CHAPTER FOUR A b***h? Me? And he even had the f*****g nerve to call me a stuck-up ass. Did he forget I was his boss? I own a f*****g Lamborghini and he takes the bus home, yet he thought he could call me names. I was going to show him who the b***h was. I furiously cut a piece of steak, my brain inflamed by the thoughts of the whiny step-in secretary. Why was I still thinking about his words even now?   “You know you don’t have to pretend to like me Ares because I don’t like you like that either. You are just not my type.” I pulled my attention back to the gorgeous woman sitting across me.   “Pretend? Lisa, I would never pretend with you. There is just something about you that is drawing me towards you. You know what they say about opposites? They attract and I may not be your type now but soon you’ll discover that is actually the best part of it. I hope that soon you’ll be able to return my affection for you,” I smiled warmly, reaching for the back of her hand over the table and massaging it softly. Damn my mum for making me do this. At this point in my life, I had gotten used so much to flirting around with women that I was never sure what I meant or didn’t mean. To me, they were just words rolling off my tongue with no hue of excitement in them unlike the old days.   “You and I have never exactly been buddies. Sure, we went to the same university, interacted a couple times but that was just it. If you badly want that merger with my father, why don’t you ask him yourself? Sleeping with me won’t get you that damn contract,”   “What are you talking about?” I played dumb. How the hell did she know?   “Look, I’m not a kid anymore and neither are you. Its really tiring having people like you showing up in my life like this, pretending to be good old classmates that realize I existed suddenly just because they want my father’s company. Just quit it because I would never like you and also, thank you for the steak. It was a little bit on the dry side just like everything that comes off your mouth,” she suddenly stood up, grabbed her purse and left. Sardonic much?   Well, winning Lisa was probably going to be harder than I thought. Business wise, mum was right. A merger with pink entertainment would be a gold’s worth but in reality dealing with Santos was nothing close to what I wanted. Despite his daughter Lisa being so damn gorgeous, he was known to have an arrogant attitude and I would hate to have to deal with that for the rest of my life. In truth, up till now, I had not met anyone that would stir me deep from within and I was beginning to believe that love was just a dumb thought that some fool made up. I was twenty seven, dated a couple of women but never did I once feel a flutter in my heart.   After paying up for the dinner, I slid into my Aventador J, speeding around LA to let off the frustration. On one hand was the pressure to get on Lisa’s good side and on the other hand, a very insubordinate step-in secretary. Well, maybe insubordinate was not quite the exact word for it but that didn’t make me unlike him any less.  I should have fired him but on what grounds exactly? Ugh! Workplace opinions. I was distracted from my mental ranting by my phone ringing. Paul just knew the right time to call.   “Hey,” I said after putting him on speaker, my gaze alert on the road.   “That doesn’t sound like the normal I’m-very-stressed-because-of-my-work type of hey. What is bothering the big bad wolf?” He joked.   “Just tell me you a down for a couple of drinks Paul because I really need it tonight,”   “Why do you think I was calling you up?” Thinking about it now, his tone did sound a bit sad even though he tried to cover it. Hmm…what happened to him?   “Okay. Meet you at Owens in ten,” I said, already changing lanes.   I was just about to get into the club when my phone rang but this time the call was from an unknown number. This had to be one of those prank calls and honestly, I was not in the mood even though I found myself accepting it.   “This is a call from Metropolitan detention center. Sebastian Hernandez is attempting to contact you. If you accept the charges, press one to proceed with the call,”   Sebastian Hernandez? Why did that name sound familiar? Wait, you gotta be kidding me. What the hell was my step-in secretary doing in jail? I pressed one, ready to storm him with some questions.   “Good evening sir,” He sounded pretty scared.   “I wouldn’t say it’s a good evening at least not any more since you called. Now do you care to tell me what you are doing in jail right now?” I questioned, keeping my voice down while leaning against my car.   “I-It’s not really that important but I just called you to inform you that there is high possibility I won’t be coming to work tomorrow,”   “What did do you do?” I questioned.   “Its not important,” He then cut off the call.   He called me and then cut off the call on me without a f*****g explanation. Was he a f*****g i***t or what? I had not known someone to get on my nerve this much expect for my mother until now. You know what? I didn’t give a f**k that he got his tiny ass in jail.   “Hey buddy,” I looked up, meeting Paul as he stepped out of his car.   “Hey,” We bro-hugged.   “Time to down those drinks. Tonight, I’m taking my bourbon dry,” he said, smiling in his usual euphoric manner.   “You know what? How about you go ahead? I gotta take care of something and also, do you happen to still be friends with that metropolitan head warden? Because I kind of need a favor right now,”
