Now that the days were growing shorter and colder, the outdoor ball games weren’t as frequent and an aerobics instructor from the community YMCA came to the prison three times a week to lead the women in exercises and stretching to loud disco music. The hardcore jocks stayed in the weight room, while the music and loud encouraging shouts from the instructor boomed from the adjacent room. Several days had passed since Libby’s death, but Cam still hadn’t quieted any of the worries she’d had that night. In fact, she now found it easier to exercise with loud music coming from the adjacent room than to sit in the library or common room obsessing about her failure.
