The Guardians: Broken Barrier

Ruby opened her eyes to the sun smiling down at her. She used her hand to block the ray of sunlight from her face as reached her side table for the clock. 7:59 " s**t" she muttered. She shocked her boyfriend, Tyler, who was asleep beside her. " What...?" he groaned She hit him again" We're going to be late." she said and rushed out of the room to her sister's room. " Sky wake up we're late." she said and rushed out of the room and ran down the stairs to meet her two other friends cuddling on the couch. " Nessa, Noah, with all the racket you both should be awake by now" " ummmm.." Noah said Ruby took a pillow threw it at them " We're late fools get up." with that she ran back upstairs. ************************************ The five friends ran into the school building trying to get to class and not be more late than they already are. As they took a turn they stopped dead in their tracks as they came face to face with the principal. " Well how early you all are." He said sarcastically. ************************************ " Look principal Grey, promise we won't do this again. It's a mistake we instantly regret." Ruby pleaded with the principal. As they all stood in front of the principal in his office. " Yes we regret it and we promise not be late again." Skylar backed her up. " Okay it's detention for all of you but it's not going to be like the normal detention you know." " Okay what are we doing instead of sitting in a classroom as usual?" Noah asked " I'll show you." Principal Grey said and walked outside. " Why are we going to the basement?" Nessa asked. " The Drama club need a new place to practice." Principal Grey said. " I thought they used the auditorium." Tyler asked " They did but the music club and chess have a lot of things to do there this semester so, the drama club need a permanent place to stay. So since the basement is not being used they can practice here." " So we have to clean everything?" Ruby asked in horror. " No just put things in order and arrange them. Put them in boxes and put the boxes aside. When your done you can leave but if you don't finish it and you leave then you will have to continue tomorrow. Good luck." with that he left them alone. "You know I heard that its actually a curse to get detention on the first day of school. They say if you get detention on the first day, you'll continue to be in detention for rest of the school year." Noah said Everyone turned to him giving him the ' not now dude face ' " look let's just get this done and leave. This place gives me bad vibes." Nessa said disgusted. Ruby picks up an old box with a very strange inscription on it. She places it on the table. " What is that Rue? " Sky asked her " I have no idea, I just found it I. one of the boxes." She replied " Can you open it?" Tyler asked as he moved towards her. " I don't know" She shrugged her shoulder. Im mediately even gathered around her. Ruby searched around the box hoping to find a place to open. As she searched she heard a click sound and the lid of the box opened a little. " You opened it?" Sky asked " I think" she answered as she opened the box fully to find an empty box. " There's nothing in here" she said surprised " Nothing?" Nessa asked surprised too and she leaned in to check herself. " Well that was an absolute waste of time." Noah said and returned to what he was doing and everyone did the same. " Is it just me or did this place just become colder.?" "Yeah true" Nessa said as she rubbed her arms showing she was cold. " Let's just be done and get out of here. This place isn't giving out good vibes." ************************************** Ruby threw the pillow over her head as the banging on her door continued. " Uhhhhhh" Ruby groaned. " What do you want?" She yelled " Just open the door." Skylar replied still banging the door. Ruby threw her blanket off her and stood up to open the door. " Whatever you want to say better be important for you to wake me up this early cause if it isn't-" Ruby opened the door and Skylar barged in." Well good morning to you too" Ruby said and closed the door Ruby walked up to Skylar and Skylar stretched out her hand in Ruby's face almost hitting her. " Okay careful with the hands Missy. What is it?" Ruby took arm and moved it away from her face to see what she was showing her. " Oh my God. When did you get a tattoo?" Ruby asked surprised" I thought you didn't like those things, neither does Mom or Dad" " That's the problem, I didn't get one." Skylar said almost in a whisper. " Then how is it on your arm?" " I don't know, I don't know that's why I've been banging on your door." " Well you can't just get a spiritual tattoo, it has to come from somewhere. Did you drink and pass out somewhere? Maybe someone decided to give you an experimental tattoo.?" " You know I don't drink and I was with you all night. We were at home together." Skylar said walking back and forth in the room. "Well, there is a logical explanation for this. I mean there should be a logical explanation for this" Skylar stopped walking and looked at Ruby. " What?" Ruby asked her confused Skylar sat down beside her still staring at her hand. " Okay what is it? you're creeping me out" Skylar took her hand and dragged the sleeve of her top up to reveal a tattoo on her hand, on the same spot Skylar had hers. " Explanation?" Skylar asked Ruby And the only word that came out of Ruby's mouth was " Oh"
