Ava POV
Memories of my father have returned, but the rest of my past is still a blur. Jake and I had focused on getting them back but when I reclaimed back the pack the memories had to be put on hold.
I have spent the last year building the pack but up from the ground. The pack members have been a great help, they took to me being their alpha like fish to water, respecting me and aiding when it was needed. They also listened to what I had to say and then either agreed or gave me feedback. We had a problem with rogues for about three months until I decided that instead of attacking them we should instead listen to them and if they wanted help them. If they did not want our help then we would send them on their way or punish them for any crimes they had committed on our territory.
I decided to do this because when I was a slave I would have accepted any helping hand, all I wanted was a bit of kindness. That was when I realized that just because something was normal, we did not have to follow the rest. All of the rogues that have strayed into our territory since we have heard out, many seeking us out after hearing that we was offering second chances.
Due to the number of years they have been rogues, many of them are strong and make excellent warriors. So that is the job assigned to many of them, although some have become nurses, teaching assistants or whatever they wanted. Once they became a member of this pack then they were free to pursue whatever they wanted.
Not only have we been taking in rogues, but also Sunlight pack members too. Matthew must think I am crazy, as if I wouldn’t recognize members of his pack that he sent to me. But I welcomed them with open arms and played ignorant. I have been feeding Alpha Matthew the wrong information, he thinks that I am unmated and pinning for my mate and that Jake is Luna in name only. However, this is not true as Jake and I married, mated and marked each other four months ago.
It has been imperative that alpha Matthew believe that I am still single as it has enabled us to find out what his plans and movements are. We now know that Matthew knows I am the jade wolf, the only other people to know this are my pack.
As Matthew has not outed me to the werewolf council then I knew something was up. It turns out the Matthew knows about the prophecy and wants me to mate and mark him so that he can become all powerful and take over the werewolf world. That is what the pack members that he sent to spy on me informed me of when they pledged their allegiance to my pack instead.
The idea of the lie in the prophecy was that it would bring out others true desire for the jade wolf to see, therefore the jade wolf would be able to know who was really on their side and who simply wanted power.
I thought it was a very smart move by the seer who first spoke of the prophecy. They knew that the jade wolf would know the truth, making it safe for the prophecy to be slightly changed.
I look at the invitation in my hand, only a few more hours before we head off to the mating ball. Me, Jake and the mateless wolves are all invited. I am mainly invited because all alphas are, it’s a time for alphas to get together while mateless wolves attempt to find their mates.
I slip on my dress, a deep red embossed with little gems around the hem and bust. It is strapless, a love heart top with a corset on the back to compliment my curves but then goes into a ball gown at the waist, the front is short while the back is long and has a slight train. I pair the dress with some red heels and slight make up. I have my hair down in ringlets which give my face a softer look.
I head down the stairs to be greeted by Jake. I take in a deep breathe at the sight of him, he looks so handsome in his tuxedo, with shiny shoes and his hair gelled back.
“You look absolutely breath taking my angel.” Jake grabs me and hugs me after spinning me around. He then dips my as he kisses me, I literally feel like a princess with my prince right now.
“Off you go you two or you’ll be late. Make sure you keep Alpha Ava safe tonight Jake, I have a bad feeling.” My head chef Mary says in a grandmotherly way.
“Of course Mary, I will protect Ava and the single wolves coming with us tonight.”
Mary ushers us out the door and to our car which is surrounded with warrior wolves. The single wolves are in the mini bus behind us, looking all excited and full of hope for the mating ball.
