Chapter six: Lessons from Grandpa

474 Words
“Aria grandpa and Flynn are here for your lessons.” My mom comes into my room and wakes me. I groan and roll over. “Come on he's not going to wait for forever.” I finally crawl out of bed, my hair a wreck, and pull on some of my pants and a shirt. I pull my brown curls up onto my head and walk outside. “Now how is my beautiful granddaughter?” My grandpa says and holds his arms open for me. I walk into his arms and he wraps me in his big arms in a hug. I can see Talon walk up behind us and bow in greeting to my grandpa. He nods back to Talon. Flynn and Talon greeted each other. “Okay Aria today we are going to be learning how to channel the power from your dragon for you to use. Now close your eyes and feel Talons magic in you.” I close my eyes and do as he says. I try and focus on Talon, and him inside me. I finally clear my head and feel the small humming in the pit of my stomach and focus on it. The more I focus, the stronger the hummig becomes. “Okay I got it.” I say keep my eyes closed. “Alright now, Talon is a fire dragon. Take the magic you feel and visualize you using it, what you want to do with it.” He says. “I focus back on the magic again and visualize me holding a flame in my hand. After a minute I slowly open my eyes and see a small flame dancing in my hand. I look to my grandpa with a huge smile on my face and his face matches mine. “Good Aria! Good good. Now focus on something bigger, a bigger flame or anything.” I instantly clothes my eye and imagine a large fire whip in my hand. I open my eyes and I'm smiling a 1000 watt smile as I stare down at the large whip in my hand. My grandpa's eyes are wide as he stares at me. “Very impressive. Now try and use it.” He says and I nod. I focus as hard as I can and move my hand to use the whip. It moves easily through the air as I use it. I look to my grandpa and he has a huge smile on his face.      We practice for an hour or two more before grandpa says that it's enough. “Now I want you to practice while i'm gone that way it just comes as naturally breathing.” “Yes sir.” I say and we walk back to my house. I look back to see Talon following me, always making sure I'm safe.
