CHAPTER 5: FINDING OUT ABOUT DAD

Thalia POV

“The Lunar wolf has many powers such as teleportation, telepathy, elemental control meaning she can control the elements of the earth such as air, water, earth and fire, she also has super speed, healing and last but not least necromancy.” I read the book that Sophie has given me because I want to find out more about the Lunar Wolf. “Necromancy. That means that I might be able to bring people back from the dead!” I say “Please note that Necromancy is not to be played around with. It is extremely dangerous!” I read the little note at the bottom of the page. “In order to bring someone back from the dead, you will unknowingly kill an innocent person who is alive instead!” I continue reading the note. "The Lunar wolf is also the leader of a group of women called the Tribrids. Each of them has their own weapon that they alone will be able to wield. The weapons call out to them, seeking them out when the time is right. No one knows what these weapons will be until they are ready to be used. The weapon chooses the warrior." I wonder what my weapon will be.

I am sitting in my car in front of the restaurant. I am supposed to start working at five. It is now four-thirty. I decide to get out and talk to mom about dad. Sophie and Becky will be here soon. They went somewhere, they say it’s a surprise for my birthday that they are planning. I put the book back in its bag and leave it in the glove compartment as I grab my things and get out of my car. I walk straight to my mom’s office when I hear some giggling coming from inside my mom’s office. “Mom is that you?” I ask as I knock on the door. I try to open the door but it’s locked. That’s weird. Mom never locks her office door when she is in there. “Yes, honey I’m here! Just give me a minute!” She screams through the door then I hear some mumbling and something falling on the floor. “Mom why is the door locked?” I ask as mom opens the door. I walk inside and I see a blonde-haired man standing there. He looks familiar. I think I’ve seen him in some of our pictures at home. “Who are you?” I ask as I point my finger at him

“My name is Jake Sentino but you can just call me Jake!” He says as he extends his hand to greet me. “My name is Thalia. How do you know my mom?” I ask as I shake his hand. “Oh, your mom and I go way back!” He says as he looks at mom. “Thalia, honey there is something I have to tell you! Remember earlier at the house when I told you that your father was my mate?” Mom asks me. “Yes,” I say as I nod my head. “Well, Jake is my second chance mate.” Mom says as she looks at me worried. “Oh! Oh okay! That’s cool! Unexpected but cool!” I say as I give my mom a hug. “Mom you deserve to be happy! I’m very happy for you both!” I tell mom. “Really honey? Because I was worried you would freak out and get mad at me?” Mom says as she lets go of me. “No mom I’m very happy for you! I’m glad the Moon Goddess gave you a second chance mate! I’ve read up all about mates in the books Sophia gave me.” I say as I grab mom’s hands “I love you mom and I want what is best for you!” I say as I turn back to Jake. “I know you. I’ve seen you in pictures with my dad and uncle Ale.” I tell him. He nods his head saying that he grew up with mom and uncle Ale. He became friends with my dad when my parents found out they were mates. Dad and Jake formed an alliance as well. I like Jake already.

“Mom I was hoping that you could tell me more about dad, but maybe it can wait until later.” I say as I get up to leave. “No honey it's okay. I will tell you anything you need to know.” Mom says. “I have a few calls to make so I’ll leave you two alone.” Jake says as he walks out. “Okay.” Mom and I say in unison. “So what would you like to know sweetheart?” Mom asks as she comes to sit next to me on the couch. “What was dad like?” I ask as I look her in the eyes. “Your father was a wonderful man. I met him when I was 16 and he was 18 at a ball the former werewolf King Xavier Burns was holding, we became friends instantly. He would always come and visit me at Blue Stone pack. Your father is the one that trained me to fight. He taught me everything I know and I trained you the same as he had trained me. I didn’t know it at the time but I knew I wanted him to be my mate. We found out we were mates when I turned 18. Your father came to surprise me on my birthday and the next day I moved to his pack, the Crescent Moon pack in Port Elizabeth, to become his Luna.” Mom says as tears start rolling down her cheeks. “Wait. Luna? Dad was an Alpha?” I ask as I take a tissue out of the tissue box to give it to mom. “Yes, honey. Your dad was the Alpha of Crescent Moon.” Mom says. “He was a good and caring Alpha. His family and pack meant the world to him. I loved your father so much and he loved us! When he found out I was pregnant with you, he was so excited! The day you were born was the best day of his life. He vowed that he would protect you, even if it kills him. He said you are his princess. I just wished that he was here to see you grow up!” Mom says as she is crying and I can’t help but start crying too.

