Chapter 3

1100 Words
After school, Jackson and I went straight to work. I was still amazed by the fact that I had cousins. I was wondering if there was anyway that I could have them come live with me. I had an extra room they could stay in. Plus I had enough food. I really wanted them to live with me but then I thought about it. What if they don't want to live with me/ What if they want to live on their own or even with a foster family? They obviously have already been through their first transformation. Their birthday is on December 20th.           "Katelyn dear, can you go check on the milk and see if we need to get rid of any of them? I'll put Jackson on register for right now. You seem a bit distracted."           "Okay. Sorry Mr. Roberts." He sighed.           "Just know that you can come talk to me, the Wong's, or even your psychiatrist when your ready to discuss what is bothering you. Or even Jackson since you two are dating." I just nodded at him and continued to go check the milk. I was almost done when I heard two voices that I recognized. It was Tracy and Penelope. I quickly hid behind some shelves. I saw Jackson duck out to the back room. We stayed hidden until they left. After Jackson started working here, I told him that it was against school rules to have an after school job until you were a junior. And even then, if your grades started to slip, you would have to quit. Then when you are a senior, that's when you can have an after school job without having to worry about your grades. After they left, I came back to the counter.           "What the hell were those two drama queens doing here? They never come to the convenience store."           "I don't know. But if they find out we work here, they could have leverage over us at school. If we don't do what they say, they could run and tell the principal." And that would also mean the end of my special privileges. I so didn't want that. But we couldn't work the day shift due to us being in school. We got away with it over the summer because we can have summer jobs in high school. This was definitely spelling out trouble.           After work, we did our normal thing. In the middle of our two doors, we kiss goodbye and then go to our respective apartments. The only reason the school hadn't put an end to us living next door to each other like this is because of one thing. I am a virgin. And as long as I stay that way until we graduate high school, we can stay living as neighbors. We have gotten close to having s*x but I always managed to stop us before we go too far. It was definitely a primal instinct but we didn't want to have to move away from each other.           I was sitting in my room typing up my final research paper when I heard a howl come from somewhere outside my window. I was going to ignore it until I heard an answering call come from Jackson's apartment. He must of transformed in his apartment. That means that Kendra and Kiara outside the apartment building. I saved my paper onto my flash drive and ran out of my apartment. I ran into Jackson literally when I ran out of my apartment. He shushed me and we crept out of the hallway and down the stairs. It was after midnight so we weren't suppose to be alone together.           When we finally got outside, we quickly ran around back to transform. "What's going on Jackson? Was that the twins?"           "Yes. I guess they have something they want to tell us that can't wait until school tomorrow." I wonder what they could possibly need. We ran until we finally found them a few miles away from the back of our building.           "Glad you can make it you two. Kiara and I wanted to speak to you both."          "What do you two want to talk about? But please be quick about it. I have a psychiatrist appoint today."           "We wanted to know how you two get by like this. You both have licences, cars, your own apartments. We want something like this too."           "Yeah. Kendra and I have always wanted a place of our own to just be us. To be able to be ourselves. Right now we live with our case manager. But she is obviously getting tired of us." Kiara's ears drooped a little. I felt bad.           "Well, Jackson had my dad to speak up for him and I had Jackson to speak up for me when my mom got arrested and my grandma died. But, if I can prove to your case manager and to the courts that I'm a fit guardian, maybe they will let you two live with me." I hoped they liked the idea of living with me.           "You would have to have a stable income and living space that is clean and not infested by vermin. You would have to be able to provide for all of our needs."           "I can do all of that!" I took a step forward. "As long as you two don't mind sharing a room together. My mom had the master bedroom. It's big enough for two! I can get either a bunk bed or two day beds for you two to sleep in and then you two can help me figure out how to design the rest of the room! As well as pick out furniture and bedding." Their ears perked up at my offer. Their tails started wagging as well.           "Really? If you could prove all that plus have a DNA test done to prove we're related, they would have to let us live with you!" By then, my tail was wagging too.           "Just one down side." I looked at Jackson. "You would have to tell the school about your job. And I would have to do the same."
