’s causing this and what the objective is” Ken said to himself.

Suddenly Ken sensed someone with enormous magic power that almost made him go numb.

“Uh…. What’s…. This” He said in a shaky voice.

“Hey look over there” Rex said looking upwards.

“What’s wrong….” Ken looked up only to see a mysterious person in the sky above the city.

“I’ve never felt this much magic pressure before, even Tristan’s can’t be compared to him…. Just who is that guy?” Ken said to himself.
