“Well, did he have anything else?”
Cam was in Ruth’s cell that evening. Just the two of them were there. Tuck and Annie were unexplainably absent.
“No. But he’ll keep his ears open. He may be able to find out something but he doesn’t want to get caught.”
“Can’t say I blame him.” Ruth paced back and forth in front of Cam who sat on the bunk. Cam couldn’t read her expression.
“You got family?” Ruth stopped, looking at her.
Cam looked up, puzzled by the question. “Am I in a family?” she asked.
Ruth looked at her. “No, I know Lou looks out for you, but you’re becoming more a part of my family. Tuck looks out for you, too, you know. Not that you need looking out for. You hold your own okay,” she continued, “I was talking about family outside; brothers, sisters, parents…”
