Chapter Nine

1957 Words
"You're going," Summer said after she let me rant to her in my bedroom. "What?" I said in shock, "Scratch that, we're going." She said with a big smile on her face and I rolled my eyes, "I've been avoiding them since they brought it up, I don't want to go." I whined and she laughed "You need friends, Brooke." She said and got up to go through my closet. She started throwing clothes at me and I laughed "Stop." I said as I dodged random hoodies and jeans. She grabbed some shorts and a large shirt and chucked it at me, "Wear that." She said. I examined the outfit she chose for me and looked back at her, "What?" She asked and I shrugged "Thought you'd make me wear something a bit more revealing," I said and this time she laughed "You wouldn't be caught dead in anything provocative, Let's not forget that I'm your best friend. I know you." She said with a smile. I grabbed the large shirt and faded denim jeans then made my way to the bathroom to freshen up. After the quick shower, I changed into the outfit Summer picked out for me and walked out of the bathroom barefoot. I saw my brother poking his head in my room and I smirked, "Henry." I said from behind him, He jumped and turned to me. "Yes?" he asked and I smiled "Going somewhere?" He asked in confusion as he examined my outfit. The shirt I was wearing once belonged to him before I stole it and kept it for myself. It was a bleached stained thrasher shirt with a few holes around the neck and chest area. "Summer's forcing me to go to a party, So now I'm forcing you," I said with the same smile on my face, Henry rolled his eyes. "Okay," He said not putting a fight. He turned and went to his room to get dressed. I turned to Samantha who was staring at me in both shock and horror. I smirked at her "What, you said we. You didn't specify," I said as I grabbed my socks and doc martens from the corner of my room. "I'll be downstairs waiting on the both of you," I said with a smile as I walked out of my room. I skipped down the stairs and into the kitchen where I found my mom leaning on the kitchen counter munching on Oreos. "Hi mommy," I smiled and she looked up from her catalog and smiled at me, "Hey munchkin, How was school? I haven't been around as much to catch up," She said as she put her catalog down, I gave her a brief rundown of my boring but chaotic day and she laughed, "It's like the more you go to the place you call hell, the more interesting it gets," She commented and I shrugged "Now I'm being forced to go to a party to make new friends. Summer insisted," I groaned. My mom shrugged, "It wouldn't hurt, get a boyfriend while you're at it," She said and I rolled my eyes "How about we do one thing at a time," I laughed. She looked over at the stairs and saw Henry coming down with Summer. She looked over at me with a knowing look, "I forced him." I said to her and she laughed "Can't they just hurry up and kiss already?" Mom joked as she walked towards the wine rack, "Brooke's forcing me, mom." Henry said as he entered the kitchen and I laughed, "Shush," I said and Summer looked down at her feet. She was wearing a yellow crop top with black destroyed jeans. I loved her look, it wasn't out there and it looked normal for her. "Hi, Ms. Mczander." She said shyly and mom rolled her eyes "How many times so I have to tell you to call me Nina? How are you, sweetie?" Mom asked with a smile on her face, "I'm good." Sumer replied, I looked over at my mom who was holding back a teasing smirk and I knew what was coming next. Henry's face morphed into horror as my mom spoke, He knew what she was going to say, our mom was just that predictable, "You're still giving Mr adult here blue balls or what?" She said as she pointed at Henry. and I turned my head to hold in my laughter as Henry groaned with annoyance. He snatched his keys off of the counter and announced that he'd be waiting in the car while Summer stared at her in shock, Her cheeks beet red and I laughed. My mom's a character and is notorious for not having a filter, This wasn't her first time saying something like this to them both, and every time she said something they reacted this way. Summer was and still is very comfortable with my mother, She just enters shy mode whenever my brother is within a ten or less meter range from her. "Mom." I laughed and she chuckled before blowing Summer a kiss, "I love you both, be safe, and no drinking. I'm the law, I will find out." She said and I rolled my eyes, "Bye mom." I chuckled as I walked out of the house dragging Summer with me. "Blue balls." Summer mumbled and I giggled, "Seriously, Ignore my mom." I heard Henry say as we walked towards the car. I let Summer sit in the back this time so she could at least breathe and looked over at Henry. "You ready to go?" I said with a smile, "You have the address?" He asked. I gave him the address and we were on the road. The GPS said the estimated arrival time was nine minutes so we didn't spend that much time in the car. To my surprise, the car ride