Chapter 12

509 Words
As I stepped out of my dorm, I pressed the elevator button, the doors sliding open with a soft whoosh. A minute later, they reopened, and a girl with piercing blue eyes and raven-black hair stepped in, flanked by her friends. Her gaze locked onto mine, and a look of disdain twisted her features. I twisted my fingers, eager to escape the tension that seemed to thicken with every passing moment. The silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the whispers and giggles behind me. I felt exposed, my eyes reddening as I clenched my fists, fighting to hold back tears. The seconds ticked by at a glacial pace, each one stretching out like an eternity. Finally, the elevator doors slid open, and I rushed out, careful not to let my emotions betray me. Meanwhile, in the Dean's office, a different kind of drama was unfolding. The man from earlier stood before Mr. Evan, his hands shaking like leaves. "Sir, I'm sorry about walking in without knocking. I sincerely apologize," he stammered. Mr. Evan's voice was devoid of emotion, his eyes cold and calculating. "I'll let that slide. Next time, I'll have your head." The man's eyes widened, his face pale. "I want my wife to be safe," Mr. Evan continued, his voice dripping with menace. "If anything happens to her in or around the college's premises, this isn't a threat but a promise – I'll wipe out your family. Not even a child will be spared." The Dean watched as Mr. Evan turned and walked out, his back wet with sweat, his pants stained with a dark patch. The air seemed to vibrate with fear, the silence heavy with unspoken threats. I, oblivious to the drama unfolding elsewhere, wandered through the minimart, picking out snacks and junk food with abandon. It was my first night alone, and I was determined to indulge. As I pushed my cart towards the checkout counter, a sarcastic voice cut through the air. "Oh, look at cute little miss paying with dirty money," the girl from the elevator sneered, her friends snickering in agreement. The murmurs of the crowd behind me grew louder, and I felt my nails digging into my palms as I struggled to hold back my emotions. I kept my head down, paid for my groceries, and quietly walked off. As I trudged back to the dorm, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being herded towards some unknown fate. Why did bad things always happen to me? What had I done to deserve this? The questions swirled in my mind, a maelstrom of emotions that threatened to consume me. The darkness seemed to closing in around me, and I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Would I ever find peace, or would I be forever trapped in this cycle of pain and humiliation? I asked myself when my phone vibrated with a text message “were the h*ll are you ?” Love y’all , kindly support and encourage me by liking and commenting 🥺 and please follow
