Chapter 3:
Melissa's Pov
"Your highness, Alpha Rex has arrived at the palace." My maid announced.
I was scared to welcome him. Not after what I had seen in my dream, I couldn't imagine myself living with such a monster like him. He had created the fear in me, I don't care if that's the kind of person he is or not, as long as it's him in my dream, I don't think I can ever fall in love with some one like him.
"We need to get you ready for dinner tonight." She said.
"I don't think I can meet with His majesty tonight, I will see him tomorrow morning, unfailingly."
"But Your Highness," she protested. "Your mother has sent me here to inform you. She wouldn't be happy if I told her you refused to show up."
I looked at my maid disgustedly. Who is she to question my decision? What does she know about the royalty lifestyle that she will talk to me in such a manner? I didn't want to exchange words with her, I wasn't in the mood for such. I'll let her go away with it this time, but not next time.
"Just leave me alone." I said to her, taking my gaze to the window. "Tell my mother I want to be alone for now." She exited the room. I didn't feel remorseful for my attitude, she has to learn how to mind her business and just follow orders the way they are.
The door opened, I frowned. "I said I want to be alone!" I yelled only to see my mother standing by the door. "She passed my message to you, didn't she?"
"She did, that's why I decided to come myself." She sounded less concerned. "You aren't locking yourself here while Alpha Rex is in the house. You've got a visitor, isn't that worth showing up?"
"Mother, I already made up my mind to meet him tomorrow morning. Why do I have to be told what and what not to do?" I questioned. "I'm old enough to make my decision any time I want, okay?! I don't wanna meet with Alpha Rex, isn't that clear to you?!"
"Melissa, how dare you talk to me like that?" She yanked back. "Do you recognize who you are talking to?"
"Of course, I do realize that, mother! I have my right. I can't follow every thing you and dad keep telling me to do."
"Because as long as you live under my roof, you have to follow every thing I say. Now, get your ass up and do justice to yourself. We're leaving this room in the next five minutes." She stormed.
I had no choice but to find some thing to wear. She assisted me as I dressed up, and helped me apply a slight makeup. She packed my hair in a less stylish way, but it actually gave me a good look.
"I'm pretty sure Alpha Rex won't take his eyes off you." She praised me. Not really interested though. "Let's get going, shall we?"
She made sure I left the room before she did, shutting the door behind me. She made sure I didn't attempt to run as her eyes watched me closely. "Smile, sweetheart, you aren't fighting with any one."
"Forcing me into a marriage I didn't approve of isn't funny, mom. So don't expect me to smile like every thing is alright. Nothing is." I said as a matter of fact.
We got to the sitting room where my father and Alpha Rex sat discussing what I felt wasn't reasonable. Mother coughed, drawing their attention. Father saw me and smiled, like he was actually staring at me at the altar. I looked away from his gaze, moving it to Alpha Rex who was staring fixedly at me.
"Greetings to your majesty," I greeted, bowing my head at him. "Welcome to my pack."
He smiled at me. I scoffed silently. Who's he smiling at?
We went to sit on the long chair. I felt Alpha Rex's eyes on me, like he was studying me or some thing. I prayed he doesn't recognize me or I'll be dead, this mission will be all in vain.
Despite being talked to, he won't take his gaze off me. It's like he finds staring at me quite interesting. "Dinner will be ready soon, please forgive the delay." Father apologized.
"It's okay, I'm not complaining." He smiled at me.
I furrowed my brows, shaking my head as I looked away from his gaze. He shouldn't find this union a worthy one, if only he knew my parents' agenda for getting us united, he wouldn't have accepted the proposal.
We started the dinner, and I'd say, it was a quiet one. I couldn't concentrate as Alpha Rex wouldn't stop from looking at me. "So, what's your name?" He asked me.
I looked at him. "My name?" I asked.
"Yes, dear. He's asking for your name." Mother explained.
"Oh. My name is Melissa Possey."
"Melissa," he nods his head. "That's a nice name." He complimented.
"Thank you."
"How old are you, Melissa?" He asked.
I looked at my parents, I don't understand where this conversation is heading to. "I'm twenty years old." I replied.
He nodded his head again. "I see. How do you prepare for tomorrow." This time he was smiling at me.
"I… I… don't… understand." I stuttered.
"I believe you know what tomorrow is for the both of us, how ready are you for it?" He repeated.
"I… Well, I guess I am ready. Sought of, I'd say."
He smiled. Can this dude stop this already? It's looking more like a habit to him.
"Alpha Rex, don't mind my daughter, she's only nervous about it. Since this is her first time walking into a new home, she's still trying to understand her new life. Please, bear with her, though it's gonna take a while for her to get used to it."
I threw mom a hard glare, who asked her for her opinion? Why would mom keep breaking my heart all the time?
She looked at me, winking at me.
"I don't have a problem with that." He said. "I love girls who are quite stubborn, they're my favorite."
Don't worry, it's only for a matter of time. As soon as I walked into his home, I'm gonna make his life a hell of misery. He's gonna cry, and he'll beg me to leave his home. He will believe every thing is working perfectly fine, but when he realizes why I got married to him, it's gonna be late.
He just doesn't know yet, he's dealing with the wrong girl.
