Luciano
"Camila," Adriana shouted. She tried to push me off her but I just deepened the kiss. I was enjoying her squirming in my arms.
"Sssh, it's okay," I whispered in her ear. She relaxed and began to kiss me back. I bit her bottom lip again and she whimpered. I stopped our kiss and looked at her. She was breathing heavily. She wouldn't look at me.
"Camila," I said. "Don't worry. This just means I like you." I gave her a small peck on the lips and walked away. I made my way back inside and watched as Camila pretend she was okay. She wouldn't look at me but her eyes wandered in my direction every now and then.
Suddenly, I heard gunshots coming from outside by the main gates. Adriano and Vicente shouted for their men to go check on it. Adriano shouted at his wife to get the kids upstairs. I looked at Heitor and gestured for him to stay alert. Demetri stayed by my side. I looked around and noticed Camila hiding behind the bar. I ran over to her.
"Why didn't you go upstairs?" I asked. She motioned behind her and I saw a man on the floor with a pool of blood all around him.
"He was shot and-," suddenly shots were coming from the backyard. The main gate shots were probably just a distraction. Someone was shooting from the pool area. They were moving closer to the house.
"He is just a bartender," I said. "We have to go."
"But," she was sobbing as if she had just lost a loved one. Damn her good heart.
"Calm down," I said as I rubbed her arms. "Slowly, get up and go upstairs." She obeyed but then pushed me to the ground. She was laying on top of me, panting. Demetri and Heitor quickly ran to us and helped us up. I grabbed Camila and pushed her to Heitor.
"Take her upstairs, now," I demanded. Heitor didn't like the idea of being away from me during a situation like this but he knew it was an order. He grabbed Camila by the elbow and didn't let her protest.
"Wait, Heitor, Where are you going to?" Heitor dragged her upstairs before she could finish. "Heitor."
"Luciano, what's our plan?" Demetri asked.
"We go help, I don't know who is the attacker but they just made it personal," I said. I grabbed a gun from Demetri and went out to the pool area. We didn't see anyone but Demetri and I circled around the area. We found two men trying to crawl up the side of the wall. We shot them dead before they could make it any further. I circled to the front of the house. There were seven men dead. Adriano and Vicente ran to us.
"Where is Luciano?" he asked.
"Upstairs," I said. "He sent us to help."
"Thank you," Adriano said. "Where there any more men?"
"Two at the back of the house," I answered.
"Okay," Adriano said. "I will ask my men to clean this up. You can go back to Luciano. Protect my family." I looked at Adriano. He was so concerned about his family. I wondered not for the first time if he would have been a good father to me had I grown up in his home. Demetri and I went upstairs. Rosa and Adriana were sobbing while they sat on the bed. Ms. Hernandez was trying to calm them. While the other Ms. Hernandez, Vicente's wife was trying to hold her tears in. Camila was looking out the window. I nudged Heitor for being stupid enough to let her even near a window. I walked over to her.
"It's over now," I told her. She slightly smiled. She reached out to grab my hand but stopped when she remembered we weren't alone. Some sick part of me wanted to pull her in for that hug she shied away from.
Adriano came into the room and told us we were going home. We headed to the house and I watched carefully how Camila tried to hide her shaky hands. Everyone went to their rooms. I stood there staring at her door. I decided to go against my better judgment and went to go check on her.
"Heitor," there she goes again. Saying that name that wasn't my own. Her voice was sad and tired. She was still wearing her dress.
"Are you okay?" I asked. She didn't look at me. She was fumbling with some papers on her bed. "Camila!" I said louder.
"You could have died," she said in a hushed whisper. I almost didn't hear her.
"You saved me," I said.
"I have never seen a dead body before," she remarked. I walked over to her and caressed her hair. Her hands slowly raised and went towards my face. I flinched and she noticed. She hovered them over my face. Inches away from cupping my face, I just stood there staring at her. Her breathing quickened and so did mine.
"Camila," I said softly. "You should go to bed." She stood up, pressing her body against mine as she slipped past me. She went to the other side of her room and slid a door open. She walked into her closet and began to slip out of her dress. My eyes roamed her entire body that she was putting on display for me. She looked down for a moment. Her body got tense. She then looked up at me and reached for the hook on the back of her bra. She slowly pulled down the straps and pulled the bra off her body. She reached for a camisole and slipped it on. She then pulled off her panties and grabbed a pair of shorts that matched her cami. She put her hair in a ponytail and came back into her room.
"Can you stay here?" she asked.
"Why?" I asked.
"I don't want to be alone,"
"Scared?"
"Hei-." I placed my index finger over her lips.
"Come here," I said as I walked over to the bed. I go in and told her to come to lay next to me. She nuzzled into me and quickly fell asleep. I didn't know what game I was playing anymore but I needed to get what I needed and get the f**k out of this house soon.
