The next day, Lyra realized that her time was running out. She had only two more months to find the artifact and take it back. There was only one problem. She didn't know where the heck the artifact could be and how she could find out. She got off the bed and opened up her window to ventilate her room with fresh air. While she was looking out the window, the forest caught her attention. "THE OLD LADY! obviously" said her. She dressed up very quickly, she put her equipment and took her sword, then ran out the door.
After 2 hours of roaming the forest she realized that she had forgotten how long the way to the old woman was. When she finally arrived, she knocked on the door but no one answered. She knocked again. Still nothing. She knocked a third time and after some seconds, finally someone opened the door. It was a trol. "What do you want?" said the trol. "I'm looking for an old woman who lives here?" answered Lyra. "Oh, i guess you're supposed to talk about Ms. Agatha. "I think so, I don't know her name but i guess she is.Do you know where she is?". "Look weird lady, Ms Agatha is busy, she doesn't have time for stupid problems like yours." "Come one, I really need her". Suddenly she heard a woman's voice. "Zorgoth, who are you talking to?". It was Ms. Agatha. " Oh hi dear, what a pleasure for my eyes to see you again. What are you doing here?". "I thought that the fact that you knew about the mysterious boy, you could know about another thing i m looking for". "Sure dear, tell me". "The artifact from the heart of the royal castle was stolen and the queen ordered me to retrieve it but i lost it and i don t know where to find it". "The artifact..the artifact? yes..yes..the artifact. Come inside". "Are you sure? I don't think I shou..". "Why are you still talking? As I know, you don't have a lot of time so don't waste it". Lyra went inside the old woman's house.
As she pushed the door open, she stepped into a dimly lit room with a fireplace on one side and a small table on the other. The walls were lined with tapestries, and a few paintings hung from the wooden beams. A simple bed was tucked away in one corner, and a chest sat at the foot of the bed. The air was heavy with the smell of herbs and spices, and Lyra could hear the faint sound of chanting coming from the back of the cottage. Overall, the cottage had a cozy, rustic feel, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and comfort wash over her. But she was still cautious. Ms Agatha went into a pantry and came back with a plate full of cookies and a map. "Want some?" said her holding out the plate. "No, I'm good, thank you". The old woman shrugged her shoulders and ate a biscuit, then opened the map, spreading it on the floor. "Here" said she, pointing to a place on the map. "Here is a royal mansion that holds the artifact. There is a ball tomorrow evening for which I can get you an invitation. But be careful, the people who have the mansion are very dangerous". Lyra thanked Ms. Aghata and took the invitation to the ball and the map and went back home.
When she arrived, she already felt tired, but she didn't let herself be like that because she still needed to fulfill her mission. The ball was taking place at 8 o'clock so she had some time to rest. She slept an hour, then she woke up to prepare herself for the ball.
Lyra stood in front of the full-length mirror, staring at her reflection. She had always been more comfortable in her mission equipment, but tonight she had to wear a dress. It was the only way to blend in at the ball and complete her mission. She took a deep breath and reached for the dress that was laid out on the bed. It was a beautiful gown, made of the finest silk and embroidered with delicate flowers. It was the kind of dress that any girl would dream of wearing, but Lyra couldn't help but feel like a fish out of water. As she slipped the dress over her head, she felt like she was wearing a costume. The fabric was soft and silky against her skin, but it felt strange to be so exposed. She had always felt more comfortable in her own style of clothing, but tonight she had to be someone else.Lyra turned this way and that, trying to get a better look at herself in the mirror. The dress was beautiful, but it didn't feel like her. She longed to be back in her comfortable clothes, with her hair tied back in a simple braid. But she knew that she had a job to do, and that meant putting on a brave face and pretending to be someone she wasn't. So she took a deep breath, straightened her shoulders, and stepped out of her room and into the unknown.
When she finally arrived, she was left speechless. The outside of the royal mansion was equally impressive. The mansion was surrounded by lush gardens, with winding paths that led to hidden alcoves and fountains. The gardens were filled with colorful flowers and fragrant herbs, and the air was thick with the scent of blooming roses. The mansion itself was made of white stone, with tall columns and arched windows. It was surrounded by a high wall, with a grand entrance that was guarded by soldiers in red and gold uniforms.Beyond the wall, there were sprawling lawns and ornamental lakes. The lawns were perfectly manicured, with hedges trimmed into intricate shapes and topiaries that looked like animals. The lakes were crystal clear, with fountains that shot water high into the air.As Lyra walked through the gardens, she couldn't help but feel like she was in a fairy tale. The mansion was like something out of a storybook, with its grandeur and opulence. But she knew that beneath the surface, there was something darker going on. She had to be cautious, and keep her wits about her.Lyra felt a little bit nervous but she took a deep breath and walked in. The windows were tall and wide, letting in streams of sunlight that illuminated the grand halls and corridors. As Lyra made her way through the mansion, she couldn't help but be awed by its sheer size and opulence. The floors were made of polished wood, and the walls were adorned with priceless works of art. Everywhere she looked, there were crystal chandeliers and gold-trimmed furniture. The ballroom was the most impressive room in the mansion. It was a massive space with a high ceiling and glittering chandeliers. The walls were lined with mirrors and the floors were made of polished marble. The room was filled with people, all dressed in their finest clothes and dancing to the music of the orchestra.
Lyra felt a pang of nervousness as she stepped into the ballroom. She had never been in such a grand setting before, and she couldn't help but feel like she didn't belong. But she reminded herself of her mission and took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come.
