The never will be wanted visitor roamed her eyes around, in the form of the beautiful figured, both public and body, council president Coleen Warton welcomed them first thing in the room, she was still in her uniform, probably it was Laura's first to see her in school uniform rather than in their usual council outfit such as orange polo shirt that made them looked like prisoners of the school which oddly fit their situation, but thanks to the black slacks that made them at least a little formal.
She has her legs crossed, she looked very amused and impressed that a room like that existed without the council's knowledge all those time. Her gaze were focused on the pictures on the left wall, her eyes were fixed at one place with her cold but solemn expression.
"What are you doing here? How did you find this room?" Blake asked seriously, his forehead were in a little creased, and finally getting the council president's attention.
The two walked towards the table, pulling the two available chairs and were now seated from across the council president, their hands were still dirty and they were still obviously surprised that there was another person inside with them aside from them where the room was only supposed to be known by the club members alone.
"Nice club room." She answered, completely ignoring Blake's questions which annoyed Laura because she had the same questions in mind. "I knew something was off with the club room up there when I came in with my secretary. I always see you coming here but when I tried peeking in, no one was inside. I see that you've been here all along."
"I didn't know that a president could be this interested in my club." He remarked, less delighted by that fact. "Shouldn't you be in the comfort of your own room full of papers and faithful followers?"
She stopped for a second and shrugged, "I think I found another room for comfort. Expect that I'll be here more often."
"What? No!" Laura exclaimed. standing up to her seat in too much opposition and disliked by the idea of having her with them. "You'll just divulge our plan to your evil commanders."
"Laura Simpson..." She said her name with disappointment as she shook her head slowly. Laura wanted to snap and tell her that they weren't close and she's older than her to call her without formalities, but well, she reminded herself that she was a student. "I could do that days ago but look? You're still here, though sentinels were after you. Congrats on avoiding them by the way."
"What do you want, Miss President?" Blake calmly asked, staring straight into the President's eyes. He was here again, the confusion of doubt and trust he felt towards the council president. There was really something he could sense like she was not fully sided with the evil group of the school and sort of helping them too, but with her attitude, he couldn't pinpoint which was true and which was not.
"You see, I'm mourning. My non-biological father was killed." She confided, she closed her eyes and crossed her arms. There was something in her voice that touched Laura's heart, she may sound emotionless and casual by how she said those words but she could feel her grief. "Principal Barker was my only ally and supporter. He promised that he will watch me graduate safely from this terrible university, but these traitor commanders didn't even spare him."
"Why would you think that they would spare him? Anyone against their crimes would be killed." Laura asserted, shaking her head in the president's naiveness. "You should know that, President. You are part of them."
The young woman gritted her teeth, her eyes darted to the two with so much gravity. "I know that, the very reason why I'm here and hiding."
"You're hiding?"
Coleen nodded at Laura, "I overheard them in their meeting earlier. Usually, I was part of that but they excluded me today because they are suspecting me as a spy, and I also heard that they are going to eradicate my life and so as yours. So we're all hiding."
"We heard it too earlier through the sentinels' conversation when we came by the Principal's Office. They were chatting about capturing a spy with two more scholars. I thought it was Miss Laura." Blake let out, falling into deep thought. "We are hiding, yes, but that doesn't mean we're scared, I have the best side chic here, she could beat up even all of the sentinels combine."
"Stupid! That hurts!" Laura whined when Blake kept on hitting her injured shoulder. She kicked his chair for revenge which made him fall to the ground. "I should get these back to those sentinels yesterday."
Blake groaned before standing up, looking at the council president who was watching them with amusement in her eyes, probably wondering how did the club president become a battered president under his member. So thinking of that, he mans up and dusted his hand off cooly, "It is not what you think it is, Miss President. I can still order her around. I'm just being friendly."
"I don't think that is the case.." She commented, shifting her gaze from Laura to Blake, then she shook her head and shrugged, "Anyway, I'm not here to watch your childishness, I want to tell you that whatever your plan is, do it as soon as possible before it's too late. I also brought this.."
The two looked at the black notebook she was holding, she opened the first page which showed the name of the owner. "Earl's Diary." Blake read.
"It was all here— The location of the memory card, what they've found, the crimes this school hides, the happenings inside the tunnel, every single detail is here. I knew everything from the very start, well only half before Eloise's departure, anyway, you are way way behind Foster, and so I doubt if you can save the school." She said, throwing the notebook on the table to which Blake took it immediately and read the content.
Everything was filmed, the memory card's location is written on page 165, this is the key to our freedom from evildoers. I'm so sick of this, I've lost a lot of friends from this school. To whoever finds this first, I hope you are not allied with them, if you are a scholar go to the sleuth club president and ask for his help, if you are a teacher please don't tell the other professors about this and just give this to Blake Foster, if you are a council member, give it to Principal Barker. Don't read what's inside, you'll never live like you were before you read this.
-Earl B.
It was the note written on the second page, warning for whoever finds his diary first. Blake turned the pages and what was written gave them goosebumps. It was the way how the three friends were ordered to commit suicide. And what shocking was the person who ordered them to kill themselves was not an ordinary person in the school— it was the disgusting director Sarah Edison.
Laura gritted her teeth, she never really liked her just by the start of her first day, but she didn't expect her to be that worst. She told Leo to jump out of his room, and when he refused, she told him that she will spare Blaise so he made her promise before he jumped out of the third floor. But Sarah broke her promise, she told Blaise to hang herself, using the same strategy of sparing Phil which as the kind-hearted Blaise believed her treacherous words, unsurprisingly Sarah broke it again, giving Phil hydrogen cyanide that killed him instantly. What's inhumane in that was... she watched them all die with a smile on her face, not knowing that Earl was eavesdropping all those time, and heard everything.
"So, it's Sarah Edison." Blake muttered, "She was your commander and the person behind all of this? She was also the one whom we heard when Principal Barker called us before his due end."
Coleen shot her head to him, "He called you before he died?" She repeated, confused, and surprised. Blake nodded. "Why? Why you and not me?"
"Maybe because we're trustworthy and you're not," Laura said nonchalantly, looking at her nails with a teasing smile.
"Shut up, transferee. I'm not talking to you." She sternly replied which made Laura's teasing smile swept away and changed into gritted teeth. She glared at her and thinking of which part of her body would she break first— her long legs? arms? neck? should she cut her tongue too?
"He called and told us not to talk to you. He doesn't trust you enough." Blake blatantly said, "If you are up to something, quit it Miss President."
"That's because he thought I was part of that organization! He didn't trust me because he learned that I was working for them when in fact I was just protecting him and me!" She defended, standing up in frustration. She walked back and forth, calming herself from her burst out. "He did tell me not to get involved in the business of the commanders when I won the council election, but that was too hard when the director herself threatened me that she'll kill Principal Barker and would put the blame on me if I won't work with them."
"What work have you done for them so far?" Laura inquired, expecting no answer from the council president but she stopped from walking and looked at her.
"The worst was to kill Earl."rst to see her in school uniform rather than in their usual council outfit.
