chapter 3

I wake up the next morning at 5:45am. I roll out of bed and make my way to the bathroom. I shower and brush my teeth and hair. I stare at myself in the mirror. " Today is my birthday and I might meet my mate!!"

"Make sure to dress to impress!" said Kora

I shake my head at her and walk to my closet. I began to pull out all my outfits until I find the perfect one. I put on my hot pink off the shoulder bell top and a pair of black skinny jeans. I grab my boots and sit on my bed to put them on.

I glance at my clock and see it is a little after 7am. I rush down the stairs to the dinner hall for breakfast. It's still early so most won't be here yet. I am feeling nervous everytime I see a male. I don't know who my mate will be and I what I'm going to feel. All my mated friends describe something different.

The omega brings me a plate with sausage, pancakes, bacon, and fruit. She bows saying happy birthday and walks quickly away. I start to eat and enjoy my breakfast when I get the most amazing smell hit my nose.

Brownies with a slight raspberry note engulfs my senses and I begin to take really deep breaths. I cannot focus on my breakfast anymore and slowly begin to turn trying to figure out where the smell is coming from.

Standing at the top of the stairs with my father is Alpa James, and he is looking right at me as if I was the most beautiful person he had ever seen. He begins to walk quickly down the stairs causing the room to stop and stare.

"Mate" He says and wraps his arms around me taking big breaths in the crook of my neck. I stand there frozen, my brain trying to understand what is happening.

"Mate, Mate, Mate!!!" Kora is howling in my head.

"Are you sure?" I ask but didn't realize I said it out loud.

Alpha James laughs and pulls me closer. "Of course I'm sure. Don't you feel it? The sparks? The pull? Does my scent not entice you?"

"Yes to all the above!" I say. "But you are an Alpha and from what I hear a really strong one."

"And you are an Alphas daughter, a really strong one!" He says finally letting go and holding onto my hand.

My father joins us to congratulate us.

"Excellent! The moon godess has blessed you both with an exceptional mate. This will also help strengthen our alliance!! What a marvelous turn of events!!"

"Indeed" Alpha James says. "Skye how about we go somewhere a little less crowded so that we can talk and see how we feel about this mate bond. I'm sure we both would like a little time to get to know each other a bit."

He begins to lead me back upstairs and away from my father. He takes me down the hall to his guest room. After he unlocks the door and opens it he gestures for me to enter. Slowly I step inside and hear him shut and lock the door.

He grabs me around the waist and turns me to face him. Next thing I knew he crushed his lips onto mine and backed us up onto the door. My body was stunned for a few seconds before I wrap my arms around his neck and relax I to his kiss.

We explored each other's mouths with our tongues. I was getting lost in his smell, taste, and the sparks his hands were creating as his hands ran down my side and arms. We broke the kiss to get air and he began to kiss my jawline and then down my neck.

I released a small moan and he grunted in approval. My hands began to trail down his stomach as I felt every muscle. He lifted me off the ground and I wrapped my legs around him. He walked us over to the bed and gently laid us down.

He let go of me to remove his shirt and that's when my brain caught up. " I thought we came up here to talk?" I asked him as I scooted off the bed and put some distance between us.

He released a frustrated growl and sat on the bed with a sigh. "Yes I supposed we should do that first. then I will take you to my bed." He said with a husky voice. I bit my lip and blushed turning away from him. I'm not sure I'm ready for him to take me and I'm not sure how he will react when I tell him so.
