Felicia's POV
Five years later,
As I exited the airport, my heart raced in excitement and urgency. Five years had passed since I had fled with the hope of leaving behind the dangers and troubles that haunted me. Yet, fate had brought me back to the same place once again.
The place where I never wanted to set my feet again, that took everything away from me, but the best parting gift it gave me was my babies.
“Mommy, will Felina be okay after getting treated by the doctors here?” Little Emyrus asked in his cute and worried tone. He had seen his sister suffer so much for the past few months. His small hand clung to mine trying to get reassurance from me.
My heart ached to see my son worry for his sister. I glanced down at him, his innocent eyes filled with concern. Before I could answer him, my friend spoke up.
“Baby, everything will be fine,” Matilda chimed in, trying to reassure Emyrus. “Once she seeks blessing from the pack of the alpha, everything will be better.”
“Maty, he doesn’t even know what a blessing is!” I shot a glance at my friend's side.
My son was a 5 year old kid, who still didn't understand much about the world, let alone the traditions and rituals of the packs.
“Well, then it’s the perfect time to teach him, isn’t it?” Matilda asked Emyrus and winked at him playfully.
Emyrus looked at his aunt with a fluffy smile on his face “Aunt is right, Mommy. I am a big boy now.” He declared proudly, puffing his chest out.
I couldn't’ help but laugh even in such a distressed situation when my daughter only had a month to live.
Felina, my daughter, was born with a weak constitution. After being banished from my pack, my twin kids couldn't undergo the werewolf rituals. Since they were left unfinished, Felina somehow ended up having poor health.
I tried everything I could to find the cure in the past few years but when I learned that my daughter might not be able to see the next season, I decided to return to the city, despite knowing the fact that my life would not be spared if my former pack people would notice my presence in the country.
“Maty, I am going to take Lin directly to the Shadow Moon Pack and beg Kaden to perform the ritual,” I whispered to Matilda as I did not want Emyrus or Felina to know about this.
“Mommy, is my brother not going with us?” Felina asked as she moved away from the warm comfort of my neck.
“No, for now, you need this more,” I told Felina and patted her back, making her return to her previous condition.
The blessing ritual was important for Emyrus as well, however, I could ask any pack’s alpha to perform it. But what Felina needed was a powerful alpha, who was undefeated in his lifetime, and other than Kaden, I knew none.
“Alright, you take Lin there, I will take Emyrus to the hotel we booked,” Matilda pronounced.
I watched Emyrus leave with Matilda. As I made her way to the Shadow Moon pack, all the memories from the past flooded over. The betrayal, the banishment, everything was flashing right in front of my eyes.
However, none of those mattered anymore. I was not the young Felicia who believed in the purity of love. Now, I was a mother, and other than my kids I didn’t care for anything else, not even my life.
I was on my way praying to God that Kaden would accept my request and bless Felina and was still worried when my cell phone started ringing.
I took out my cell phone from my purse, Matilda’s name was flashing on the screen. Without hesitation I picked it up.
“Hello, we have not yet reached the Pack’s Mansion, we are still one hour away from there, I will—” I informed Matilda and was cut off by her before I could say what I had to say.
“Hear me out, Felicia,” Matilda said and continued. “You don’t need Kaden for the ritual. I just performed a locating spell and found that there is a mysterious Crescent Temple two hours away from Kaden’s Mansion.”
“What? So, Kaden is not the most powerful alpha in this world?” My eyes widened in shock.
In my life, I have never seen someone more powerful than Kaden.
“Yes. Now, quit asking and go there before Kaden’s people come after you,” Matilda said, her words full of urgency, and hung up the call.
I looked at the driver and told him about the change in the location. The taxi driver argued with me, but when I offered double the money I promised, he happily agreed with my request.
My mind filled up with the thought of new mysterious Alpha who was even powerful than the Alpha King.
Two hours later, the taxi stopped at a secluded place, it looked old, weird but royal, and the atmosphere was tranquil which made me forget her grief, offering me a glimmer of hope.
I paid the driver and advanced my footsteps with my daughter in my arms on the cobblestone pavement. Because the journey was long, Felina had fallen asleep in my arms.
"Is someone really living here? Why does this place look so quiet?" I murmured. Finally, after a few meters of walk, the mansion appeared in front of me. It was bigger than the one, where Kaden lived.
I halted for a moment, looking at its structure. "How come I never knew an alpha werewolf lived in this city?" I thought. The dry leaves from the tree around the giant mansion fell down as the wind suddenly blew.
"Excuse me, is anyone around?" I wandered my eyes around, hoping for someone to be there. I was aware that the alphas would usually get angry if someone entered their mansions without their permission, and I couldn't afford any mistakes.
“Finally, you appeared on my doorstep on your own," came a husky, deep voice from behind me.
I turned around only to find a man in royal attire with emerald green eyes, a color I had never seen. Instantly, I felt something weird in my heart, but I didn't know what it was.
“Excuse me? Are you talking to me?” I asked, gathering my courage.
“Of course!" The man strode toward me and saw a girl in my arms. "Our daughter!" He murmured, and he embraced the two of us in a warm hug.
I froze at my spot and stopped blinking at the sudden gesture of the man.
