"I need you home tomorrow night," Adams said making me take my eyes off my laptop to look at him.
We were both on our bed working on our own work.
"Why?" I asked focusing back on my computer as I pushed my reading glasses up.
"My parents are having a business party tomorrow night you need to be there as my... wife," He said his tone sounding almost disgusted when he said, wife.
I nodded my head.
"Do I have to dress formally?" I asked. "Ya, uh I actually bought you a dress since you clearly don't have any," he said. I looked at him a little taken back. "you didn't need to get me anything I am capable of going shopping for myself," I told him raising my voice higher.
"Really, half of the clothes you have is from Walmart,"
"Maybe I like the clothes from there,"
"You're the wife of a billionaire and you go to Walmart for shopping," he crossed his arm moving his laptop off of him and faced me.
"I told you before I didn't want or need your money,"
It was now my turn to move my laptop off of me and face him crossing my arms.
"Well then maybe start acting like your my wife,"
My mouth fell open and I was staring at him with anger boiling inside me and without really thinking I grabbed my pillow and threw it at him.
"What the f**k?"
"You deserved it,"
He looked at me with a scowl before he too grabbed a pillow throwing it at me making me throw one back and before we knew it we were in a battle of a pillow fight.
Feathers insides the pillows went everywhere and we continue to hit eachother. It felt like an eternity before we stopped falling on our backs on the bed both exhausted.
We laid there for a few minutes both still angry but I felt amazing since I got the chance of hitting him.
I heard him reach over taking out a Chanel bag.
"Here, I had this dress made just for you," he said dropping the bag on my stomach since I was still laying down. "It also matches the suit I am wearing tomorrow,"
I got up this time, taking the bag handing it back to him.
"Thanks but no thanks I think I will stick with my Walmart dresses,"
"El, I am begging you please for once, listen to me," pushing the dress once again against me. I looked at him taking the dress out of the bag.
my mouth fell open. I couldn't get my eyes off the dress. It was beautiful. No beautiful wasn't the word the dress was out of the world gorgeous.
The dress was baby blue colour with a pretty floral pattern at the bottom and low cut back with lace sleeves.
"Are you sure you don't want it?" he asked with his arms crossed with a devilish smirk.
"Uh... um, you know what you're right it is a big event and I don't think any of the dress in my closet will be good so I'll just borrow this dress for the night and then you can take it," I said scratching the back of my neck. I put the dress back in the bag dropping it on the floor and getting under the blanket turning off the light on my side.
I heard Adam laugh before he too got under the blanket shutting his light off.
"Goodnight," I whispered.
I waited for a second wondering if he will say it back.
He didn't. I guess he didn't hear me.
-
I watched tv all day didn't get up at all except the times I needed to use the bathroom. Today was Sunday which means I didn't work but it also means today was the party at Adam's parents.
To be honest I wasn't at all looking forward to it but I just couldn't wait to wear the beautiful dress he had gotten for me.
Speaking of him. Adam was MIA all day today. I didn't see him when I had woken up and he didn't come home at all.
He was probably planning for the party tonight since technically the party is for him and he needed everything to be perfect.
I called Kathy to come over to hang out but she said she was busy with one of her boy toys.
So I was stuck by my self until I had to get ready and Mr. asshole will come to pick me up. But I doubt he will, he probably will just send someone to get me since you know he is to busy.
I was on my way once again to the bathroom when I heard the phone ring. I groaned in annoyance walking to where the house phone was.
"Hello?"
"Hi Elena," the voice of my mother in law was heard on the other line.
Christine was a very sweet person. Both my parents had died in a car crash and the void of not having a mother or father kills me yet in many ways, Adam's parents have shown me what it's like to have parents. She knew what had happened with Spencer and for that, she had told me how much she had hated her for ruining her son's life. But like everyone else, she believes that Adam and I are happy.
"Hi Mrs. Wilson, how are you?"
"I'm great sweety! How are you?"
"I am very well thanks. So what do I owe for the pleasant surprise of you calling me," I asked
She giggled, "You know tonight is the party and all and Adam is not letting me do anything and I am dying of boredom. Do you mind coming here and tell your husband to take a break. He is not listening to me what's so ever," she said almost out of breath at how fast she had talked.
"You know Adam when he is in work mode there no stopping him no matter what," I told her.
She knew I was right. It's almost impossible to get him to stop working when he wants to finish something.
"I know but he might listen to you,"
I doubt that
"Uh, I don't think he will when he is focused," I said praying she would stop asking me. As much as I loved my in-laws I hated going there because we always have to pretend that we are in love but it's all fake and they fall for it.
"Please Elena," she pleaded to make me hard to say no. I hesitate, sighing loudly. "Ok fine I'll be there soon,"
"Oh, you're the best ill see you soon El bye,"
"Bye," I waited until she hung up the phone before setting the phone down.
Why couldn't I have just said no and now I have to pretend that I was in love with Adam.
I got out of my car after parking it in there driveway and made my way inside. I brought everything with me to get ready at their home since it would be easier that way.
I walked inside of their home seeing at the beautiful decor for tonight.
"Elena honey," Adam's dad greeted me as soon as he saw me wrapping his arms around me.
"Hi Mr. Wilson," I said before letting go.
"What brings you here?" he asked.
"I told her to come," Mrs. Wilson said before I could answer.
"Ah, my saviour," She said hugging me and I laughed. "He is in the living room," she whispered in my hear before letting me go. I nodded my head setting my things down I made my way to the living room with his parents following me.
I better win an Oscar after this
"Adam," I said finding him sitting on the couch with his laptop open as he typed. He looked up to see me shocked.
"What are you doing here?" he asked getting up from the couch.
"Your mom asked me to come because you keep working too much," I said walking up to him and placing my hand on his chest. "You need to take a break babe,"
He was confused and frowned at me when I started acting all sweet but I quickly gestured him to his parents and he immediately knew what I was doing.
"Oh you know me I can't stop working when I start," he said.
"Adam, listen to your wife and take a break," Adam's dad said.
"But dad..."
"No but you're going to take a break with your amazing and beautiful wife," I interrupted him. I kissed his cheeks standing on my tiptoes since he was super tall. It was the only way it will look more real.
Adam was surprised at my sudden action but didn't say anything.
"Ok fine, how could I say no to my amazing wife," he said looking at me with his I am going to kill you, expression.
"Yes thank you, El. I knew he would listen to you," Mrs. Wilson said.
I smiled at her.
She told us to go rest in Adam's old room. I was hoping she would give me some work to do because I don't think it will safe for me to be in a room alone with Adam right now. But she insisted on me keeping company to my lovely husband.
We walked into the room and right away Adam opened his laptop working again plopping down on his bed stretching his legs.
"You should seriously take a break Adam," I said sitting down next to him stretching my legs as well.
"When I said I can't stop when I start I meant it," he said not bothering to look at me. His eyes are literally glued to the screen.
"Come on you can't always be working," I said.
"Why do you care," he asked.
I waited for a moment wondering what to say but he was right why did I care what he did.
"That's what I thought, you don't care,"
