Getting a bit of a crush — Walking out the building doors I bid the security guard, Richard a goodbye and good night. He was a friend here we rarely spoke but when we did, he always knew how to make people laugh. It was completely dark out as I drove through the streets, my work hours always shifted from 7 in the morning till five but with all the work I had, I left the office something past 7 or to 8. I took my usual route up the apartment building to our apartment floor. Turning the keys I opened the door, my roommate was in front of the screen watching something. When she noticed me in the room she smiled, clearly noticing my worn out state. “Learnt your lesson?” she teased. Dropping my body on the couch I groaned, “I’m so tired, I swear it was more of a punishment.” Riley patted me on my shoulder sympathetically. “You deserved it for missing work over a girl.” I wished something else came out that mouth, rolling my eyes at her I freed my feet from the shoes I wore. Making myself comfortable on the couch I began to notice Riley was a bit too dressed for just going to bed. The only thing was she was still here, “Why are you still here, shouldn’t be out like partying.” Riley snapped her neck at me, “You want me gone?” the girl asked looking at me suspicious. I shook my head disapproving her accusation, “Of course not, I’m just surprised but if you want to. Finish up cooking first.” She giggled, “You love me for my food.” That was the absolute true could never deny it, ever. Giving her a big bright smile spoke, “Anyday baby you know that. I’m going to change first, I’ve got two stories for you.” I got off the couch heading to my room. Changing out of the clothes I had on earlier, I threw on an overly sized shirt and shorts. Riley was no wear near sight when I went back to the living room, my feet diverted me to the kitchen. There she stood in front of the shove preparing me food, best roommate and best friend ever. Resting my elbows on the counter I took in the sweet aroma, “Can’t wait to eat that delicious food.” Riley looked at me over shoulder, raising both eyebrows at me. “Didn’t have lunch, did you?” she frowned. I sighed resting my head on my palm, “I was busy with work, I didn’t do it on purpose.” I explained myself my eyes not once leaving her. Riley walked over to me taking a seat right across from me, she looked me in the eyes. “You have not been eating right the pass four day Abigail, at least you could have gotten a sandwich or something.” I knew that was the truth, it would have only taken me seconds. I looked at me fingers feeling really bad right now, it was clear as day Riley was not pleased with me one bit. She got off the seat going back to her cooking while she did we exchanged a few words, barely a conversation. The meal was fully done after some minutes, sitting with Riley we are and talked. Telling her of the encounter with my boss, we laughed a lot, well she laughed at me. After we finished eating I was forced to doing the dishes. Once I sat on the couch right next to Riley she kept stealing side glances. I huffed looking to the ceiling, “Peter offered me a new job, on top of my usual one. But before you say anything, there is a huge problem.” I turned to her with a frown, she was too attentive to this. “First, it is a work load of responsibility and commitment that I do not have for sure and she was flirting with me, in broad daylight without shame.” I explained. Riley’s face displayed confusion, “Who is she, Abigail?” she narrowed her eyes at me. She literally thought I could do fast, no way. “Peter wants me to help his granddaughter with writing and stuff like that, girl was flirting with me.” Riley immediately began laughing at the face I made. “She tried to kiss Riley in my office, she called me girlfriend and can I just say she has a dirty dirty little mind.” I snorted, that girl was over the top. Riley stopped laughing wiggling her eyebrows, “But you loved it, I know you did. You like her.” I shoved her lightly we had no room for false statements, “I don’t like her, no way in—” Riley rudely interrupted with a stern voice, “I was not asking, I was telling you. That’s going to be your next girlfriend, so stop denying it.” “How does Jess putt up with you.” I spat. Riley self patted herself on her back giving a bright smile. “Because she knows I’m right, anyway tell me more about this girl.” Shrugging on the couch I pouted, “What if I don’t want to tell you about her.” poking my nose Riley smiled, “Then I’ll just conclude you like her, simple.” she cupped my face squashing it, she blew a kiss. Escaping her grip I hissed, I guess I had no option. “Either way you’ll still assume I do.” she shook her head in approval. “Her name is Josie, has curly hair brown eyes and is very much annoying.” I spoke. “Okay, what would you say about her personal—” “Annoying, too confident, a true child in nature. She is just... Uncontrollable, she gets under my skin and I just met her.” I rumbled, that girl had truly made an impression alright. “I think she likes you that’s why and you might too, just get to know her, give her a chance. She’ll be good for you, true me.” crossing her arms in front of her chest. While giggling I shook my head, “No, definitely not listening to you, you have not met her.” “But I’m—” “I said no, end of discussion. On the other hand where are you going tonight.” I diverted the conversation to something else, even though she had not let it go Riley spoke. “To some club, a friend got me a gig.” She was excited when she got gigs and I was happy for her. “Cool, guessing you’re staying over at Jess’ tonight.” I asked. She gave me a full on nod with a smirk, “Might depend but don’t wait up.” I watched the movie with her for a while untill her friends came, placing a huge wet kiss on my cheek Riley was gone. Alone in an apartment on a Friday night, curled up in a ball on the couch is how I spent almost all my Fridays. Nothing was more fulfilling that having alone time with a great movie. A few minutes into the movie my eyes began getting a bit heavy, then a yawn escaped my mouth. A bit too comfortable on the couch my eyes slowly began closing, darkness soon followed.
