"He is invited to my sister's wedding?"
"Apparently."
"What the . . . who the hell is this guy? Please tell me he is a werewolf."
"How would I know?"
"Oh, Kate! Why did you have to get involved with him?"
"Because it is my choice, Ella. Now please stop yelling at me and help me out."
"Miss Terence, your dresses are packed."
"Thank you, Suela."
I turn at Kate, who seems to be having a panic attack.
"Please, calm down. We are going to figure this out. Let's ask my sister if she knows him, or maybe Matt does."
"No! Are you crazy? They are going to find out about me and him."
"No they're not."
My sister Fey's abilities to find out everything, may come to hand now.
"Call Fey, while I take the dresses."
Suela hands me the package, I thank her and leave, Kate behind me.
"Have a nice day, miss Terence."
"Thank you, Madam Jozy."
I rush outside and Ray quickly jumbs out of the car and takes the package.
"Where to now miss?"
"Home, Ray."
"Certainly, miss."
"Kate, did you call her?"
"She isn't answering her phone."
I groan with frustration and get in the car. Going home now won't calm my nerves. I still have a perfume to buy. Damn it.
"Ray, forget about driving home. Take us to 'Red Venom' please."
He nods and drives off.
I take my phone out of my bag and call Fey. It goes straight to voicemail.
She always answers her phone. She practically lives with it, goes to the bathroom with it. Really odd.
I decide to call Danielle.
She does not answer either. Well, I know she is getting ready for tonight and that is a good excuse for not answering the phone.
Maybe I could ask my sister when I am back.
"He is pressuring me, Ella."
"Derek?"
"Yes."
"Tell him you can't go. Tell him you are sick and you've been vomiting all morning."
"That won't work, Ella. He will see me tonight at the wedding."
My phone starts ringing and I raise my finger, so Kate won't talk.
"Hey, Danielle."
"Hey you. What's going on?"
"Do you know a Derek Allen?" Kate shouted, making me scold at her.
"Derek Allen? No, why?"
"Not important. She is joking. How are you feeling today?"
"What?" Kate mouthed and I rose my shoulders as to let her know, I have no idea what I should do.
"Well, I am getting married today so I'm feeling great."
"Excellent. Okay, bye bye."
"El. . ." I hung up and let my head fall back.
"Miss Hart, did you say Derek Allen?" Ray asked and caught us both by surprise.
"Yes, Ray. Why, do you know him?"
"As a matter of fact I do, miss. He is an old friend of Mr. Gayle."
"What? Matt's friend?"
"It is not my place miss, but I would recommend to stay away from that lad."
"Why?"
"Why, Ray? You can tell us."
"He is married."
"What the . . ."
That I did not expect at all.
"How do you know that?"
"I once drove Miss Terence, Mr. Gayle to a dinner party and when I picked them after the dinner, Mr. Allen and his wife joined them."
"That is crazy. Why does he have an online dating profile?"
"What if he got divorced?"
"We'll find out tonight."
We finally arrived at 'Red Venom'. It's almost 12pm. The wedding starts at 4pm. I have four hours left.
"I am going to buy a perfume real quick. Wait here," I said to Kate.
Getting inside, the smell of the most intoxicating perfume pinched through my nostrils and made its way to my lungs.
A man I have never seen before, comes towards me and offers to help me.
"I would like the 500ml Red Venom please."
"Of course."
He left and came back in a few seconds holding my favorite perfume.
"Will that be all, Miss?"
"Yes, please."
"That will be 240$."
I take out my purse and hand him my credit card.
"Thank you, miss Terence," he said after he read my name on the card.
He put the perfume in a small red bag with a scorpion on it and handed it to me along with my credit card.
"Have a nice day," I grinned and he offered to open the door for me.
"That is most kind of you, sir."
"My pleasure."
I rush outside and get in the car.
"My mother called me," Kate said as soon as I closed the door.
"And?"
I looked at her and she seemed very happy.
"Kate, what is it?"
"I got the internship, Ella."
"Oh my God! Are you serious?"
"Yes! I start next week. I am going to be an intern at the most prestigious school."
Kate's dream, since she was a child, was to teach. She loves children and children love her. She is one of the few people in our pack, to have studied.
"I cannot believe it, Kate. This is amazing."
"Isn't it? I have to change my wardrobe, the clothes, shoes, hair. Everything. I must get ready."
"Kate, calm down. It's Thursday. You have time to get ready."
"Finally my life is falling into place."
I smile and give her a bear hug.
"I'm so proud of you," I whispered and she hugged me back.
"I love you, Ella."
"I love you too, Kate."
There is nothing better than two best friends expressing their love they have for each other.
"Now, let's go to 'Morning Café'."
Kate clapped her hands in excitement and Ray drove off.
Hopefully we will find out who this mistery mate is.
The 'Morning Café' is more crowded than usual.
"Let's go upstairs."
"We have to fetch our coffee first."
"They bring it to you now."
My eyes almost popped out of my head.
"I know. A lot has changed."
As we were walking upstairs, Kate trembled.
"Hey, what is it?"
"What if he is there? What if he sees me and does not talk to me again? What if he rejects me this time?"
"Kate, please calm down. Everything will be fine. I am here now."
She kept trembling and it pained me to see her like that. Only she knows what it felt like and I guess it wasn't good.
"Let's see if we can find a corner table. That way no one can see you."
She nodded.
We were at the top of the stairs and I started looking around for a free table.
There are only three left on the other end.
I pointed with my chin towards the tables and she agreed.
As we are walking, Kate accidentally drops her handbag.
"Let me get that for you," a man offered politely.
"Thank you," Kate responded and when she looked at him, she froze.
"Are you okay?" The man asked, but Kate was still frozen.
"It's you," Kate finally spoke and he looked at her, as if she were crazy.