“How did dad really die?” I ask Mom “Honey he sacrificed himself to save us. Betrayed by his former beta and best friend Tony Alanzo.” Mom says and I know I will remember that name because if that fucker is still alive then I will be the one to kill him! “What happened to Tony?” I ask mom “He disappeared right after Crescent Moon was destroyed. I haven’t seen him since that day. Your uncle and Jake have been looking for him and a vampire that he is working with but so far they only know where the vampire’s hideout is. Alpha King Damien is now also looking for him.” Mom says as she wipes my tears “Alpha King Damien has now asked us to help him in this search for those two assholes. The vampire’s name is Demetrius Stone. He is the one responsible for killing your uncle’s mate Andrea.” Mom says “Mom I promise you, when I get my powers and learn to master them, I will kill those assholes for what they have done to our family!” I say as I ball my fists. “Honey we will all get our revenge soon!” Mom says as she dries her tears

“What did you tell the Alpha King? And how does Uncle Ale feel about that?” I ask mom. “I told the Alpha King that we are in. He will call me tomorrow to set up a meeting. Your uncle wasn’t too keen on coming out of hiding but he also agreed that the Alpha King can protect you better than we ever could.” Mom says as she gets up from the chair. “Look at the time, it's almost five and we have to go set up the tables for the dinner rush.” She says. “Mom when you meet with the Alpha King, I want to be there as well.” I say as I get up and grab my apron from my bag. “Sure honey. I want you to be there too. I will tell you when we are meeting tomorrow after the Alpha King calls me okay?” Mom says as she walks out the door. “Okay, mom.” I say as I follow her. We find Jake in the hallway, leaning with his back against the wall. He walks with us to the floor, holding mom’s hand. I see mom smiling and I can’t help but be happy for her.

My mind goes back to the Alpha King and again I get that warm feeling in my body. Why is it that every time I think of him, I get that feeling and suddenly I can’t wait to meet him already!

Thalia POV

So our meeting with the Alpha King is set for Friday morning at the restaurant. It is Tuesday today and I am excited as my wolf will awaken tomorrow. But at the same time I am also nervous because according to the book that Sophia gave me, it says that when the Lunar wolf awakens, it will cause some pain to her human counterpart as she will receive some of her powers given to her by the Moon Goddess. My wolf will awaken at 12 pm tonight. It has been like that for generations. “Maybe I should just pray to the Moon Goddess and beg her to have mercy on me! You girls know I don’t like to feel pain!” I tell Becky and Sophie as we sit on the couch watching television. “Will you relax please. It won’t be that bad okay! We will be here for you every step of the way!” Sophie says as she squeezes my shoulder. I smile at my friends. “You guys are the best ever! Thank you for being there for me!” I say as I hug both of them. “Aahhh you know we would do anything for you Thalia!” Becky says as she hugs me back. Becky and Sophie are sleeping over at my house tonight. “Now let's finish watching the movie and let's go to bed!” Sophie says.

At around 9:30 we decide to go get ready for bed. As I walk past mom’s room, I hear some giggling and laughing coming from her room. Jake has been sleeping here every night since Saturday. I do not mind as I really like the guy. I have gotten to know him better over the last few days and I am glad he makes my mom happy. We walk past her room to mine when Sophie says “I am so glad your mom found someone that makes her happy. I’ve never seen her that happy before. Jake is such a nice guy.” She says “Yes he is. I just wish uncle Ale could also meet someone” I reply “I am sure he will someday Thalia.” Becky says as she gets under the covers of my huge king-size bed. I got it specifically when these two come over for sleepovers. “I just wish I could meet my mate already. I’m sick of waiting!” She adds. “You just turned 18 this year Becky, you will meet him someday!” Sophie says as she rolls her eyes at Becky. “Yeah well, I hope it is soon because I can’t wait to meet my blonde hair blue-eyed mate!” Becky says as I get under the covers. “How do you know he will be blonde? Or have blue eyes? For all, you know he could have black hair!” Sophie says as she joins us under the covers. “You will see. Just wait. And when I introduce him to you, I will be like I told you so!” Becky says. I just chuckle at my friends and their antics. “Goodnight girls” I say and they both say goodnight also. I then turn around to switch off the bedside lamp just as Sophie does on the other side. I instantly fell asleep.

