We walked towards the forest with small weapons, mostly to show we didn’t need them. We walked where we would be covered by trees and the density of the forest, so no human would be able to see us. Raya was tracking the rogue, but I had another way to find him, but I let her do what she wanted and didn’t want them to know about me. At least not her. I had already found the rogue but to comply with Raya, we were following her lead on this. We walked for about 20 minutes finding the rogues' hideout. We stayed a certain distance. I didn’t want the rogue to catch our scents. I needed to come up with a plan where I used all my strength but not enough to shift. Luckily for myself, I can partially shift to not hurt my pup. My alpha aura would help, but then there’s the Raya problem. I needed to get the right blow. While I was thinking, I saw Raya a little too late and was headed for the Rogue head on. I just saw her being attacked by a rogue. She wouldn’t have a stand at chance if I was to sidekick the rogue of the face strong enough to destabilize him. Raya turned red with anger and started yelling, telling me off, and I saw Chase grab her and hit her face. I was startled. I’ve never seen that side of him, he would never ever strike a woman, but I guess his fear and her being outraged by my interruption couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Chase what the hell?! How dare you?!” Raya screamed and with sudden surprise by Chase’s action.
“Chase not the time we got 2 more seconds before the rogue wakes up, and I just need you guys to distract him long enough for me to get close.” I said, redirecting the problem. “Shift now okay.”
I could feel Jacob fuming, but he did know that there was a greater risk to attend to, and that was the safety of our pup. But he will have some words with Raya when this is over. I just hope that she realizes her problem. No later than the second the rogue was getting up. I got behind them and Raya glared at me and followed Chase and Jacob, they shifted, and I had to focus on just one part of my body to shift. I know I haven’t done this training in a while. It will take me a few minutes. It took me 5 minutes to get it done, which surprised me, but, I couldn’t celebrate. I saw what was happening a few feet away from me, I saw the opening I needed and, with my full pureblood alpha speed, I was able to strike without the rogue or anyone noticing the moment I moved. When they realized, the rogue dropped on the ground with blood coming out of his neck. When they got the second to fall on the realization that the rogue was dead, Jacob growled at Raya. Raya then whimpered and lowered her head and Chase growled as well towards her, and they attacked her. She tried to defend herself and when I thought she had enough I growled and stopped them. They both stopped in their tracks. Raya was crying in her human form. I never noticed when she shifted back, Jacob and Chase shifted as well.
“Don’t cry Raya. You know we have been trying with you, but you don’t learn. And if it was for Selina, you would be dead right now. You have no sense of gratitude!” Jacob yelled at Raya.
“Jacob, why are you yelling at me, and Chase, why did you hit me and both of you? Why did you attack me?” Raya questioned, looking confused and irritated.
“Are you serious, Raya?! We have always let you do and say what you wanted. Today was the last day. I can’t even understand how senseless you could have gotten. I mean look at what you just did. You tried to go head on with a rogue. Raya. We are orphans and packless. We didn’t learn anything that had to do with our kind. We found each other by goddess chance. Now we have someone who grew up with a pack who knows 1,000x’s more than us, yet you still couldn’t wait to hear her plan she was conducting in her mind. So no one could have gotten hurt. Yes, I'll get to her in a second about that s**t she just managed to pull off, but I don’t think it’s our business either.” Chased yelled at Raya, so infuriated.
“And you still had the nerve to yell at her, when she saved your life, Raya. I would say more, but I’ve come to realize something, Raya, you are not worth our time and efforts to make you understand where you are standing right now with us.” Jacob’s words hit Raya worse than any physical pain she could take.
“Jacob h…he…help…” I said, trying to hold on to a tree. There were black spots starting to blind me. I tried to reach out, but I ended up falling on the ground.
