Chloe’s POV
As I got to the bottom of stairs I realized Kade was already there talking to his grandfather. Grandfather yelled there’s my girl as I walked in and I could feel Kades stare on me as I walked over and hugged grandfather. I heard Kade quietly ask what I was doing there in his usual cold tone and grandfather just smiled and gestured for me to sit.
I took my seat next to grandfather, who was sat at the head of the table, and Kade was across from me. We all sat in silence for minute until one of the wait staff came in with our first course, a delicious soup was sat in front of each of us. As we all finished the first course grandfather finally broke the silence
“So Kade, I was thinking about the future and how I am going to need to be relinquishing my titles of CEO very soon, it is to much for me in my weak state”
Kade looked at grandfather with an intrigued look “so I can take it over without being married first, grandfather?” Kade asked
“No my boy” grandfather said “that part of the contract is still a must. But I was thinking since Stella has taken off and called off the wedding maybe you could move forward with someone else” grandfather looked at me and I felt my heart race as I was unsure of what to do or say and also unsure how Kade would react.
Kade shot me a glance with cold eyes and looked back his grandfather with anger “HER?” He raised his voice “you want me to marry your caregiver?” His eyes were filled with furry at this point.
“Calm down my boy” grandfather said calmly “I think this will do you both good. Chloe has a good head on her shoulders she is a good woman and you need someone who will balance you out.”
“No.” Kade scoffed “I will find Stella she will come back and we will get married. End of discussion” he said his voice icy.
“Now Kade” grandfather continued in his calm yet firm tone “this isn’t up for discussion that woman left and you need to married by end of month so you can take over the company. I don’t have much longer and I would like to see your wedding and maybe meet my first grandchild before I go” he gave me a mischievous smirk and I could help choke on my drink I was drinking. A CHILD. Grandfather never mentioned wanting me to have children with Kane just the marriage part.
Grandfather could see my surprise and with a light chuckle he continued on with his proposal “now we have about three week until this month is done and I would like for the wedding to be scheduled the last weekend of June. I will have my planners get everything set up I will take care of all expenses all you have to do is show up” he said to Kade.
I could tell by the look on Kades face he was not happy about this situation but grandfather was adamant and he was not going to take no for an answer. As Kade was about to speak up grandfather cut him off.
“I think I will take my leave now I need to get some rest I will call and make arrangements tomorrow and get the planning started” with that I stood up to help grandfather to his room but he stopped me and said “I think you and your fiancé should stay here and get acquainted, I can make it to my room myself dear.” Before I could protest grandfather walked out of the room.
Kade and I sat in silence for what felt like an eternity before I finally broke the silence
“This wasn’t my idea, ka-” he cut me off
“I don’t care whose idea this was I am only doing this to get my position as CEO. I don’t know why grandfather would want me to marry someone as low class and as worthless as you but if that’s what I have to do then so be it!” He seethed through gritted teeth his fists clenched in the table “we will stay married for 2 years then we can go our separate ways” he stated his eyes cold.
I could only nod feeling as though anything I say at this point would only anger him more. With that Kade stood and took his leave never even glancing back at me. I immediately went up to check on grandfather to make sure he didn’t need anything before I went to bed.
I knocked on the door to grandfathers room and heard him call out for me to enter. I slowly entered asking grandfather if he needed anything before bed. He shook his head no and gestured for me to come sit next to him.
As I sat next to him he took my hand and patted it his eyes warm and caring.
“I know Kade is a lot and he is not happy about this arrangement” grandfather said “but I also know this is what is best for him and once he gets to know you he will see that as well. I believe that once everything falls into place Kade will see what he has in front of him and he will find the love in his heart for you. I believe you two will make a good match my dear he just needs to come around that’s all.” Grandfather said assuringly.
“I’m not sure grandfather he seems very upset about this arrangement” I said holding back tears thinking of Kade’s words from earlier.
“He will come around dear I promise” grandfather said as he drifted to sleep.
With grandfather sleeping I took to my room to get ready for the night. I also needed to get ready for the drama that lie ahead as I prepared myself to marry Kade White in just 3 weeks time. I laid in bed thoughts racing about how my life would soon change dramatically as I drifted off to sleep.