I suddenly jolt up as a pain hits my chest and it is very painful. It feels like I am having a heart attack then another pain hits my stomach that it makes me scream. I feel a hand on my shoulder and I look up to see mom and the girls holding my body still. “Breathe Thalia. Everything will be okay!” Mom says as she tries to soothe me with her words. “It hurts mom! It really hurts!” I say as tears start streaming down my face. “I know honey but we are here! We are not going anywhere okay!” Mom says. I look at the clock and see that it is 12:01 pm. My body starts burning up. “You are sweating Thalia. Let me go get you a wet cloth.” Becky says as she runs to my on-suite bathroom. I hear the tap water running and after what feels like forever, she finally returns and wipes my forehead. I feel the pain leaving my body.

‘Hi.’ I hear a voice inside my head. “Uhh… Hi. Who is there?” I reply out loud making mom and the others look at me confused. “Honey, who are you talking to?” Mom asks as she wipes my face again. “Mom I swear I just heard a voice inside my head. I must be going insane!” I say as I wipe the tears from my eyes. ‘No, you are not going insane! It’s me silly!’ the voice talks again

“No Honey, you are not going insane! That must be your wolf talking to you! Remember I told you that our wolves can communicate with us in our mind?” Mom asks me and I say “yes because we are one.” “Well think of what you will want to tell her and she will hear it. She can hear your thoughts. You don’t need to speak out loud to her okay.” Mom says.

‘See I’m your wolf. My name is Alexa. It is so nice to finally meet you!’ Alexa says  ‘Oh hi Alexa! My name is Thalia and it is so nice to meet you too!’ I reply ‘I know who you are Thalia.’ Alexa says. ‘You do? How? We just met.’ I ask her. ‘Because I can see all your memories. I know everything about you now’ Alexa replies. “Honey, how are you feeling?” Mom asks as she holds my hand. “I’m good mom. The pain is all gone now!” I say as I sit up. “Can I get a glass of water please mom?” I ask my mom. “Sure thing honey. By the way, what is your wolf’s name?” Mom asks me as she gets up. “Alexa. Her name is Alexa.” I reply “Wow such a pretty name! I’ll go get you your water quickly” Mom says as she walks out the door. It is only then that I realize that uncle Ale and Jake is also in the room. “I’m glad you are alright, little bambino!” Uncle Ale says as he comes to hug me. “Thanks, uncle Ale. And please will you stop calling me little bambino! You know I hate that nickname!” I glare at him. “Never! Hahaha!” Uncle Ale laughs at me. “Now that you are alright, I’m going back to bed. Sweet dreams little bambino!” Uncle Ale says as he leaves the room. Jake also tells me he is glad that I am okay and that he is also going back to bed. The girls climb back in bed too. “We’re glad you are alright Thalia. See I told it wasn’t going to be so bad! The pain only lasted about 10 minutes.” Sophie says. “10 minutes! It felt like forever!” I tell the girls. “Well now that this is over, we need to prepare you for your first shift on Friday!” Becky says as she looks at me.

“Well, that will have to wait until later girls. Thalia needs her rest and so do you! Also you three have school tomorrow. Here is your water Thalia.” Mom says as she walks into the room. She then gives me a kiss on my forehead saying goodnight girls. We greet her back just as she switches the light off. ‘Your family is so nice! I like them already! Well, you heard what mom said! Goodnight Thalia’ Alexa says as she retreats into the back of my mind. ‘Goodnight Alexa’ I reply as I close my eyes and soon I’m in dreamland.
