TAMING THE ALPHA

Chapter 1: Melissa's Pov "Father, please give me one last chance and I will prove to you my worth." I pleaded with father for the nth time but he wasn't listening to me. He thinks I am a disgrace to the pack, a princess without a sense of humor. I have gone out for this mission three times now and I still haven't gotten the gem of life with me. I have acted like a spy, acted like a maid and all ended up in vain. I wish I could do some thing real quick about this. Even my mother couldn't say a word, father's words were final and no one can change that. Not even the man after his heart can. I won't blame him for saying no to me, I caused it. I wasn't being faithful to the pack, because if I was really faithful as I once claimed to be, I could have had the gem with me a long time ago. I'm just a disgrace, I can't even look into the eyes of my father. "Please, father, just this last time and I will do better. I promise." "You said that last time and I granted your request, this time you are saying the same words to me? What Should I do?!" He barked. "You know how much that gem means to us, to our pack, but you didn't care! You never bothered to work hard for it!" "I wasn't being serious the other times, but I promise to be this time. I swear." I swore. "I don't need you to swear to me to prove how worthless you are to this mission." He spat. "There is nothing else you can do about this." "Father…" He cuts in sharply. "Yes. We are coming up with a different plan. But just know, you aren't resting until this gem is under our possession." He angrily points at me. My knees were hurting me. I have been kneeling down for almost an hour now, trying to plead to my father and make him understand that I hadn't deliberately lost this mission, but he wasn't getting my point. There are lots of securities in the Winter Wolf pack. Before you think of sneaking in, you've been caught a thousand times. And the worst of it is the fact that the gem is in a secret room inside the Alpha's room. The only way to get in is to get through his room first. No one enters except his bodyguard. I have tried my best to get closer to his bodyguard but he wasn't giving me a face. I was beginning to wonder if he was the Alpha or just the bodyguard he is. He had this straight face, meant for his job. Alpha Rex was a thousand times better than he is. I couldn't do more than my capabilities, I had to pull back and find another means to get the gem even though I knew there was no other way. Mother whispered some thing to father, but before I could figure out what it was, they were done talking. Father nodded his head at what she said, looking at me. Why was he giving me that look? I hate it when he looks at me like that, he isn't planning on punishing me for this, is he? There's some thing you don't know about my father, he isn't an alpha with a soft heart when it comes to things that concerns his pack and family. He meant every thing he says, and whatever he says is final. Having lived with him for twenty years, I still find it difficult to get used to his cold attitude. He'd punish me each time I failed to do the right thing, he never pampers me like any other alpha would do to their daughter. I was the only child, he'd always say he was building me up for my future. At first, I always complained. Some times, I'd lock myself in my room, shedding uncontrollable tears that he was being wicked to me. But now I realize it wasn't wickedness but training. He had taught me to be the woman I am today. "You see, your mother and I have come up with a solution to get this gem. It's our choice and not yours, so you have no right to refuse it or you know what follows after. Trust me, you don't want to see that part of the after." He looks at mother, "Tell her what you told me." He gave her a go ahead. My busy brain was restlessly trying to comprehend what it is mother was about to say. She didn't agree for father to confine me in my room or have me pray to the moon goddess for the entire night. "Well, since you couldn't make it up to the mission at hand, and since I wouldn't love it when your father punishes you like a slave, I decided that you should go to the Winter Wolf pack. But this time, you won't be acting like a spy or a maid, you'll be getting married to Alpha Rex." My heart flew for a second, I could feel it pounding against my throat, close to escaping my lungs. I couldn't believe my ears, did mother just say that? She wants me to get married to Alpha Rex, after I must have served him for two months? He's probably gonna suspect we're on a mission. I shook my head continuously. "No. No, mother you can't say this. Please, don't do this to me." I pleaded. "I can do any thing else but not this. You can't expect me to walk into a home at such an age. I am still a kid, I don't know any thing about family life." "Alpha Albert's daughter got married at the age of eighteen, now she's a mother of one. Did she think about this? Isn't she living a happy ever after life with her husband?" "She's different. She wanted the life, but I don't…" "You have no choice, Melissa. Besides, it's only for a short while. You will live with him, gain his trust, push your way to have him love you. When you finally gain his trust, you steal the gem of life and return home. No feelings attached." She said the words like they meant nothing. "It still doesn't make any sense. What if he finds out? You know I just worked as his maid." "Well, things change. People change for the betterment of their future and life. Will you keep refusing the offer, or do you prefer to face your father's punishment?" She questioned. I looked at my father who has been quiet since the conversation, his face still wore the look which sent fear in me. I don't want to be punished, I don't want to be tortured any more. I have no choice. "We can find another way to do this. There's got to be another way to get the gem. Father please, say some thing. I don't wanna get married to Alpha Rex, I don't wanna be his Luna." I begged, my eyes soaked with tears. He stood up, along with mother. "You heard your mother, Melissa. It's either you get married to Alpha Rex and prove to the pack that you aren't worthless, or you serve the consequences for your actions. It's your choice." I watched them leave the royal hall through a corner which led to their room. I don't wanna do this. Why aren't they listening to me? I am ready to go on another mission as long as it doesn't have to do with me getting married to Alpha Rex. I don't love him a bit, how do they expect me to pretend this long just to get the gem of life? I let the uncontrollable tears roll down my cheeks, staining the ground I knelt on. Is this fate?
