Chapter 26 — The Person from the Past
Amelia's heart raced when she heard the voice.
“Amelia?”
She knew that voice.
Slowly, the figure stepped into the light.
Amelia's eyes widened.
“Daniel?”
Daniel looked older than she remembered, but there was no mistaking him.
Alexander immediately stepped between them.
“You know him?”
Amelia nodded.
“He was my father's assistant.”
Daniel looked at Alexander.
“And you must be Alexander.”
Alexander's expression hardened.
“How do you know my name?”
Daniel gave a nervous smile.
“Your father and Amelia's father used to talk about you.”
Amelia stepped forward.
“You know about the contract?”
Daniel looked at her.
“Yes.”
“Then why didn't you tell me?”
“Because your father made me promise.”
“Promise what?”