wasn't awkward after the comment mom made. The radio blasted Covet by Basement which happened to be my favorite song of all time. I looked back at Summer who was mouthing the words as I did a light headbang. I turned my attention to Henry and he was tapping to the beat of the song with a small smile on his face. I noticed that he was also slowing down at I glanced at the road to find a very big house at the end of it and lots of cars parked outside of it. The car came to a stop two houses away from the bigger house and Henry killed the engine, "Let's get this s**t show on the road. We meet back here at midnight, deal?" He said in his big brother I'm serious voice. I shrugged and checked my phone, It was only nine right now and I wouldn't really be doing much at this party anyway. "Are you guys drinking?" I asked. Summer nods and my brother shrugs, "Cool. I'm driving us back home," I stated. "Yeah because you don't drink," Henry said and I rolled my eyes "Shut up," I said and started to walk towards the huge house down the street. As I got closer to the house, it was evident that the party was already in full swing. Teenagers littered like trash on the lawn, Vomit puddles, and a few people were topless just hanging. It would suck to be the neighbor who has to deal with this every other week. The door of the house was open and it looked like people were squished up on one another. I looked back at the randomly scattered teens and cups before sighing and walking through the front door. I scrunched my nose and covered it as the smell of musk and alcohol was very potent. I felt like I was in a can of sardines or something, it was so packed. I tried my best to find a place I could hang without intruding on Jaden's personal life and being bothered by random s**t faced drunk teenagers. I walked to the kitchen and saw Jaden sitting in the counter like it was his throne, Just observing the party. His eyes landed on me and a huge smile spread across his face. "You're so predictable, Brooke." He said and tapped on the counter next to him. I chuckle and jumped up on the counter then sat down right next to him. He passed me a bottle of chilled water and turned his attention back to the party, "Thank you," I said as I took a sip of water. "Are you not going to join in on the fun?" I asked and he shrugged, "I'm just taking a break. It gets hot fast." He said and I chuckled "I bet," I said. Suddenly a very drunk Dylan stumbled into the kitchen with a sloppy grin on his face, "Jaden." He slurred as he stumbled towards him. His gaze shifted off of Jaden and on to me and excitement was all I could read from his drunken face. I chuckled "Brookey-Brooke," He said hugging me. "Alright, time for you to go upstairs, pal," Jaden said. Dylan heard this and started protesting, "I'm not drunk." He slurred and I laughed as Jaden held up four fingers in Dylan's face, "How many fingers am I holding up?" He asked. Dylan leaned forward and squinted before leaning back nearly falling over but he somehow caught himself. "Don't be stupid, It's either six or you're cheating," Dylan answered and I hopped off the counter. "I'll take him upstairs," I told Jaden. He nodded and gave me both directions and instructions to Dylan's room and what to do when I reached his room. I placed Dylan's hand on my shoulder to hold his weight and slowly made my way out of the kitchen and up the stairs. "You know, I wish I had a sister like you," Dylan mumbled then clicked his tongue. "I'm not the best, believe me." I told him and he shushed me as we reached his room, "You are the best. Never forget that." He slurred and I chuckled placing him on his bed. I removed his shirt as per Jaden's instructions and threw them in the hamper. "If you say so," I told him. "No, repeat after me." He said looking at me. "What?" I asked and he laid back on the bed then shut his eyes, "I ... am the f*****g best." He slurred and I rolled my eyes, "You are the f*****g best." I said to him and he groaned. He placed his hand on his head and rolled on his side. I went to the bathroom and saw the black bucket Jaden spoke about and filled it with warm water then placed it beside Dylan's bed. Jaden called it Dylan's puke bucket. "Say you're the best, Brookey-Brooke." He whined and I sighed "I am the best." I said and he gave me a loopy smile. "Thank you. For taking care of me," He said and I went into his medicine cabinet to grab a few painkillers then placed them on his nightstand. I looked over at him and saw him dozing off. I pulled the covers over him and placed the bucket closer to his bed before turning around and opening the door to leave.  I looked back at Dylan to make sure he was fine before focusing my attention on the hallway outside the room. Parallel to the door was Christian leaning on the wall lost in his phone. I closed the door quietly and started to make my way towards the stairs before he stopped me.  "I'm sorry, Brooklyn." He said.  I turned to him with a confused looked on my face.  What the hell is he on about?
