Limits

Cassandra arrived at her company and found her father outside her office waiting, she saw how worried her father was, and she suddenly wanted to know what was going on. She approached her father, and Raul immediately faced her as if there was a considerable problem her company was facing. "What is going on? Why are you looking so pale right now, dad?" She inquired and handed him a handkerchief. Raul wiped his sweat and said, "You won't believe what I heard, Cassandra." "What?" "I can't explain it thoroughly. That's why I asked for your presence, even though you have a son to play with." She exhales deeply, "What is it, dad? Tell me." "Why don't you meet your investors?" She became curious and didn't ask her father anymore; she walked toward the board room and entered without looking at the guests. The atmosphere suddenly became quiet after she sat down on the center chair, but she was surprised to see who was inside the room. "Zachary." Her eyes were locked into the man she despised, and now Zachary dared to enter the world that had boundaries. Cassandra suddenly felt annoyed for seeing his face and wanted to leave a mark on his annoying face. "What are you doing here," She said seriously. Zachary leans on the chair and flashes a smile, "Nothing, checking my company." "Your company? When did this company belong to you." "Don't you know about it?" He chuckled, "I am one of your investors now, so this company belongs to me now." She scoffs, "What?" Cassandra looked at her father, who was sitting beside her, and Mr. Richards just gave her a shrug which made her sigh sincerely. She calms herself down and takes a deep breath before turning back her gaze to Zachary. "What do you want," She asked straight. Zachary leans in his chair, "Nothing. Is it bad to visit my company?" "This is not yours, so stop saying it's yours! I didn't know you were one of our investors, and I don't know how you entered my world!" "Actually, I'm the one who pursued Mr. Williams to invest in your company, and I think it's a good thing," Mr. Rodriguez said to interrupt them. She widened and was surprised, "What?! And you didn't consult me before asking him? I am the owner of this company, and I have the right to know who is my investors!" "Watch your mouth, Ms. Richards. We are part of this company, and if you are against our decision, then we must pull our investments in your company. I won't tolerate that kind of attitude." She closed her eyes tightly and took a deep breath because she had to be calm or else the company she tried to build would fall apart, and she didn't want that to happen. "I'm sorry, I'm just surprised because I didn't know that man would enter the place where boundaries exist." "Look, Ms. Richards, if you and Mr. Williams have problems to deal with. Deal it yourself and don't include us because this is a business, not an open forum!" Mr. Rodriguez said, annoyed. Suddenly a loud laugh breaks the silence, causing them to look at the owner of that laugh. Their eyes landed on Zachary, who had a grin written on his face while leaning on the chair. "What is funny, Mr. Williams?" "Nothing, I'm just surprised that you know what is happening between Cassandra and me." "What are you trying to say?" He shrugged his shoulder, "What do you think?" "This isn't the first time I saw you, Mr. Rodriguez, because I know you have another reason for entering this community, aren't you?" "Are you suspecting me?" Mr. Rodriguez's voice raised. "I didn't say that." Mr. Rodriguez didn't speak and avoided his gaze before standing up in his chair and leaving the room, followed by the other investors and Cassandra's father. In contrast, Zachary and Cassandra left inside the room. "What was that?" Cassandra asked him, "What are you trying to do, Zachary." "Aren't you happy that I become one of your investors?" Cassandra clenches her fist under the long table, "I am not happy, especially since you are my new investor. What do you want, Zachary? Isn't it enough that I gave what you want?" "Yes, it's not enough, Cassandra, and I'm telling you that I'll do everything to reclaim you and take back what is rightfully mine." "Unbelievable," She scoffed, "Giving you custody of our son is enough, Zachary, and what we had six years ago is already gone, so know your limits!" "I told you from the start, you can have our son's attention but not mine, so don't you dare enter my life again or else--" "Or else what?" Cassandra didn't answer and kept silent; she calmed herself and tried not to raise her voice because her employees might hear they were fighting. "I will break the barrier you keep putting between us, Cassandra, and let you realize what you have to realize." He exhales deeply, "You are my mine, my wife, and my son's mother, so you can't keep me away from your life." Those words are like a joke to her because after six years, the wound Zachary made to her is still fresh, and she wouldn't let him become part of her life. Never. She avoided his gaze and said, "I don't care what your plans are, but I'll do everything to stop you from entering my life again." "If I have to remind you that every day. Then, I'll do it until you realize what we had six years ago will never come back." "I know what I did to you, but It's been six years, and until now, you're mad at me?" She laughed sarcastically, "Six years is not enough for me to forget what you have done, Zachary, because whenever I see your face, the pain I tried to hide and buried in the past is still coming back." She stood up and walked towards the door and grabbed the doorknob, but before she opened it, she stopped from what Zachary said. "I'm sorry for the pain I did six years ago, and I know I can't remove it, but I'll do everything to make it up to you, Cassandra." "I still love you, and if chasing you is part of my karma, I'll do it." But Cassandra didn't plan to listen to him, so she immediately left the room and didn't wait for him to say more. After putting a vast barrier, she ends up opening it for her son's sake, and now Zachary takes advantage of that to enter her life. Now he dares to enter the place with limits, and she won't let Zachary enter her life again nor let herself feel the pain she felt six years ago. "If I have to make my brother pretend to be my husband, then I'll do it just to keep him away from entering my life." Suddenly her phone rang, causing her to answer it without looking who the caller was but her mood changed when she heard her son's voice. [Mommy! I thought you were going to play with me?] "I'm sorry, baby, mommy has to deal with something." She heard him cry, which made her smile, Gabriel was her strength, and he's always been. "Why are you crying?" She asked. [Uncle Andrei told me that you leave us!] "Did he tell you that?" [Yes, mommy! Please, don't l-leave me! I'm going t-to be a good boy, huhuhu] Cassandra's mood lightened as she heard her son's voice. She suddenly wanted to hug him inside her arms because his non-stop crying made her sad. "Don't worry, baby. I'm almost home. Wait, me okay? Mommy was going to buy your favorite food." [R-really? You're not l-leaving me?] "Of course not! How can I leave you? You're mommy's angel, remember? And mommy's didn't leave their angels." [P-promise me?] She chuckled because maybe her son was pouting right now, and she wanted to pinch his chubby cheeks of Gabriel. She stops the car on the side of the road and glance at her rearview mirror, and notices a familiar vehicle. "Where is uncle Andrei? Can I talk to him?" As soon as she asked her son, Andrei suddenly spoke on the phone, but she didn't listen to his explanations. "Stop explaining, Andrei. I want you to be ready. I think Zachary is following me so he could find out where we are living." [As in right now?] Andrei asked. "Yes," She said without taking off his eyesight on her car's rearview mirror, "He's starting his first move, and I didn't like it." [Alright, tell me if you are almost near so I can ready my lines.] "Okay." After that, she ended the call and looked at the car behind her before starting her engine. Cassandra knew it was Zachary's car, and she's not let him know where they lived because if he did. He won't stop bugging her, and that's what she wanted to stop.
