Matt POV
Today is the day of my Alpha ceremony. I am so excited but I also have a foreboding feeling that something is going to happen. Ben is still no use. For the last five years, I have hardly heard from him. I still shift into him when fighting and he makes himself known when necessary, but other than that, he ignores me. This is unheard of from a wolf and a little bit worrying, but no matter how hard I try, he just ignores me most of the time.
I go up to my room and change into my suit. I want to make a good impression in front of my pack. They still see me as the innocent little boy from years ago, I hide most of my outbursts from them by targeting the omegas who no one cares about or have rough s*x with Regina, which she likes by how insatiable she has become. “That is one crazy she-wolf, not that you’re much better” Ben pipes up.
“Oh hello Ben, been a while. Where the hell have you been mutt? And don’t insult Regina, whether you like it or not she will be our chosen mate and Luna of my pack” I respond angrily. He has not spoken to me all week and his block has been up for the past three days.
The block quickly goes back up and Ben ignores me again. Guess he didn’t appreciate being called a mutt I think to myself.
I get changed and style my hair before heading downstairs with a smile on my face. It is finally the day I have been waiting for.
I walk out of the pack house and onto the stage where I then sit while my father starts to address the crowd. Regina comes and sits beside me, holding my hand throughout the speech.
“Hello Sunlight pack, it is a pleasure and a delight to see you all here today. Today is the day when I step down as alpha and my son takes the reign. I became alpha at 18 years old when my father was attacked by rogues”, my father starts. I scoff at this part as I know the he was the one who sent the rogues. Regina hangs off my arm while my father talks about how he loved his father and the achievements that he and the pack have done since he took over.
“I have spent the last 40 years building this pack up, and it makes me immensely proud to have been your alpha. Matthew, please could you join me?” I stand up and walk over, standing facing my father.
My father takes the ceremonial blade and slices his palm, “I, Alpha Percy Kaede, hereby relinquish the title of alpha of the Sunlight pack to my son Matthew Kaede.” I take the blade from my father and look at Regina who is smiling before I turn to focus on the knife and my palm.
Ava POV
Jake and I made good time to the train station, as we were slightly early we spend a bit of time window shopping before we stop off at a café for a drink.
We finally hear them say that our train has started boarding, Jake and I grab our stuff and head over to the relevant gate. We get comfy in the seats and start to talk about what we will do when we arrive. We decide to drop our luggage and then head over to the Sunlight pack territory.
My friends have told me that today is Matthews’s alpha ceremony, so we are hoping to make it just before he goes for his run with the pack. I hope that this is a ceremony that Matthew will remember, and not necessarily for all of the right reasons.
A few hours later
I arrive at the border to the Sunlight pack territory, what surprises me is that there is no security, which makes it easier for me to enter. Jake takes my hand as we walk into the territory, heading up the long path to the pack house. By out calculations we should just reach the pack house by the time Matthew is either alpha or just after.
After a while the pack house comes into view, it still looks as dull and depressing as before. Jake and I walk up and around to the pack where we can here the ceremony has already commenced.
Matthew is standing on the stage looking confused as two thirds of the pack remain standing, oblivious that we had entered their territory. Regina is standing behind him, smiling at the sight of Matthew finally being made alpha. But is not sporting his mark I notice, maybe trouble in paradise?
“Give them hell babe” Jake whispers to me.
I give Jake a smile and then turn to face the stage, I take a deep breath and shout.
