CHAPTER 17

“They found out that the lady’s mother had beed killed by that man also, and now, he is after to that girl, after a few years of searching.” Amirah answered, that made Sander frowned.

“By the way, just give my Kai a call if you want more, for that’s the only information I got from him when he called.” Amirah suggested before bidding her good night to him and left.

Leaving Sander, fell into thoughts as he look at Selena’s cottage, for all he knows is Selena’s Mom was died in the accident, and left after a while to call Kai, to know more.

Sander face palm after finished talking to Kai. Kai told him the information he is curious about, Selena’s Mom death, and also found out the threats that Selena had been receiving that she hide, just not to make Mr. Vaughn worry.

For now that he asked his friend to take care all of it, for he can’t leave Selena for now, and thankfully his friend agreed.

It’s already 3am in the morning, but Selena still can’t sleep. She still can’t forget what Sander had told her, and that is been ringing in her head since she laid, and she can’t also stop thinking, if Sander and the lady awhile ago is still together.

After a while, she get up huffing an irritable sigh, and decided to just go out from her cottage to breath some fresh air, coming from the ocean.

She covered her body with a jacket before she opened her cottage door. There a cold breeze coming from the see hit her face and in an instant her irritation subside as if the breeze is calming her every nerves.

Selena choose to sat at the hammock chair at the side of her cottage and laid to it. She can’t help but to smile when she sky is clear from clouds and the stars are twinkling so brightly, that she can’t help but to ask, when did she took a time to gaze at the stars like this.

She spend time gazing the stars until she didn’t notice the she finally dozed off, in the middle of the cool breeze and under the stars of morning night sky.

“Ena, Ena.” A voice said, shaking her body gently woke up her, that made her moan.

“Why are you sleeping here? It’s cold, let’s get inside.” The voice said.

This time, Selena slightly open her eyes as she finally felt her body freezing in cold, and found Sander infront of her.

“Geez, what are you thinking and you came to sleep here?” Sander asked and helped her to get up.

“I didn’t notice, that I fell asleep.” She just replied.

Selena roam her sight and saw that the sun is about to rise, that’s explain why Sander is already awake.

Sander, escorted her, inside her cottage and tuck her in to her bed with her thick comforter, Selena felt relieve as she feel the warm being covered by her comforter, and look at Sander.

There she remember whose fault on why she can’t sleep that she needed go outside just to soothe her feeling.

“You can go now, I’m okay.” She said shooing Sander away.

Sander nodded and said, “okay, get some more sleep.”

Selena, turn her back and covered herself as Sander left, she is still sleepy and she will sleep for now, and just deal with Sander after, she thought to herself, and let herself to doze off again.

Selena woke up, feeling heavy, and her throat is aching. I must had catch cold when I slept outside, she thought, and cough again and again.

Selena attempt, to get up, but she can’t as she start to get dizzy, and end up slamming her body to her bed again.

“Nice, just nice.” She uttered in a hoarse voice.

And put her arms to her forehead and felt herself having a fever. She sigh because of it and close her eyes again.

Sander, haven’t been seeing Selena coming out from her cottage after founding her outside sleeping, and it’s already passed lunch.

Sander decided to go and check Selena to her cottage, with a pack lunch that he got on BV&V, the most famous restaurant in the island that is run by the island owner’s cousins.

Sander knocked on Selena’s cottage, and waited her to open the door, but he got no response from Selena, until Sander decided to peek at the window where Selena’s room is located, and saw her still lying on her bed.

“Ena, Ena!” He called but still no response he got from Selena.

Sander called Selena again, and this time a thud of worriedness came to him, when Selena still didn’t responded, making him just barge in the cottage.

“Selena!” He called as he approach Selena inside her room.

Only to find that, Selena is trembling so much and she is freaking hot. Sander, tried to wake Selena up but Selena just moaned but didn’t open her eyes.

Sander curse under his breath and carried Selena, but when he was about to rush her outside, he suddenly recall that Selena didn’t like being at any facilities involving health care, making him halt.

Sander came to argue with himself whether he will take Selena to the island’s hospital or not, until he thought of Amirah.

He left Selena for a while and rushed to Amirah’s cottage not far from them, and luckily he was able to find Amirah there who was just about to leave.

“Mirah, wait.” He said blocking Amirah’s way.

“What?” Amirah asked.

“Selena, Selena’s is burning with fever, help me.” Sander said.

“Why didn’t you took her to the hospital?” Amirah asked confusingly.

“She don’t like it there, or to any health care unit.” He replied, agitatedly.

Amirah, stared at Sander for a while and smiled as she shake her head. So whipped, she thought, before she started to walk first to Selena’s cottage.

“Aren’t you gonna help me?” Sander asked with widen eye, as he block Amirah’s way again that made the latter’s eye rolled.

“There is where I’m going, so don’t blocked my way.” Amirah said.

She can’t believe that she is seeing the mighty Sander, being agitated right now, that made her grin as she took the path towards Selena’s cottage.

“How is she?” He asked after seeing Amirah finished from checking Selena.

“She’s fine now, but you foolish i***t! How can you let her sleep outside with freezing cold?!” Amirah exclaimed as she asked, and throw a dagger gaze on him.

He told Amirah, that he found Selena sleeping outside at 4am in the morning that’s why, Amirah keep looking at him disappointedly.

Amirah sigh as she stood up and approach him, “take care her properly, and please don’t be slow or else I will really smack you on your head really hard to wake you up.”

“I’ll be going now, and don’t forget to send me the medical fee.” Avery said passing through him while waving her hand.

Sander can’t help but to shake his head while smiling and commented, “Kai and you are really so much alike.”

“Of course that’s why we love each other.” Amirah replied, and wink at him mischievously and left.

Sander stared at Selena’s peaceful and sleeping face, can’t help but to kissed Selena’s forehead and whispered.

Be okay, and I promise to make you my princess for now.

Selena woke up, feeling light and okay as she slowly open her eyes and see that it is already dark outside, while the curtains of the window swinging because a cool air coming from the outside.

What happened? She asked curiously as she roam her eyes around her room and saw the night lamp is on, and when she felt a movement beside her, she found Sander there, fast asleep, while he is using his arm as a pillow from leaning to her bed.

“What is he doing here?” She asked and lean closer the check Sander.

She was about to reach Sander, when Sander move again, and slowly, his eyes opened and their eyes meet, that made Selena immediately took her hands back from was about she is doing.

Sander, got up and smile as he saw her awake, “your awake. How are you feeling?”

He asked, and reach the back of his palm to check Selena’s temperature, and smiled again.

“Your fever is down.” He stated.

“What happened?” She asked as she don’t know what happened.

She just suddenly felt awful when she woke up this morning and then just wake up, feeling okay again.

“You had a fever, this morning a very high one.” Sander replied.

Selena, nod, as she finally remembered.  But, is Sander is the one who take care of me all this time? She asked inside her head again, as she stared at Sander.

“By the way, you haven’t grab anything yet, wait here. I’ll just prepare your porridge that I made a while ago.” Sander said, motioning her to wait.

Minutes after, Sander came again, with a tray that consist a bowl of porridge and a glass of water, and place it beside her on the bed.

Selena just watch Sander in his every move and something warm touch her heart seeing Sander, serving her food.