Jacobs P.O.V
I was so angry at Raya, but when I saw that chase got to her first, when Sel saved her from the rogue, I realized that Raya would never change, and she would continue to be this arrogant little girl who thinks she is right. When our fight with the rogue was finished, she started yelling at Selene. I saw a chase attack her and I couldn’t help it but attack her as well. I couldn’t continue to let her be disrespectful to Sel after all she’s done for her, for us. She taught us so much; our origins, our people, traditions, our God (well Goddess), true mates, packs, our history. We were so close to killing her when I heard Sel calling my name asking for help. I shifted back, she looked like she was losing consciousness. I ran towards her, caught her right in time for her not to hit the ground. It looked like she exerted herself, damn it. She didn’t give herself a good amount of time to execute her plan because of Raya, oh my goddess our pup. I hope our pup is okay. I carried Selene back to the motel. When we got there, people of the motel were waiting for us to let them know how it went, but when they saw both Selene and Raya knocked out of our arms, they hurried back inside. It looked like they were getting things ready for an emergency situation. The owner of the motel opened the door where chase and Raya knocked out in our arms, they hurried back inside it looked like they were getting things ready for emergency situation. The owner of the motel opened the door where Chase and Raya were staying first, since it seemed like she needed medical attention. She then opened our door. I laid Selene on the bed and asked for food and juice and water for her to gain some strength to check on our pup. I waited for about 1 hour next to her holding her hand. Praying to the moon goddess for her to be okay and our pup to be good to stay strong. I held her close and was hoping she could feel I’m here waiting for her. I waited for what seemed years for her to wake up. She woke up after 4 hrs. I felt her rustling in the covers. She was fluttering her eyes trying to adjust, to locate her surroundings. “Selene! Hey honey. Are you okay? What happened?” I asked desperately. She smiled at me and caressed my hand. I was confused by her calm reaction. “How are you okay? Did you hit your head?”
“No, I just think you are cute. When you are worried, by the way, how is Raya?” she asked with concern in her voice.
“Honey, how can you still care for her after what she is doing?” I asked her. I looked at her admiration.
“I just know Chase and you still care for her. Regardless of how much you guys wanted to kill her earlier.” she said calmly.
“I can’t find excuses for her anymore. She keeps testing your patients and your kindness. I don’t want her to do that again, she could have hurt our pup.” I said in an apologetic tone.
“I would never let anything happen to our pup. Plus, I could handle Raya. If I wanted to go through the ranking, I just don’t want to deal with those things. Plus, I’m just an outsider. I don’t have any right to tell her anything.” Sel said so calmly, like she just didn’t go through some situation.
“But Sel, we as a group decided you were to lead us,” I said.
“Yes, you all agreed, but Raya did not. In her mind, that is why she was always kind of able to rebel against me. Also the fact that I never used my real Alpha voice, plus I learned that I don’t want to lead by fear, I want my pack to want me to lead them, because they believed in me, not because of my blood or fear. It's hard to think that people fear me.” Said Selene.
“You read our minds to see if we are being truthful?” I asked.
“No, just Raya, she has already given me difficulty just fitting in with humans. Mind you, I have already been mingling with humans, who are okay with our presence, but your town no, and actually I wanted to change that. Raya was not helpful.” Selene said.
“So, you never trusted Raya? But you trusted Chase and me?” I asked.
“It’s not that I didn’t trust Raya. I just understood her, plus she gave me reason to be wary of her, but you and Chase, were easier to submit. Well, chase at least, there is something about you that I couldn’t control, I guess. I don’t know.” Selene said.
I guess she saw my surprised face, and she giggled. “What do you mean control?” I asked her.
“Don’t take it so scared, not control in the bad way. Every time an Alpha takes over, we have to be able to control our pack members, to keep them from over throwing us, that and over fighting skills and strength, but I wasn’t too worried about you guys, you are only 3 people not nearly strong enough to go against me in a fight.” Selene explained calmly.
“So, you knew everything that was going to play out?” I asked her.
“Not really, people can be unpredictable, but I wanted to be part of something,” Selene said.
“I’m sorry, you had to go through this.” I said to Selene.
She placed her soft hands on my cheeks “there’s no need to apologize, this was meant to be. This is the moon Goddess doing. I’m just following her lead”, Selene said with such confidence and faith, calmness. I was starstruck by it, it felt hypnotizing.
