Chapter Eleven

The weekend flew quickly and it was Monday again. Normally I'd be dreading returning to school after the weekend break but this time I was actually excited to go back to school. "Henry, hurry up please!" I shouted up the stairs, I heard him mumbled a string of profanities before he walked down the stairs. He was shirtless and his hair was tousled, needless to say, the dude looked a hot mess. He tossed his car keys at me then turned on his heels and walked up the stairs. I glanced at his retreating back and shrugged. I guess he was still sour about what happened at the party. I grabbed an apple and read the note mom left on the fridge, 'I'll be back before ten tonight, If I'm home before seven I'll be making dinner, if not then order pizza." -Mum I bit into my apple and walked out the door, locking it on my way out. Today was going to be a good day for me. I have a new friend, someone to talk to aside from Summer. I hopped into the car and when I turned it on the song from Friday immediately blasted through the stereo making me jump in shock. I turned the volume down and drove to the school.  It was only a three-minute drive so the song didn't even get to finish as I pulled into the parking lot. I stepped out of the car and spotted Mercedes leaning on her purple and black motorcycle. She seemed relaxed as she did whatever she was doing on her phone. She didn't seem to care that people were practically staring her down from all corners of the school. She looked up when I got closer and smiled, "Brooke," She said before swinging her leg over the seat of her bike, "Nice," I said complimenting her wheels and she chuckled, "I bought this to give my old man a heart attack," She joked before hooking my arms with hers. "Have you heard from your friend?" She asked. She was talking about Summer and the answer was no, Ever since the party I haven't heard anything from her and my own brother seemed to be very irritated by what happened that fateful night.  "No, I haven't." I told her and Mercedes shrugged, "Sheesh," She only said as we walked through the doors of the school. It seemed like everyone's attention switched from whatever had their attention before to us. Mercedes ignored it while I couldn't escape the questioning looks I was receiving from my fellow classmates.  We ended up stopping at the front office so Mercedes could get her schedule and I stood to the side with my fingers crossed, hoping she'd have the same lunch period as me. She glanced at her schedule before flashing me a smile, "We have the same lunch." She announced. I matched her smile and walked her to her very first class. As she walked into the class I could hear her already make her presents known with her dry sarcasm. I chuckled and turned on my heels then made a beeline towards the dance room. I stared at myself in the mirror for a bit then sat down on the floor to stretch. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and connected my phone to the Bluetooth speakers and let whatever song my phone decided to play ... play.  After a while of dancing, I sat down on the floor again and stared at my reflection in the mirror. The dance room door opened and closed. I looked at the reflection of the door and saw Jaden walking towards me. "Hey you," I smiled and he sat down next to me. "How's it going?" He asked and I shrugged "It could be better, honestly." I said with a small smile.  He smiled sheepishly, "I would like to apologize about what happened Friday night, That doesn't usually happen." He said and I shrugged, "I guess I had it coming." I said brushing the incident off. It wasn't really something I wanted to talk about. I kind of regret it to be honest. "Nobody deserves that though," He said and I rolled my eyes. "Jaden, I swear I'm fine," I said with a smile. He stared at me for a while before sighing and dropping the topic altogether. "I would ask if you want to ditch but you seem to be cozying up with my demon sister," he said with a slight chuckle. "She's nice," I said defending Mercedes. He rolled his eyes "To you because she likes you," He said "You want to know about her? Through my eyes?" He asked. "I'll bite," I said and he told me how she's driven by emotions and can be very dangerous when crossed. Apparently she had Sophia hospitalized and Sophia's parents sued for damages but she said it was self-defense and their lawyer, my mother, helped prove that it was indeed self-defense.  Aside from that, he said that she is very aggressive when it comes to something or someone she loves and will do any and everything to get her point across, nothing's off the table. He jokingly said that they were supposed to have another sibling but she ate the third one in the womb and he knew to tread carefully ever since. Of course, I laughed at that and I think that's what he wanted from me, a genuine belly laugh. Time went by rapidly and I spent the first two hours sitting on the floor with Jaden joking around. It was nice, aside from Mercedes, nobody has made an attempt to check on me. I mean I understand that a few people were affected by it but I think how it went down, I got the worse of it. The door opened again and this time it was Christian. He walked towards the both of us with a blank look on his face. Jaden checked the time and started to get up. He offered me a hand but I refused and decided to stay on the ground. He accepted my decision and bid both of us goodbye before walking out of the dance room. Now the room was filled with an awkward but deafening silence. Christian sat down and fiddled with his phone for a while before sighing loudly, "What happened Friday shouldn't have happened." He said and my head snapped in his direction. "Why do you guys keep bringing it up. I don't care." I said with an eye roll. "I do though, I know it hurt you. I wasn't a willing participant. I was just as shocked as you were." He said and I groan, "Jesus Christ, do you have an off switch?" I asked my voice tainted with annoyance. I didn't want to remember that night. "Sophia's a good person, Brooke." He said and I scoffed, "Your definition of good is very flawed." I said and he shook his head, "I'm serious." He said and I looked up at the ceiling before look at him. My face and tone void of any emotions as I addressed him,  "You have some nerve you know? You guys attempt to make me look stupid because I didn't fall for your stupid bet and because I was smart enough to say no to someone like you ... your psycho girlfriend decides to get back at me by ruining all the f*****g work I put into getting my brother and best friend finally get together by starting some bogus rumor.  And to add insult to injury her dumb ass rumor of me sleeping with Dylan spread like wildfire and no matter how many times I've denied it no one believes me. And then threatens to do much worse all because I said no. And now you're here to apologize for your angelic girlfriend?" I said and he clamped his mouth shut. "Exactly, save your breath for something more important," I said getting up and cleaning the dance room. I could feel his gaze on me but I ignore it as I packed my things and put them in my bag. I turned back and saw him standing there, his eyes filled with what looked like regret. I turned on my heels and made my way towards our designated classroom.  I made a quick stop at my locker and a noticed a paper sticking out of it. I grabbed the paper and read. You started this, I told you to stay away from my boyfriend -Sophia M. I rolled my eyes, you have got to be shitting me.
