Ridge grabbed my shoulders and hurled me to the ground. I landed on my new fluffy carpet. Ridge threw himself at Severin, but he dodged him. Severin was older, more experienced, but Ridge was fast and threw wild punches.
“No,” I begged.
Severin dodged Ridge’s blow to the head and side punched him.

I jumped between them, ready to receive whatever blow was about to reach me. Severin grabbed my waist instead and pulled me out of harm’s way. Our eyes remained on one another for what felt like hours, but in suspended time.
