Cassandra put down her bag on the sofa and leaned her head on it. After her meeting with Zachary, she suddenly felt that she wanted to hide again for good.
But she had a feeling that Zachary was sincere and she didn't want to fall from his trap or else the six years gathering all the strength she lost would be gone.
"So, how's your get together?" Andrei asked her. He was her brother.
She looked at him sharply as if that's her hatred word, "Don't start me Andrei, I'm not in the mood."
"I'm just asking, besides I was worried that Zach Guy did something to you. Did he hurt you?" Andrei asked and check if she was hurt or not.
"Can you please stop that? I said I'm not in the mood."
She rolled her eyes before leaning her head again on the sofa. She had to relax her mind or else she might go crazy. Cassandra sighed deeply and closed her eyes.
"Don't look at me, your freaking me out Andrei."
"Fine," Andrei sat down beside her and put down the tea he made for her and said, "I'm just curious because this is the first time you came home so early. Did something happen?"
"Yes, and it made me so mad."
He chuckled, "Is that about your company again?"
Cassandra opened her eyes and looked at her brother, "No, it is worse than that."
"Do you mind telling me?"
She exhaled deeply before sitting properly and facing her brother because she knew Andrei would not stop asking her until she told him what happened to her.
"Zachary is back," She stated.
"What do you mean back? In your life?"
She shook her head, "No, but in our son's life."
"Oh, so what happened? Did he ask you to have custody of your son or did he want to get your son from you?"
"I don't know but I felt like he's into something except my son's custody and I know he has the right to meet our son."
"And?"
She averted her gaze and leaned on the sofa, her mind was messed up and she was afraid that Zach might use their son to enter her life again, which she wouldn't allow to happen.
"Do you want me to do something?"
She scoff, "Like what? As if you could push him away from our lives and tell him not to bother me anymore."
"Well, I can do that."
"You know what Andrei, if you have nothing to say please leave me alone for a while."
"Well, my dear sister. I have something and it is going to be lit."
Andrei caught her attention, causing her to look at her brother with a curious look written in her face.
"What do you mean?"
Her brother flashed a smirk, "I can pretend that I am your husband, besides Zachary didn't know you had a brother."
"You? My husband? Yuck! For Christ's sake!"
"Hey!" He pointed at his sister's face, "That's not a good reaction and accept it, I'm a good sample for being a husband."
"No you're not."
"Come on! If I pretend to be your husband, Zachary wouldn't think about messing up your life again and he also going to think that you two are not meant for each other."
"Or maybe it was a good idea to push him away and put walls between the two of you," he added.
Cassandra thought about her brother's idea and she found it interesting and useful. If that idea works, then she doesn't have to think of a way to push Zachary away from her life.
She faced her brother, "I know you Andrei, you wouldn't help me without any return. What do you want?"
"It's simple and you don't have to lift anything for me, just give me enough allowance every time me and my boys go to a club."
She rolled her eyes, "I knew it. You're just helping me to get money from me. Doesn't father gave you enough money for your hobbies?"
"Well, he cut out my allowance after messing up with his car." He scratched his head and laugh nervously.
"And you think I'm going to deal with you because I need someone to pretend so my ex-husband wouldn't dare to came in my life?"
"Absolutely."
Cassandra raised her eyebrows, "It's a no."
"What? It's not hard though."
"Still, it's a no. I don't want to get involved in your problems, besides, it's for you to deal with."
Andrei knelt in front of her and made his signature puppy eyes while his sister was shocked by what he did causing Cassandra's eyes to almost pop out.
"Please? I'll be a good boy. Just give me spare money. I'm your brother anyway!"
"What are you doing? You know someone might see us and think I'm torturing you!"
But Andrei remained in his position. Cassandra looked outside the glass walls and felt a little relief that no one roaming around their neighborhood. She kicked her brother but Andrei didn't move nor stand up.
"Andrei," Her voice had a sign of warning, "Don't lose my patience!"
"Please! Cassandra, I promise. No parties every Saturday, just help me out! Please!"
She sighed but her phone notification caught her attention. She looked at it and became more pissed when Zachary's name flashed on the screen. She immediately deleted it before she threw away her phone in annoyance.
Until now, Zachary's presence pissed her and her day become more annoying than usual.
She averted her gaze at Andrei, who was still kneeling in front of her and said, "Fine, just do your job properly."
He smiled widely, "Aye, aye honey."
"And don't call me honey when Zachary is not around," she warned.
"Okay, then."
"By the way, where is Gabriel?"
Andrei pointed to the stairs and she didn't have to ask anymore because she knew where her son was, Cassandra stood up from sitting on the chair and started approaching the stairs and walking upstairs.
She had to see her only medicine and that was her son, because whenever she saw Gabriel, her bad mood washed away and her day became good again.
After reaching the second floor, she stopped in front of her son's room and slowly opened the door, where she saw Gabriel sleeping soundly. A smile appeared on her face, causing her to enter his room without making any noise and to prevent him from waking up.
Cassandra sat down at the side of the bed and looked intently at her son's face, "You really inherited your father's face.."
"I know you've been asking for him since then and I want to tell you that I have already granted your wish, my son," She said and removed the hair that covered her son's handsome face.
"I'm doing this for you, Gabriel, only for you." She uttered.
She lifted the blanket and covered her son. She was lucky to have a little angel and she'd do anything for him and if Gabriel'd became happy to meet his father. Then, she'll do it for her son's sake.
Suddenly, her phone rang, causing her to come back to her senses and answer it immediately and leave her son's bedroom.
[We needed your presence, Cassandra.] Her father said from the other line.
"Why? Is there something wrong?" She inquired.
[It's hard to explain it here, so I want you to come here.]
"But I just got home and I'm planning to spend time with my son, dad."
[I know but this is an emergency,] her father insisted.
She opened her son's room again and looked if he was still sleeping. Cassandra is having second thoughts about it since she promised her son that they'd go to play when she came home.
[Everyone is looking for you, Cassandra.]
She sighed, "How important is it?"
[I don't know but I know you'll be shocked if you see this.]
She suddenly got confused, "Okay, I'll be there."
That's all she said after ending the call. She had a bad feeling that it was not as good as she thought. Cassandra glanced at her son for the last time before closing the door and started her way down the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Andrei asked.
"Dad called me and I think it's bad news," she answered without looking at her brother.
"How about Gabriel? He'll look for you when he wakes up."
She looked at her brother, "Take him outside for me, please."
"Okay, just came home early. I don't want to deal with his tantrums."
"Thank you!"
After saying those words, Cassandra rushed outside their house and got inside of her car. Her father's voice earlier making her worried and she knew there was something wrong happening to her company.
She started her engine and drove away. After she met up with her ex-husband, nothing else happened but a misfortune. Now she become more eager to push him away from her life or else the memories she's trying to bury in her past will come back.
