Back home — Resting my back against the wall I sighed, talking to her took a lot out of me, after a few seconds of reminiscing I got myself off the wall time to say bye to grandfather. Peeping through the tiny space of the door, I popped my head into the room a wide smile on my face. Entering the room I closed the door behind me, “I’ll be leaving now.” Looking up from the paper at hand my grandfather looked surprised, probably did not expect me to stay so long. Setting the paper aside he looked at me with a smile, “That took longer than expected, you must have been flirting.” Giggling I sat myself down in front of him. “Grandfather you didn’t tell me she is that hard to approach, I almost got killed.” I knew she would have struggled me, if she was given the opportunity. “I thought you could handle her and she would go easy on you, taking it as you are her preferred gender. She certainly is ask your uncle, his been rejected countless times but he says he’ll get her. I laugh every time.” I gasped, “He actually thinks she would go for him?” I asked my grandfather shock all over my face. He shook his head and we both broke off into laughing. Our laughter died down, my grandfather’s face soon held a slight frown. “Anyway I shouldn’t keep you here long, your mother must be dying to see you. Get going, I’ll see you at home.” “Yeah I should go see her, don’t count on it old man. That house is possessed by demons, I’m not spending the night they’ll kill me in my sleep.” I stood from my seat with a frown on my face, those people never wanted me. “Just one night for the three of you.” he pleaded with a bright smile, giving in easily I nodded my head in approval. The frown quickly was replaced with a smile, that being the last image I saw before walking out. The big melt gates stood in front of me closed with a heavy inhale, one night nothing more. I drove passed the gates once they opened, driving up the road the house slowly started coming into view. Parking my car right in front of the mansion I got out, here goes nothing. The moment I walked into the house I began shouting on top of me voice. “Mom! Mother! I’m home.” she was the only person I wanted to see right beside Mary. Searching the house from the kitchen, her most priced place in the house, a frown came on my face when I found no one in sight. Moving from there I went to the backyard, she had to be in her green house. Walking into the greenhouse my mother was attending to the flowers, sneaking up on her I spoke. “There you are, I’ve been looking for you every where.” I spoke. Mother got off the ground dusting herself once her eyes landed on me a bright smile came across her face. “My beautiful daughter you’re back, I would hug you but I’m covered in dirty.” Spreading my arms out I walked up to my mum embracing her in a hug. “I know you’ll hug me regardless mom, plus I missed you.” who cared about clean clothes I missed my mother so much. Some cleared there throat behind us, “Calm down, you’ll end up squeezing her too tight she’ll burst.” the voice was too familiar, turning my mother still hooked on me I saw mary. I gestured for her to join in the hug and she did, embracing all of them in a hug I squeezed a bit harder. Mary groaned, “I missed you Jo, why the f**k did it take you two months to come back, and why have you lost weight.” she rumbled punch my shoulder once our hug broke off. I smiled, “I missed you two so much.” walking back to the house my arms on both the two women’s shoulders, we made our way back to the house. Seated on the couch I rested my head on my mother’s laps while my feet were on Mary’s lap, did I annoy them yes but I enjoyed it. In that position, we talked and caught up in all things. Once the clock struck seven we made our way to the dinning room, each one of us taking our respected seats. I had mine between Mary and my annoying cousin, Marcus. Hearing stories from Mary through dinner I had a contented smile on my face. Aunt Vivien clinked her fork against her glass plate gaining all our attention. Her eyes were fixed me, I knew where this was going. “So how was your little trip, found any partners?” Sighing I dropped my fork in the plate I held up a smile, “It was great, being away from all the stress was helpful.” my eyes trailed off to the three beings. Grabbing my fork again I began eating, my moment of short peace was disrupted. “And a partner?” Marcus asked. Choosing to ignore him I continued with my meal. Andrew giggled mocking me, “Can’t you see, she doesn’t have one.” the other two joined him, laughing at me mocking me. It had always been that way since I can remember, clearly growing up under this roof was hell thanks to them. All that faded a bit when Marcus cousin, Mary started living with us. At first I thought she would side with her cousin and not me but through the years, we grew stronger together. Mary pressing her lips together clearly irritated she scolded. “Could we just eat in peace for once. Josie is back just be happy.” Andrew looked at her not amused, “Defending her as always I see, I forgot she’s a baby and need protection.” Glaring at the dog I call uncle I hissed. “I’m not and Mary is not defending anything just being realistic.” this whole drama was the reason I hated it here, in the first place. Marcus patting his uncle on the shoulder leaned close to his ear whispering, “She’s probably just wants to hit, maybe Mary’s a freak too.” he did not know how to whisper. Never have a heterosexist family, you are always the topic at the dinner table. My mother, grandfather and Mary were accepting while the other three, called me names since I was fifteen. “Just like old times great! Well it seems I’ve lost my appetite.” I got off my seat walking towards the rooms. I laid on my back enjoying the silence untill my mother walked in, taking a seat beside me. “Dear, don’t mind them, they are useless.” I agreed on that last part with a nod. Resting my whole entire body on my elbows I looked up to her with a faint smile. “I don’t mind them. I came here to rest, I don’t want argue with them.” Pulling me by arm she embraced me in a second hug of the day, I missed all her hugs even though I didn’t want to come back. “I don’t want what happened to happen again Josie, you’ve come a long way. I want you to be safe and happy.” I gave her a nod remembering the selfish thing I pulled five years ago, it was a mistake that haunted me every day. Still embracing me in a hug for a while mother finally let go, then left the room. Laying back on my back side I began thinking of the other good thing that happened today. Abigail was engraved in my mind all day, and so was she right as of now.
